Le Favori is a beautiful Michelin restaurant located at beautiful Les Sources de Cheverny. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside, with a general sense of nature and calm. Plenty of windows for lots of light, and not overly loud at all. We were immediately taken to our table once we arrived, and I'll say, we actually were having trouble getting some service at first. Not sure what was going on, and we did have someone coming to us, but it was almost like someone was late, or something got held up, or something. Fortunately, this only lasted 15 minutes or so, afterwards the service was extremely attentive, with multiple folks coming by to bring food, explain dishes, etc. So okay, we're seated, we've selected our menu and wine, and we're off. First off is the amuse bouche, little finger bites with tremendous flavor served on a multi-tiered dish, pretty neat. Next up, they brought out the bread, which was a hearty, rustic, and wonderfully chewy marvel of bread, plus a generous slab of French butter. Yum! Need to pace though, because here comes the first course, a cute little combination of celery root, liveche, and pomelo fruit. I was not very familiar with pomelo, but it's a little like a grapefruit, but less bitter and sweeter. Very pretty dish, and very tasty too. This was followed by a lovely compilation of celtuce, sunflower, seaweed, Osciètre caviar. And quite the portion of caviar, i might add, and a fantastic tasking caviar as well. Again, beautiful dish, very tasty. This was followed by John Dory fish, with an almost chicken-wing-esque artichoke, with a fabulous sauce as well. I'm not a fan of artichoke, but i loved this dish, and again, it was beautifully plated, they really were knocking it out of the park with the plating. Next up, chicken with eggplant and saffron. then the desserts. First up, rhubarb and woodruff with a rice tuile, next a strawberry tart with shiso sorbet, and finally a few bite-sized truffles served on a branch probably harvested from their property. I'm just jumping forward here, because again, every single one of these was plated beautifully, with fantastic flavor and care. And one other thing here, we also did the wine pairing, which was absolutely fantastic! Not only were the wines excellent pairings for each meal, but the sommelier was fantastic to converse with. It worked out, because we would practice our French with him, and he his English with us, and between the two languages, we were able to have some fantastic conversation. We learned a ton about the region, the wines themselves, and just had a fantastic evening. It has to be said, fantastic food and presentation (read: food art) goes a long way, but being made to feel at home is huge as well. And we felt very much at home here, almost as if they'd all grab a glass of wine and join us. It was incredibly enjoyable, and we were thankful for the opportunity! So yeah, this is a fantastic restaurant with welcoming and professional staff, and they overwhelmingly succeed at providing a top notch experience.
