A really surprising thrift store for me. It was such a large store and it was so organized. There was a lot of mechdise and some of it was ridiculously overpriced. I can't explain it but I think that they look at the names on the label and then price from there, but forgot that everything is used. I actually found a few items that seemed reasonably priced. We have dropped off many items at Savers through the years. It's very convenient to anyone in RI, especially if you live downtown, since it's only a few miles north, right off the Branch Ave exit. You can drive your car very close to the bins and leave your items inside them. They also have help if you need any help with large items. Great place to donate goods, clothes, small appliances and such. read more

Right off of interstate. If you are going south it's easy to turn into but a little more challenging if you are traveling north. Lot of items on the shelves and seems orderly. Carts though could use an upgrade. Wheels on many of them are broken so it'd be nice if they got new carts to make it easy to push the carts while shopping for items. First cart I put back, second one wasn't as bad but still had problems with wheels. read more

I was looking for a vase specifically a purple one and I found it, great heavy quality and if you donate they give you a 20% off coupon which I had. I also bought to other items. I'm updating my review because I'm so over this store. It's ridiculous! This place used to be a great spot to find some good stuff. Back in the day I would come here and walk out with something 80% of the time. These days I'm leaving empty handed and frustrated! The prices are trash. The selections are picked over to hell and atrocious! I found out why! If you aren't coming here before noon you don't have a chance of finding a thing worth buying. I'm also frustrated with these damn customers! More than one occasion I've seen people just block whole aisles with their carts and friends! I've tried to get to an aisle where a woman is filling her cart to the absolute brim and she has no regard for me or other shoppers! It's rude and disrespectful! People also have this obsession with hogging entire racks for themselves. You can't get to the jeans for example, because Jerry is over here making sure nobody is looking at HIS rack! If you go near their spot they give you nasty ass looks and if you say excuse me. It kinda snaps them back to reality, but they begrudgingly move a few inches. Almost like you're inconveniencing them! Give me a break! I've stopped saying excuse me, it's useless at this point. I'm just so fed up with the absolute carelessness and selfish nature of the Savers customers. I just started giving nasty looks. At this point you're a grown adult who should have learned sharing and boundaries by now. I shouldn't have to say excuse me more than twice. If you and your dumb friends can't respect other shoppers, then leave the fucking store! Gah! Seriously avoid this store it's not worth the headaches. You may think you're going to find a deal. After doing some home cleaning, I had bags of clothes and other household items for donation. I came across Savers who partners with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island, a local nonprofit. I've been to this location of Savers by Stop & Shop on Branch Ave multiple times to drop off donations. Drop off is quick and easy since there is a drive up section for you to drop off your items. You don't even need to turn off your ignition. Savers is committed to giving reusable items a second chance at life while helping save millions of pounds of clothing and household goods from landfills every year. Each time items are donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island at Savers, Savers pay them for items which provides revenue to help Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island fund important programs in the community. There is a big parking lot so you can also go in and check out the store. I've never been inside. When exiting, turning left on Branch Ave to get onto the I-95 S is tricky sometimes so I always just turn right on Branch Ave and make my way back to the I-95 S. read more

I have been to several Savers stores around the country but it's been awhile. There were a few things that didn't sit well with me. First, there's not many staff and the majority of registers are self-checkout. There were no signs indicating what color tag was 50% off. It took me awhile to locate a staff person to find out the color. Why are the signs no longer? The prices seemed about 10-30% higher than where they should be. It feels a bit disrespectful when you pretty much have to do the work of staff at self check out AND pay more. They have a large parking.lot with plenty of parking, so at least there's one positive. I found 3 really nice true bras in excellent condition. I like that you can accumulate points and you get discounts. We were not expecting to be in this neck of the woods today, but as we were, we decided to pop in to this Savers and have a look around. This space is quite large and there are so many rows of clothing! It's set up a like a discount department store. The shelves were neat and staff were restocking. They really have quite a variety of items and you do need a bit of time to sort through it all. The first couple of shelves had holiday items and on the wall smaller holiday items were bagged up, hanging. Plenty of glass ware, pans, small appliances, toys and art work too. The store was very busy and carts were full to overflowing in a few cases. All the check out's here are 'self serve' with one employee there to assist. There were several lanes open and the line moved quickly. Bring your own bags, or buy one of theirs. Cash and cards accepted. read more

Could this be the best Savers... ever? In all my years of working in the theatre both as a performer and as a costume designer, this location has been a faithful friend and resource that has rarely let me down. For a thrift shop, it's pretty well organize and very clean. The variety of clothing, shoes, accessories, and even home goods never ceases to amaze me. Where else can you find great brand name items (a $12 nearly new Elie Tahari sheath dress) right next to a collection of limited edition NSYNC bobbleheads? I mean, come ON. How can it get any better than that? For the sake of full disclosure, I will say that Savers has definitely caught on to the fact that trash millennials like me probably make up a good percentage of the clientele, and they've marked up their prices in recent years to reflect that. However, even though there are less expensive thrift stores out there, Savers usually comes through with unique finds that are actually of good quality, and this location is the cream of the crop. If you find yourself in the neighborhood with an hour to spare and the desire to go bargain hunting for some hidden treasures, this is the shop for you! read more

They recently closed their changing rooms due to COVID and have a 14-day exchange (not return) policy in effect. Although I am not a scientist, I do not see how closing the changing rooms actually prevents the spread of COVID-19, especially because almost all restrictions in Rhode Island have been lifted. This leads me to believe that this policy is more intended to sweeten the pocketbooks of those at the top of the Savers corporation. As an organization that primarily serves low-income families, I think it is an abomination and socially unjust to prevent families from being able to try on their clothes prior to purchase. Many families lack the time to exchange the items they purchase and there is no way to tell whether these items fit without trying them on. Additionally, the fact that you cannot return items, but merely exchange them for other items means that families cannot get their money back if the items do not fit. Because this racist policy takes power away from mainly black and brown families in the Providence area in order to boost corporate profits, I do not believe Savers is doing right by its customers. read more

I came the day before Halloween because I made the dumb mistake of getting my kids costumes late September and now, after almost daily use, they are torn lol. I went to savers to save the day, because I'm not spending another $100 on two kids costumes and I left spending FIFTEEN. Literally. My daughters was $11 and my sons was $4. This location is a tricky one. It really does support the area in relation to the less fortunate and homeless. One more than one occasion I have seen true homeless count their pennies for a new shirt and change it in the parking lot. Where that might be a turn off for most, it makes me happy to see that someone with practically nothing, has a safe place to buy something without judgement. They typically have some very fashionable women's clothing. They book selection is amazing! You can find a diverse selection here, and in multiple language's. The other day I found a Qur'an, a French version of "The Little Prince", and also someone's entire collection of Russian (launguage) non-fiction. They also have a ton of vinyl records that rotate through, DVDs, CDs (even cassettes). They have a hearty rotation of kids clothing. It is not my favorite Savers but it serves the city well and is very easy to get to. I'm not sure if it have changed but the managers were quite rude at one point. love the stuff here, been coming for years - back in december i dropped off a bunch of bags/items and got like 4 coupons that expire that same month (dec 2023)... i asked if it would be OK to use them after jan 1 and they said yes just tell the attendant that you got it in december. i know it's july and it's kinda far but i went to redeem my last one today (other three were fine when i did as instructed) and i was turned away? pretty annoyed cos i would've saved $15. sometimes ppl at corperations take their jobs way too seriously esp for minimum wage read more

My friend and I carpooled yesterday to drop off several large trash bags of gently used clothes, goods, and electronics. We pulled into the drop off area and waited a moment but the employee working at the top of the stairs saw us but would not help us load the heavy bags into the provided bins. We moved them ourselves and waited another moment for him to give us the advertised 20% off voucher. He still did not walk to us. I walked over to him and asked for a couple of vouchers (one for my friend and one for me). He gave me one and walked inside. When I tried asking for another for my friend again he continued to walk away and rudely yelled "one per car" before he disappeared. So now we are being penalized for carpooling? We donated enough items for Savers to make hundreds of dollars of profit. My friend grabbed her stuff back and donated it to the Salvation Army instead (non-profit). We won't be returning. read more

This Savers store usually has a good selection. Good sales, but shoes are pricey. Sometimes you get great deals, other time items are priced higher than you'd pay for the same thing brand new at Walmart or on Amazon. Sales are wonderful, as are the 30% off cards you build up by making donations. The best thing to do is go regularly-- and get lucky. All seniors enjoy a 30% discount on Tuesdays. read more

I picked it up and spent the next hour trying to get the grease off of my fingers. $14 for a broken down, dirty old set of cheap shelves? I could get them brand new for the same price from Benny's. And oh boy, you can lug all of this overpriced crap up to the registers and get waited on by the most miserable bunch of cashiers in the world. I understand it must be depressing to slave away in such a soul-killing establishment, smelling mildew and BO for eight hours, but would making eye contact kill you? I love me some Savers. I mean, what isn't there to love! Great deals on some quality items, with half price days and several promotions each month. I honestly do not know why anyone would shop anywhere else? I always leave with a pile of clothes or cute set of vintage cocktail glasses that I didn't need but had to have. I can get lost for hours in one of your stores and often find myself driving to 2 or 3 nearby locations. Today, pulling up to your Branch Ave location in Providence made me very very sad. The blatant disrespect for our city. The amount of trash littering the front of your store and around the entire faculty is disgusting! You have got to be ashamed of yourselves for not doing anything about this. I have overlooked it far too many times but now, it's at a point where I am embarrassed for you. How many people work in this store daily? Weekly? Day in and day out and NOBODY thinks to do something about this? When I stepped out of my car today, my foot squished down into what I thought was a pile of dog shit, but luckily once I got the courage to look it was a huge pile of grey mush that could have once been newspaper or something like that... I have mixed opinions of this Savers location. It makes a lousy first impression, because the parking lot is usually close to full, and, as other reviewers have stated, there is a lot of trash strewn about the parking lot. Furthermore, the loading dock looked like something out of a third-world country. Also, the entrance is not at ground level, but you have to ascend steps (or a ramp) to a concrete platform, which is kind of uninviting looking. Inside the store, though, is quite roomy, and there is plenty of room among the aisles. The layout seems fairly well organized, and, more importantly, has remained constant over the past few years. I seem to score better finds at this Savers than the store in Warwick. Another plus is that it is located right across from an on-ramp to I-95 south, so that it is very convenient (although Branch Avenue can be very busy, and it can be hair-raising to take a left turn out of here). Besides the trash, the biggest negative about this Savers is that it is slow checking out. They only had three cashiers, and they did not move very fast at all. read more

I understand resellers also shop there, but they get this stuff for free and their target market is supposed to be people on a budget. If the resellers get a deal, so what? I am in AWE of this Savers. The vastness alone is "wow"-worthy, but what makes it remarkable is how such a huge store can be maintained with such organization and cleanliness. And not stink! Loose parts are all sorted into these perfect little clear baggies - a place for every piece of junk and every piece of junk in its place. The staff are pleasant. As the seasons change, rows and rows of clothes go on sale at 50% off. My favorite feature: Picture a grocery store basket. Now put wheels on it and a long handle that flips up for drag-ability. GENIUS! I've only seen these in European grocery stores. You can load up your little cart and cruise the aisles staying out of the way. Still, I am confused by the Savers model. They're for-profit - why donate your stuff to them when you can support the Providence Clothing Collaborative, Big Sisters, Salvation Army...? read more

My relationship with Savers has been quite a long one, it was one of the first places I would drive myself as a nervous 16 year old and somewhere I still go on a lot of Friday nights because whole foods salad for dinner and thrifting has been a tradition of mine since college. Warwick, while not excellent holds a place in my heart. I find this one to be my least favorite Savers now that I've been frequenting some in Mass a bit more. I did like the following here: No buzzer/bell/agitated persons trying to make a donation and getting everyone riled up. People pricing may not know what they are handling. $6 J Crew orange and white strapless cotton dress perfect for a summer wedding? Yea, I snatched that up as it was next to an H&M dress with a higher price point attached. I feel like they keep the racks here a bit more bare- maybe to be able to tell if things are being swiped etc, but it can make for easier perusing. I lived very close to this Savers for the past year and have made exactly one trip in because of past memories. I'm not upset with myself for that decision. read more

Thrift stores are usually at the mercy of who brings in donations so I would like to thank the person who decided to dump their perfectly nice, TOPSHOP dresses off at this location. Whoops, I confused this location with the East Providence one in my previous review. (Both are coincidentally near Stop & Shops!) I finally came here and it did not live up to its nearby cousin. This store is fairly small. The selection of books, furniture, and clothes is noticeably more limited than the East Providence location. There's also that "thrift store funk" in the air that's not super pleasant. On the plus side, the employees were really friendly and eager to explain the upcoming sales, and there were a ton of fairly clean fitting rooms! If you're looking to thrift shop in Providence, this place is OK, but I would make the trek across the Seekonk to East Providence! read more

Savers, I'm so, so sad to say, is a shadow of what it once was, and nowhere is this more evident than at the Savers store on Branch Avenue in Providence. A few years ago, Savers was truly a haven for the best deals on the planet. I'm talking name brand, coveted labels for less than $10, every time. And going back even further, the legendary dollar bag sales! And the spectacular vintage and handmade pieces that were once on offer there! What used to be a weekly pilgrimage for me has become a place that I very rarely bother to visit. Today, the stores, particularly the one on Branch Avenue in Providence, have just become too big for their britches. I don't know if it's the city location, the fact that the hipsters have discovered (and in so doing, have gentrified) Savers, or the proximity to the colleges and universities in the area, but many, many times, the prices in this store are higher than what you'd find - brand new! - at TJ Maxx or Marshall's. As someone who has shopped here for 15 years, this angers me. Additionally, the chain introduced the "Super Savers Club" about one year ago, as a sort of special, members-only opportunity to get sneak preview sales and special deals that others couldn't enjoy (such as, a 50% off sale the day before the actual 50% off sale). This was, at first, awesome. However in recent months, the stores are no longer offering members anything different from what the general public enjoys, aside from the occasional 30% off day. To be honest, the time and effort one spends rooting through all the garbage to find real treasures is worth more than a 30% discount. The Providence store offers more quality finds, on average, than any of the other Savers stores. Their prices are also, on average, about 25% HIGHER than any other Savers store. Really, Branch Avenue "Savers?" How much longer can you get away with calling yourself by that name? read more

Holy shit. It is like Target and Goodwill got together and had a baby, and this is it. I don't think I've ever seen such an extensive and well-organized thrift store. You definitely have to poke around to get any good stuff - what do you expect, it's a thrift store - but I always find at least one good thing here. So far I have acquired 1) a pair of awesome polka-dot shoes for $4, 2) a belt for like $1 and 3) a television set (working!) for $30. Way more convenient than craigslist. (Although n.b. for TV shoppers - do check and see whether there is a REMOTE. I forgot all about this and had to buy a universal remote from Walmart, but that was completely my own fault). This Saver's is better than the one in Warwick in a few areas: 1. There was a dude who specifically works at the donation center who was ready to take my bag of clothes and stamp my card. He was also extremely friendly and made me smile with his positive attitude 2. The dressing rooms are larger and have actual mirrors inside them 3. Lots of young college students to ogle while you browse 4. more designer stuff (found a worn Jacobs by Marc Jacobs for Marc by Marc Jacobs bag for $20) The only sucky part is getting in and out of their parking loft. This store is the promise land for buying baby clothes for my little one! Unlike some other Savers stores, this one has a good variety of neatly organized baby/children clothes. I was so proud of my thrift finds with Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Baby Gap! Since I am looking for clothes for the little one, I am more meticulous and picky with the quality. However, I am quite impressed with quality and how they are being handled. Everyone who works there have been helpful to me. The guy working at the donation pick up always has a great smile and is super friendly. This store loses 1 star because the people at the register can be a hit or miss. One time it took 30 minutes to check out because the staff didn't know how to apply the 30% discount code from the stamp card, then she entered the wrong amount on my credit card, had to ask the manager for amendments, then took 10 minutes to load up 10 items into the plastic bag. I wasn't in a hurry but I felt bad for the line of people standing behind me. I got some dirty looks - but hey, it wasn't my fault!! : ( Few tips: 1. Make sure you ask for the stamp card. You get a stamp for every $5 you spend. When the card is full, you get a 30% discount for the next purchase. 2. Sign up for Savers Fan Club so you will be informed of the 50% deals. I don't know what all of the hype about Savers is all about. It's a glorified Salvation Army with less dank surroundings for goodness sake already! This particular Savers location isn't too bad and it's probably the nicest Savers I've stepped foot in and that is because it's fairly new. It's bright, fairly clean, organized and doesn't have the overpowering "old stuff/old person" smell... only a little smidge of the stink is present. Personally, I find that about 50% of the clothing is overpriced. Yes, you can find some designer labels attached to a shirt that was popular back in the mid 90's and unless you have some serious patience and time to kill, it's hard to find a hidden gem. I have purchased a couple of cardigans for work here and a couple of things for my kitchen, but overall, it's a hit or miss. Perhaps I just haven't dedicated enough time and/or effort into searching the rows upon rows upon rows of racks. I will say, however; my most favorite part of Savers is the book section and it's where I spend most of my time and most of my money. This Branch Ave. Savers, and I believe most, if not all of them, have a good deal for us book lovers; buy 4 books and get 1 free. I'll take it! read more

I found Savers after falling in love with their Canadian counterpart, Value Village. Although I can't tell you which of the two is better (Value Village...) I will say that Savers is a great place for finding some pretty cool pieces at extremely inexpensive prices. Coats, jackets, sweaters, jeans; they have everything, even houseware items. I recommend them to my friends mostly for dressing during the winter season because their collections of jackets, sweaters, and coats are usually some of the best pieces you will ever find. Plus don't miss their sale days (usually runs during a public holiday like President's Day) where they offer between 30-70% their clothes. Now I don't want to brag but I once went during their aforementioned President's Day sale and got at LEAST 10 winter coats, sweaters, and a pair of amazing Hugo Boss vintage jeans for $98...try getting the same amount and same stylish items for that price at Warwick or Providence Place Mall. This is like the motherload of all Savers. A crazy huge book selection, a decently sized home goods area and more clothes than we had time to look through. I was pleased with how clean the place was. It didn't feel like a thirft store as much as it felt like a Marshalls. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind getting my hands dirty, but everything was organized and clean and lovely. They had a nice selection of cloths and other stuff, and was able to get some awesome deals here!
