After going to Old Bag Vintage Ann suggested another thrift experience Nostalgia within a mile. I decided to make a stop. Parking can be challenging but I found street parking. This place is I believe two floors even though I did not venture past the first level. They do have lots of pieces clothing accessories and a little extras in between. Prices range from reasonable to high end. They did have a few glass cases near the check out register that I was looking at but not one person asked if I needed assistance even though they were within sight. Two men and a lady just behind the counter chatting away. I looked around a bit more but felt like it didn't matter if I was there or not. Not even greeted on entering. It's hard to walk out without something, but I always find high quality, unique, pieces. I went here, excited that there was an antique shop in the area, as those are becoming hotter and harder to find. Don't bother - let me have done it for you. Head to toe of complete garbage. It's all leftover stuff that they couldn't sell on the Internet. There's some niche things like fancy chest sets. If I were into such a thing that would be the only reason I would go there. Just going to Fox Hill is so depressing with the destruction due to gentrification. Walking by the destroyed building that used to house the Duck and Bunny just makes me want to cry. This is all so unnecessary - but it's driven by greed. Ask the Capeverdians. read more

This shop is like a walk down memory lane. Old metal lunch box, the glassware my Nana used, lots of clothes, artwork, jewelry. You name it' it's probably here. You really have to keep an eye open so you don't miss anything. Coffee mugs on a shelf between rows of clothes, quilted bags near dish ware, one willow plate here, another over there. LP's and comic books. Very much a treasure hunt on three floors. As we were walking through the shop it occurred to me you can absolutely set up housekeeping with everything in this shop. Baking pans, lamps, curtains, artwork, dishes and so much more. We picked up a belt buckle and a metal plant holder to attach to the house. Update: Despite my previous raving review, I have to remove 2 stars for the pompous and condescending attitude of the owner of this store and another male employee who looks almost just like him. I try my best to overlook a lot of negativity in people, but when I get that disgusted, queasy feeling about someone...ugh!! I won't be returning to this place, sorry. Old review: Probably the coolest consignment store in RI that I know of with a HUGE eclectic collection from different vendors renting out space in this tri-level store. Prices are also very reasonable, unlike some of the ridiculously over-priced antique/vintage stores. I think it's CRAZY to pay retail for USED merchandise regardless of how trendy they may seem. That said, I discovered some unique and hard to find treasures at Nostalgia-- a beautiful SS bracelet from Mexico ($10), brand new Anthropology leather belt ($15), hand-made patch work skirt ($10), and There's Something About Mary soundtrack CD for only $2 (I've been looking all over for this for YEARS!!! I wasn't emotionally prepared for the gem of Nostalgia Providence that awaited me during my initial visit here. It was a cold winter night for a Miami girl visiting and I was destined to walk out with a set of leather gloves. Let me tell you, I walked out with so much more... The experience here will always stay close to my heart as I'll never forget my logistical traverse amongst the three levels of vintage finds that still makes my heart flutter thinking of it. It's perfect mayhem in every way allowing your dig for goods to be based solely on your own efforts of proper procurement skills. Basically, if you're groovy then you have the power within you to score a solid purchase but you gotta put in a little sweat equity to really find the gems. I found myself circling certain area over an over again in pure awe of their inventory. I really regret not buying that brown silk cardigan-looking top but it lives only in my dreams now I guess. I scored a solid beaded belt, earrings, leather gloves and a gold ring that I wear almost daily now. I ended up losing the gloves (only to find them later) and came back two days later for another set of gloves. There's no thrift store as groovy as Nostalgia Providence in my book so my visit here will forever be recorded in my memory as a treat. read more

What a great thrift store find! I'm new to the area and was looking to check out some thrift/vintage stores and came across Nostalgia. The selection of vintage clothes, accessories, and decor was amazing! They have 2 stories so there is plenty to look around. The pricing is also pretty reasonable which I love! WOW how have I not discovered Nostalgia before?! Not only does it have a huge, fantastic selection, but it's also conveniently located right on Wickenden! Did I mention it's 3 floors? The booths here have a really diverse assortment of items (clothing, jewelry, decor, art, china, furniture, taxidermy...). No matter what your impulse purchase weakness is, you can find it here. Most things seemed pretty reasonably priced as well. Call me stingy, but I hate to spend more than $20 on something, and there were plenty of things under that limit here. The store seems to get pretty busy on weekends, but not so packed that you can't shop in peace. The people working here (seemed like the owners) were super nice and friendly. They take credit cards as well as cash. My only complaint would be that the basement was a little musty, but hey, my basement is a little musty too! :) I can't wait to stop by again and browse because I'm sure I passed over some treasures the first time. You should make multiple passes through every area because there's so much stuff, it's easy to miss things! Great selection of vintage jewelry with many pieces in sterling and semi-precious stones. Decent selection of books- some clothes, lots of random decor items. There were some items that were just weird- like why are they selling some random empty wine bottle that looks like it just came off the shelf at Trader Joe's? However, overall, it's fun to browse and you might just find a perfect treasure! Prices did not seem terrible either! Enjoy! read more

WOW is all I can say. If you have a couple of hours and are in the area this is definitely a place to poke around. From the basement to the 3rd floor Nostalgia Providence is chock full of pretty much anything. From knick-knacks to clothing there is something for everyone here. It seemed to me that most of the space in the store was rented to various sellers so it makes for a pretty eclectic shopping experience. It's fun just to go from room to room but if you don't know what you are searching for it can get a bit over whelming, especially the basement where I felt it got a bit claustrophobic. I suggest your fuel up with some lunch or coffee at one of the cute shops along Wickenden Street before you go. This is one store where all your senses will be put into play. read more

I have a theory about antiques that they're one of the two. 1) a collection of old-looking things that are really just painted to look old or given the rusty feel or 2) a collection of vintage items that are actually collected from different areas. Unbelievable finds, at super affordable prices (given the quality). I walked in and found a three piece suit, a dinner jacket, a corduroy sport coat, two pairs of dress shoes, a brooch, a hat, and even an old Aussie boomerang. On a bike... I had to buy a pannier from the shop down the street just to haul it all away! I spent over three hundred dollars in one sitting. Wasn't planning on going here but spotted it when I was in the neighborhood record shopping. This place is super cool and way larger than I first thought it would be when I walked in the door. The basement is alright--could be skipped but definitely check out the top floor! Clothes are pricey so I skipped them. Lots of booths have 1/2 price specials. I ended up getting a Big Eyes type piece of art that I was so stoked about. Also got a fun, velour, bright reddish-orange lampshade for $8, & a 1970 Berenstain Bears I Can Read Xmas book for only $2 that my elementary school students are going to love. I like what Nostalgia brings to Wickenden street. It nicely complements the other businesses and provides the perfect size consignment and vintage store to browse through on an afternoon stroll. I am not entirely sure how their merchandise is set up, but to me it seems the first floor is their own merchandise, and then the stalls upstairs, the basement, and rooms that jut off of the large main room downstairs are outside vendors/coop members (correct me if I'm wrong, please! I am curious!) A little bit of everything is available, and that's nice- furniture, clothing, housewares. The first floor is where the key quality big ticket items are housed. Many desks and hutches, and a rack of wedding dresses! Upstairs there is a focus on kitschy items and knick knacks. It appears since the first time I went they had to implement an employee sitting upstairs by the door to deter sticky fingers. The basement is rough, I won't lie. Stuff is sort of piled and isn't as clean and pristine as one might hope when consigning, but this is where I have found gold...most recently the Pyrex Wheat pattern mixing bowl I have been looking for to complete my set for $7, no chips, no wear on the pattern. Awesome. They even wrapped it up snugly in newspaper and gave me a bag to tote it around it for the rest of my stroll. read more

Definitely a place you have to visit while in providence! I was not expecting many clothes, but there were racks and racks of beautiful vintage clothing. I think everyone could find something they like. The prices are reasonable and cheaper than other antique stores I've been to. There are three floors and all of them have great finds. There are lots of cool trinkets, jewelry, magazines, bags, etc. The staff were very welcoming and fun to talk to. I would highly recommend coming here. If you're into tag sales, this place is essentially the biggest, coolest tag sale. SO many interesting finds and all priced pretty decently. I stumbled in here last weekend and plan on going back again and again. Be prepared to do some digging through the 3 floors of knickknacks! read more
