I enjoy bargain hunting and Savers is a neat store to find good bargains. I stopped at this Savers store, adjacent to the Fox Run Mall in Newington very recently. This good sized thrift store is bright, clean and well organized, comparable to shopping at Goodwill and Salvation Army. There's also a community donation center on site and Savers pays its nonprofit partner(s) based on the number of donations it receives (the Epilepsy Foundation in 03/2011). The donated used apparel and merchandise is sorted and priced accordingly to be sold in the store. Savers stocks a great selection of clothing (mostly women's apparel plus some men's and kids), jackets, shoes, as well as a decent selection of used books, music, movies, toys, games, kitchenware, dinnerware, housewares, glassware, old electronics, knick knacks, collectibles, jewelry, and more miscellaneous "loot" in some "peeps" eyes. The apparel racks are organized by size and color scheme, which is helpful. In the back of the store, there were some old tube TVs, DVD players, stereo receivers and blank cassette tapes (I still have some from the 90s). I also spotted some collectible volunteer fire department mugs from Upstate NY, NJ, and FL, don't know how those items ended up so far away. The prices were a bit much for some of the used goods in the store. However, the books prices are pretty reasonable, paperbacks $0.69-$2.99, hardcovers $2.99, children's books & comics $0.69 and magzines $0.29. Buy 4 books, get 1 free. The checkout lines were not bad and I checked out within 3 minutes. I picked up a couple travel books for some good reading and spent under $5.

This started off as a decent alternative to Goodwill and Salvation Army. Unfortunately they've raised their prices to the point where it isn't fun to shop here anymore. In addition their return policy is terrible... We bought a coffee pot and specifically asked if we could return it if it didn't work. We were told that we could as long as we did so within 7 days. The pot didn't work at all so we brought it back - no returns... All they'll do is to give store credit that has to be used at the time of the return. Very disappointed and will likely never shop here again.

6.99 is the price on this item. It costs 4.95 at Walmart. Greedy much?

Prices have skyrocketed! Might as well go to department stores and buy clearance clothes, mostly cheaper and NEW!

Insane expensive prices for ugly used clothes. They're selling clothing for more than you can buy it new.

They also had a good selection of nick nacks, kitchen stuff, furniture & all that other stuff out back. I was very impressed with their prices. I visited another goodwill store back in April down the street & was very disappointing as their prices were very expensive & they hardly had anything in their store. This is the store to go to!!! I went in hoping that they may have had some Pyrex for sale but didn't find any but walked out with a cat litter box, dish drying pad, old fashion travel iron and a plastic dog food container. The pet stuff I actually got for my Mom's dog & cat. I went in with my friend who was looking for some sheets for his camper bed & he walked out with this super cute small desk & chair for his daughter & a dresser for himself. Those were also reasonably priced. There was a little line that moved kinda slow. There were only 2 cashiers working. I believe they have to manually punch in the prices (I can't remember...lol) so that can make things a little slow.....so don't be in a hurry when stopping in here. In the past I've actually dropped off some donations which was very easy. They had bins on the side of the building that you drop your stuff off in or you could walk it inside next to the bins & drop it off in there. Real quick process.

There was a lady who used to donate her clothes in my size and seasonally, and if I was lucky enough to get in there about the same time, I got some pretty decent things. All of a sudden things changed. The prices became ridiculous. I see more and more folks in there who appear to not be in such need as others. I am not judging. It is merely the observation that the lesser class of us aren't visiting the stores nearly as often as they used to because who can afford to be gouged!? Imagine my shock when I discovered that the clothing was marked higher than what Kohls charges! Granted, I won't be in fashion as soon as it arrives in the stores, but I don't give a rats a$$ about that! Kohls will offer decent clothing if you wait for things to go on clearance. My money is hard to come by and I surely need to be frugal, but I consider it a slap in the face when even I can't afford Good Will! So, pick over the goods for yourselves... price it however you wish so you get a good deal and enjoy it or put it on line to get a good price. I will never donate to you again, nor will I be back to shop. You have lost a regular customer and I'd like to say, :Shame on the whole organization!"

Free People, Karl Lagerfeld, Converse, etc. are all examples of branded items I have found here in the past in like new or very good condition that were very inexpensive. Flash forward to now, they keep a large majority of the "good" items behind a counter that rarely has anyone assigned to it, so if you want to look at any of the clothes, jewelry, purses, shoes, etc. behind that counter, you often have to literally search for an employee. On the racks, every now and then I can still find a deal, but please tell me why Walmart and Target brand clothing are marked up higher than name brands? A Free People shirt for 8 dollars but a Walmart shirt for 11? A Nike shirt with stains and the labels peeling off for 13? A Gildan concert tee for 10? The prices don't make any sense! I've seen multiple jackets and jeans pushing 20 or over 20 bucks, which is INSANE for a thrift store. Some of the clothes and shoes you can buy brand new at Walmart, Target, TJMaxx, etc., for the same price or maybe a dollar more. It's giving greedy, a little. These are donations marked up to extreme highs. I still shop and buy when I find a good steal but it's becoming rarer every time I come.
