So this is the real deal. It's a small butcher shop with a big bang. They have the most delicious steaks. Cut to order. They ask you how thick! They have freshly ground hamburger, several different pics of steaks, including a delicious fillet. They have some different sausages and bacon. I also like the fact that they had small organic chickens. Some products they have are frozen you can take home for later use. Like stew beef. I got one New York, one ribeye, and a small chicken. I loved the fact that there were ladies running this place. Very informative and knowledgeable. Patient and helpful was excellent. While I was there, I noticed they were grinding some sort of meat. We got steaks to make at home for our anniversary dinner on the 18th (picked up on the 17th). My spouse got me a beef tenderloin because he loves me and knows that's my all-time favourite cut of meat forever. He got himself a rib eye steak. The quality of the meat cannot be matched! It was so delicious; cooked up well and even looked delicious raw. The fat on my piece melted off and I didn't have to give any of it to my spouse (I give him the fatty parts because I can't stand the texture). My spouse loved his too and said it was one of the best steaks he's had in a long time. Customer service at Nick's is beyond compare! We ordered over the phone and the order was ready within 2 hours of ordering; the option to do curb-side pickup during the pandemic is a really great thing too. My spouse opened my steak to look at it when he got home from picking them up and he found the twine on my steak to be confusing so he called and asked how to cook it. Nick's was more than happy to explain how to cook it (most people remove the twine for cooking, apparently) and lived up to their name by being friendly. I highly recommend Friendly Nick's for all your butcher needs. We'll definitely be back. read more

my husband got very sick with what could only have been from pork we purchased here. The only thing he ate that day was pork from here. when I brought it to the owners attention he was very defensive and tried to blame us and our methods of cooking, before offering any accountability or any sort of apology. You can see on their own Instagram and fb they have been having cooling and temperature issues due to the hot weather and ac not working. Nick was very dismissive and accusatory when my husband talked to him and told us he was on a family vacation and would deal with this when he got back with out giving me a date for when he'd be back and now he won't respond. You'd think the owner of a butcher shop that knows he has cooling issues wouldn't blame the customer right away but that's what nick did. Not very friendly at all, thank god I didn't eat this because I'm pregnant. He accused me of slander for this review. He finally refunded the money for the pork but refused to take accountability or apologize and actually said my husband needed to come in and apologize to his staff for "cussing them out" when all he said was "nick is being a dickhead." read more

I can't say enough good about this place. Are you curious about it ? Just walk inside ! That's what I did. I found beef jerky sticks that I bought right off the bat. Then I saw they had more stuff so I started asking questions. (I eat steak frequently and love meat.) I was able to learn about new cuts and bought a few that I learned about. Tasted the first one tonight and was like WOW! It's crazy how flavorful and fresh it was. Left it juicy red in the middle and salt and crushed black peppers. Finished off with butter. Everytime I've entered this shop to pick up meat, I have never been greeted, looked in the eye, or felt a warm welcoming. They are never busy when I go in and the customer service efforts are lacking. Not sure where the warmth is but I feel like I'm a bother every time. There is nothing here I haven't loved. Nick's has amazing cuts of meat, house made sausages, bacon, corned beef brisket for St Patty's Day. Don't feel like cooking? His frozen ziti is delicious- heat it up and you will have an incredible dinner. Nicks house-made jerky is a wonderful snack when back-packing or hiking. No they don't greet you at the door with a juice box and they aren't fake friendly but they are always happy to answer questions and help get you on your way. I like that because I'm there to buy meat and get out. They have fair reasonably priced delicious locally sourced meats- good service and lots of options. I've only just started coming here, but I'll tell you one thing, best bacon in Fort Collins, hands down. It's ready on Friday, and goes fast, so be prepared! I promise, it'll be worth a special trip. 100% grass fed and finished beef. Chicken is vegetarian fed without antibiotics. This was our first visit, and we will be back. For the first time in years, I had a great roast chicken with no weird aftertaste and none of that slimy stuff that's always on chicken that's been wrapped in plastic. I made my first visit to Nick's a couple of months ago, in hopes of finding SOMETHING to feed my ever fickle family and am I ever glad I did! The meat is fantastic - grass fed, and the cow gets to wander around instead of living its life in Supermax. We're partial to flatiron steaks, which can be hard to find at regular grocery. Nick's has them about twice a week. We've also tried bone-in pork chops, tenderloin, hot Italian sausage, chorizo and we've been impressed each and every time. The jerky is so addictively good, I'm surprised El Chapo isn't handing it out. Plus the location is perfect - you can get your meat at Nick's, then get all your other items for your best life within the same shopping center. So leave the gruesome zombie cuts at the grocery store and hoof it on down to Nick's! read more

This place is awesome. The items we've tried so far: pastrami, kielbasa, oatmeal stout sausage, brats, jerky, beef sticks, strip steak. All delicious. The baked ziti in the freezer section is ridiculously good. Our mutts love the pigskin dog treats. Finally, please make more of the Nashville Hot maple breakfast sausage! Soo good! Wow! Nick and his crew have some of the most unique and creatively prepared meats I've ever enjoyed. Everything is top notch and once you try his bacon, well, that's it no bacon will ever compare. I am a local business owner (Ramen Warrior) and wanted to work with a great butcher for my product. Nick and his staff have been spectacular across the board helping me get the protein I need to make my stuff some of the best in town. Every time I'm in there for my meats, I always hope they have some of their beef jerky or beef sticks around for me to snag. Not to mention they do tallow, chicken stocks, bones for your doggos, rotating specials and cuts, and about anything else meat related. If you need something special for a special event? Tell him ahead of time, slap down any deposit necessary, because they will get you what you need if at all possible. They can also tell you exactly how you want to cook it too if you have any questions. I love this place and hope they will find the space they need to keep growing. read more
