Great spice shop with huge array of spices to choose from. They'll open up sampler containers for you so you can smell the amazing aromas from anything that you are interested in. Each section of shelves are organized wonderfully, making it easy to browse around and find what you are looking for. I picked out several spices to bring home and add to my collection to help flavor our homemade food. They'll even ship your order free if you place a big enough order with them! read more

This is our go-to spice shop! It's located in the heart of downtown Fort Collins, which means you will compete for street parking or just swing into the parking garage. Very cool, well decorated, and cozy shop. The staff is super helpful and attentive from the moment you walk in. The spices are high quality and the selection is excellent. We love to get the basic spices and then browse the fun stuff. You can get everything from the typical garlic salt to sweet popcorn toppers. Definitely stop in here! read more

Savory Spice Shop - the entrance to the store - Herbs & Spices Near Me - Fort Collins, Colorado

I recently visited from Hawaii. The employees were so kind and helpful. They helped me figure out some good seasonings to take back home. I bought a bunch of the premade seasoning meal packets. We are currently eating the dill chicken risoto and it's fab! read more

Savory Spice Shop is one of my favorite places to go in Old Town Fort Collins. There are so many delicious ideas and the staff are so helpful. It is my go-to for my own personal spice cabinet and giving gifts to friends and family. It's great for my foodie friends, and for my family members that just want to eat. Highly recommend to everyone! read more

One of our favorites for both unique and staple spices. I always love taking visiting family to the shop as well so they can stock up on some essentials for their kitchens at home. Their Capital Hill seasoning is one of my favorites for shaking onto some scrambled eggs, avocado toast or grilled veggies. It also goes well with some olive oil/vinegar from Rocky Mountain Olive Oil for an easy and delicious vinaigrette. read more

I was really sad when I heard that the Savory Spice Shop was opening up in the Opera Galleria -- sad that it wasn't closer to home (as if being a few miles away wasn't a vast improvement over going to Boulder or Denver). Kidding aside, it is kind of a shame that Fort Collins' two specialty spice shops are within walking distance of each other, but I am glad to have Savory in town. The Opera Galleria location does have it's benefits -- there is ample parking in the garage behind it, and there is even a covered walkway connecting the garage to the 2nd floor of the galleria for those days where the weather is miserable. Your first hour of parking is free as well. The store itself is bright and inviting, with an impressive variety of herbs, spices, peppers, etc. available in numerous forms (whole, ground, mixes, etc.). Stuff is arranged functionally (e.g. for baking or barbequing) or by cuisine type -- an arrangement that invites browsing. A couple of staples that keep me coming back -- vanilla beans and crystallized ginger. Sure, you can get vanilla beans in most any grocery store, but they won't be the supple, fragrant beans that Savory offers. Oh, and at the grocery store you will pay 2-3 times as much for a single, pathetically dried-out bean as you would for 3 better quality beans at Savory. As for the crystallized ginger -- I've started substituting Savory's chunk-style crystallized ginger for fresh ginger in a number of my staples, e.g. teriyaki sauce. Almost everything I make that uses ginger also includes some sugar, so with the crystallized ginger I just cut back or omit it. The crystallized ginger has such concentrated flavor that I find it easier than working with the old, stringy "fresh" ginger from the grocery store produce aisles. At some point I'll branch out and try some of the more exotic things that aren't familiar to me -- the fact that I can get tiny quantities for things I don't use regularly is a huge bonus. read more

I recently purchased some truffle salt from Susan and used it with scrambled eggs. Every bite was glorious. It's so rare to find truffle-flavored food in the US that actually tastes like truffles. Kudos to Susan and staff for finding this spice gem. read more

Definitely a very nice spice shop! You can pick all of your obscure and specific spices here for all of your dishes! You can sample various spices to see if what it is your looking for is there. The staff is very nice and friendly and the place smells soooo good!! read more

Can't get enough of this place ! The ladies are always very knowledgable and helpful. They also will refill the jars I originally bought from there so that's pretty handy! Doesn't matter if I'm making a brisket rub or trying out some out of this world simple syrups for my mixed drinks :) read more

I originally found out about the Savory Spice Shop when we were down in Denver so was super happy that they opened one up in Fort Collins. My husband and I really like their spice blends - the Longs Peak and Table Mountain being two of our favorites. The staff are gracious in letting you sample blends and I never walk out of here without making a purchase. read more

I visited this shop in order to buy some spices for a chili I planned on making after being recommended by a friend, and I was blown away by the whole experience. The first and most obvious benefit to shopping here is the access to freshly ground spices, which are not only more fragrant and flavorful than what you can find at the supermarket, but also cost roughly the same price too. I was even more impressed by the selection and quality of the dried chiles offered here, which were both fragrant and pliable. Even now, the leftover chiles from my purchase are still emitting a pleasant aroma in my spice cabinet several months later. This is in direct contrast to my experience with dried chiles I bought at the supermarket, which were already brittle at the point of purchase. However the best part of the experience overall was the service. It might take a few minutes to get help when the store is busy since it is small and not heavily staffed, but the staff will go the extra mile to meet your needs, ranging from letting you smell and taste spices on the premises, grinding spices to order, and also giving good recommendations if you tell them what you intend to cook. After my experience here, I have no need to purchase spices at the grocery store ever again. Highly recommended. read more

It's so silly to think that my kids and I would have so much fun in a spice shop! The staff - all of them - were super friendly, upbeat and helpful. We got to try a lot of the spices and wow the quality is amazing. We shared a lot of laughs and will come back with my kiddos to buy more! read more

I love visiting Savory Spice when I visit Fort Collins! We do a lot of grilling in the summer and I make a point of stocking up on different rubs to try. I love the fact that they have specialty items like vanilla beans and the MOST amazing truffle salt in the world! The store's space is beautiful and it's great that they're right downtown. read more

To say that this place is incredible would be a understatement. This is a feast for the nose and the taste buds! To be able to see, smell and taste so many flavors is an experience not to be missed! There are taster jars by most spices (labelled taster) for you to take a sniff and then sprinkle a bit in your hand to then taste! What fun! This is a must stop shop for a tasting event to be remembered! read more

Love to just wander in this store. Staff is very helpful and I'm never sorry about always buying something. Love to try new flavors!

I have not had good experience with this shop and plan on heading over to Old Town Spice Shop when I need items. The store is nice and it is clean and attractive. They do have good items. But often the staff were a bit impatient, not terribly friendly and they frowned upon the small amount of spices I gave to multiple co-workers. I only wanted to give a little to many people and the lady pulled a bit of an attitude, making the comment" well that really isn't very much is it"? I also got a kind realtor gift card that expired end Feb. I work late and have never had time to make it down, so I asked if I could extend it one day..no longer. I heard them talking in the background like I had asked for the world. They did not extend it. So I will take my business elsewhere recommend the other store. read more

I was thrilled when Savory Spice opened a shop here. I had been driving to Boulder for the past few years, so it was a relief to have such quality products so close to home. The spices, herbs, and blends are so much fresher than from the grocery store. And less expensive, to boot! The fact that patrons are encouraged to try what they want and buy what they need really makes a difference, too. The Savory staff is a fun group of folks who really know their stuff. If an inquiry stumps them, they take the time to find the answer, via one of the great books they sell, the Internet, or from each other. I so appreciate that they will measure out a small sample size if you just want enough product for a meal or two, or are not totally sure how much you will like it. I was also there the other day when they weighed out a pound of something for one of the restaurants in town....we regular joes can get a pound, also! I have been in the shop many times, and am always treated courteously and with a smile. It is a beautiful setting....inviting and bright with exotic aromas from around the world. The music is mellow, and I always seem to feel my shoulders drop a few inches when I walk in the door. By the way, my cooking has really gone up a notch! read more

This is a wonderful place to shop. You can truly find something for everyone on your list. My husband is a foodie and this is the little slice of heaven he is always looking for. The staff is welcoming and friendly, always ready to offer advice. read more

I went to this shop over the weekend. I went to this one after a horrible experience with the other spice shop in Old Town (Old Town Spice Shop). I was so impressed with the completely different atmosphere that welcomed me as soon as I walked in the door. I was immediately helped by an employee who told me how the shop worked and to let her know if I needed anything. Then I found everything I wanted and more, their selection is FABULOUS! After this whirlwind experience I got in the checkout line and the employee asked me if I found everything okay. Which, of course is expected, but I was happy that this shop actually acknowledged me (unlike the other one). And she told me about the rewards program they have. So, of course I signed up. It has a money back aspect as well as a present for your birthday. Since my birthday is this month she promptly let me select my birthday freebie from an adorable basket of sprinkle-on spices. I picked out Parmesan Pest, and yes it is as delicious as it sounds. Basically, this spice shop made my day and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for specialty items. I can't wait to go back! Also, they have good prices (better than the other spice shop). read more
