Savers' new store on Branch Avenue is large, well-lit, and clean. The staff are helpful, the product selection is huge, and the prices are almost always a steal. How much detail can I really go into about a huge thrift store? There's not much else to say about this place, other than the fact that I've gotten some amazing deals. I love all Savers. However, I find this Saver's furniture section very pricey and the stuff is usually prettttyyy beat up. I think the one in North Attleboro is much better for furniture. I always seem to find a good clothes selection at this one though. They always have good brands and cheap price tags. I love how the Savers look so much cleaner than Salvation Armys. read more

Understaffed register lines. This Savers will be packed, parking lot full, and they'll be 3 registers open, and 5 closed, with a deep line moving slowly with a lot of price checks and interruptions to the checkout process. I've literally left items behind on multiple occasions because the checkout is such a cluster... here. Seems popular, but I find this location a bummer. I hear Savers is a for-profit and their "charity work" is that they buy clothing in bulk deals from other charities. read more

I can't get enough Savers! Every time I drop off a bag of donations, I buy twice as much stuff to re-fill up my house! This is my go-to place for kids clothes. They have everything from bathing suits, to winter jackets. My kid DESTROYS clothes, and I don't want to be that mom who is always saying, "oh, be careful, you don't want to ruin your....". I buy her t-shirts and shorts from Savers and then let her play in the mud! You can afford a backup pair of snow pants when you shop at Savers! I found an LL Bean pair there recently. Really though, you can find some really nice things there too. I got her a beautiful holiday dress which looks like it was worn once... and for less than $10... you can not even find that at Marshalls! (And honestly, I have found some really cool things for myself there too). The other thing that keeps drawing me back... are the books! They have great kids books from toddler board books to chapter books. I am like a kid in the candy store there, and everything is so reasonably priced that I let myself indulge! read more

I love this Savers. They are huge and have amazing quality clothing. I am plus size, 6' tall woman and I actually found some nice clothing in tall sizes. The quality is amazing for work clothes and the price is right. I'm assuming that they have a lot of work clothes because they are in Providence, where a lot of businesses are. I can't believe that I haven't posted a review of this place yet. Savers is a gem! It has a fabulous population of donors (including myself) who contribute a steady stream of high quality items for donation, sometimes giving us coupons for future purchases. Note that I also don't live in the area anymore but tend to hit up this savers as often as I can when I'm passing through providence. Being a poet -- a fellow providence poet apparently stopped by recently, because copies of poetry and puerto del sol are currently on the shelves. Med students, too -- I saw a few physiology texts. Calculus books, for the high school/college kiddies as well. I'd reckon to say that if a bestseller book has hit the theaters, multiple copies of the books will appear at savers. Being a baker as well (whose roommate ruined several cookie sheets by placing them and some ikea cutting boards in the oven for preheating oven plastic soup) -- I was happy to find 2 wear ever airbake sheets in excellent condition for 2 each. And a couple DVDs for 2 each. And did I say, a 3 dollar coupon off 10 bucks? And a Shakespeare's tragedies compendium for my friend's preteen son for Christmas for a dollar? My former hairstylist at Coiffurium said that her relative once found. Lululemon jacket at savers for super cheap, that she then sold on eBay. Several caveats. Selection varies with season and luck. i love this savers. it is super organized and as a teacher i buy books on books on books here and i am always shocked at how little i spend once i get through check out. for every 4 books you buy, you get 1 free, and they frequently run programs where you get stamps for spending or donating a certain amount and eventually get discounts on purchases. i feel like all the complaints listed here - prices (ASTRONOMICAL is a bit much..... after all) and alleged lack of "quality" items are more due to the fact that buying second hand is more popular / typical today than a decade ago than due to anything savers is doing wrong. and of course, after all savers is in the business of making a buck. so, yes, things they know will go are priced to make them a dollar - but you can still definitely find good deals here (i can't tell you how much organizational stuff i've bought for my classroom, at a FRACTION of the price i would have bought it new, even at target or walmart), esp if you are comparing to buying new, or have ever thrifted in our neighboring states. sometimes you can end up waiting in line for a while, but i feel like that's p. much the thrift store status quo. read more

I've been bring big bags of clothes to savers when my grandchildren out grown there clothes for years. Yesterday I stopped in to shop and was hit with prices that are totally unreasonable. They are getting the used /handme down clothes for free and charging prices I can get from retail discounts. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! While in the store another lady made the same comment to me. I've been holding off on leaving a bad review on this place for a while but I can no longer keep my mouth shut.. I've been frequenting thrift stores in my area for about the past 5 years and this one was always decent; Good selection, fairly clean and reasonable prices. Sadly, that all changed in about the last year.. This is the type of place you shake your head so often you'll get a headache.. The selection is skimpy. Its easy to tell you're looking through someone's sloppy seconds. The employees are cherry picking the donations, and not being very quiet about it. Too many young kids working in the back taking matters into their own hands and the management seems to allow it or be in on it.. Long lines. You'll find understaffed registers with mostly rude cashiers awaiting you. I've left stuff behind because I didn't want to wait in line for 10 minutes. Also when a new register does open they just say "next customer in line" and the whole line attempts to migrate over which is always funny. Parking. Not really their fault but I swear this place is always packed. On sale days, FORGET IT. You CAN NOT park there unless you're already waiting at 8am. Also pulling out of the lot (4 lanes of traffic) can be a problem if its the wrong time of day.. Would really love to see this store back to the way it was but I'm afraid its fallen too far by the wayside.. May be time to clean house Savers Providence read more

What an awesome place. Very large, clean thrift store. We found tons of jeans and clothes. We had never heard of this place until a friend brought us there to pick up something for a Halloween costume. We went on a shopping spree! The items were of good to great quality (used). Fitting rooms were readily available. We purchased 4 pair of jeans, 1 denim skirt, 1 pair of shoes, 2 costume jewelry necklaces, one leather jacket and one suede coat.......all for $103!!!! Wow I couldn't believe 19.49 for a used dress this past Tuesday. Not new ~ no tags. Another was 17.49 and the designer label had been cut out. Every few months the prices of the dresses (and most everything) creeps up and up. About 4 years ago the average dress was under 10.00. Today the average dress is 10.00 to 15.00. And many are more. These are not new with a tag, and not perfect. All must be laundered. There's a sign that states DRESSES STARTING AT 3.99. Try to find one. I was told that there's a new way the computer decides how to price an item with 4 criteria. The computer spits out the price tag based on the criteria. Seems it should be simpler and faster to price a donated item ~ since this is thrift. Sounds more like a retail store for profit. Again, this past Tuesday, an employee was given the job to get rid of all the breakables that I guess had been on the floor too long.This employee took glasses, dishes, all breakables and threw them into a huge bin. CRASH CRASH CRASH for the hour I was there. Talk about disrespecting your customers! Loud and obnoxious. This should be done while store is closed. And how is it okay to not recycle these? Can't you give them away rather that destroy???? SAVERS would lose money / too much trouble by doing this I guess? Other adults who was shopping that day were questioning this decision. No other SAVERS destroys things in front of their customers. As the prices rise, the shopping experience should too. But it hasn't. Kids running around thinking it's a playground/leaving toys scattered throughout the store. Employees/managers say nothing. Trash/dust bunnies on the floor that is swept by employee during business hours. Not! Filthy exterior. Below standard restrooms. Understood that this is an urban store but other large urban stores care much more about their customers. Managers who refuse to call employees to registers ~ they walk / scuttle about all of the customers waiting very impatiently in line and do nothing! At times the managers that hold the very precious key to VOID a sale is no where to be found. They should be available at all times, and are not. SAVERS please don't bother trying to contact me about my opinion. It's been stated many times on the surveys I take. I return because if I enjoy the hunt, and can sometimes find a treasure. It is a nice store. And in response to Carly, why donate there as opposed to other places you mentioned, I can only guess that it's because they are not as picky as those other places? Those other places won't pick up, or will refuse certain things, they don't return calls or answer their phones, and that's just my experience, but I'm guessing the ease of donation is the biggest reason people donate there. read more

Savers is a thrift store chain that offers a wide variety of clothing, shoes, toys, along with other used items such as lamps and dishes. They run from lightly used to 'not really even worth the fifty cents it is going for' in quality and wear. My favorite time of the year to shop here is Halloween, as there are so many different themes to choose from when I'm putting together my yearly zombie costume (zombie nurse, zombie bride, zombie club chick, etc). They also have packaged costumes that run quite a bit more than throwing together something yourself. They also have fake blood, makeup, etc that you need for perfecting a great costume. Aside from my favorite holiday, I have also purchased dresses for weddings and other events and I must say you can't get a better deal than when you find a great designer in mint condition for under ten bucks. The staff never seem too thrilled about their careers but they never are rude and are generally helpful. I highly recommend Savers for your thrifting needs when you don't want to pay hipster "vintage" thrift store prices. read more

Actually my first time coming to Savers. I came in looking for a black pair of pants for work & got a pair for $6. Score! Definitely a large store & selection. Some items did seem overpriced.. Not really too fond of the shoe section, most shoes were beat down. (But what do you expect from a thrift shop lol) The furniture section was pretty cool, definitely coming back to pick up some pieces to spice up my home. read more

Two beautiful sweaters... one, a black boxy turtleneck in 2-ply cashmere, the other: an aubergine raw-edged crewneck in uber-fine merino wool. $14 for both just yesterday!! I've shopped a number of Savers from New Bedford, Fall River to Plymouth. This one always has a hidden treasure. So satisfying! read more
