I hate waiting 30-60 mins to see a doctor when I made an appointment weeks in advance! I came in 15 mins early for a 10:15 appointment and I was in by 10:30. Seen by the doctor by 10:45 and out by 11! It was great. Secondly, Dr Scafuri is so nice and friendly. I decided to stay his patient! They are also open on Saturdays which is perfect for my schedule. The only negative is that this office doesn't have parking, but I was able to find street parking a block away so not a big deal.

Last Friday, October 9th, I was told by the doctors that I would hopefully be discharged by Tuesday, October 13th (today), since Monday was Columbus Day. I was under the impression that everything was being arranged for my discharge, including the IV antibiotics I need to continue my treatment at home. Well, today I found out something extremely frustrating. According to the visiting nurse service, my IV medication was NEVER ordered last Friday as I had been led to believe. Instead, the order was just placed TODAY, Tuesday, October 13th! Now, because of this delay, I'm sitting in a hospital bed hoping and praying that my medication arrives Wednesday or Thursday so I can finally be discharged. How does something this important get overlooked? I'm dealing with a serious diabetic foot wound, and the last thing I need is unnecessary stress and delays because of poor communication or a failure to coordinate my discharge properly. I understand that hospitals are busy, and I appreciate the doctors and nurses who have been taking care of me. But when a patient is told one thing and later discovers something completely different, that's unacceptable. Now I understand why Staten Island University Hospital has received such disappointing patient experience ratings, including a reported 2 out of 5 stars. Patients deserve better communication, better coordination, and accountability. I'm not asking for special treatment. I'm simply asking for the hospital to follow through on what patients are told, especially when their health, recovery, and ability to return home are on the line. I've been here long enough. I just want to recover safely and go home to my family.
