In my opinion this is something they needed to bring up right away but instead they finished the job, then came to me afterwards and insisted this was standard practice. In my 30 years of hiring contractors I've never had one come to me after the fact and expect me to pay 50% more than we agreed. So while the work was good, I couldn't recommend using them if you want to know your total cost before you start the project.
