Old school vibe with local high schoolers working the counter and limited bench-only seating (several folks were eating their custard in the back of a pickup truck in the parking lot). They have lots of things for sale inside, local produce, eggs, meat, home-baked goods, local organic goods, gourmet goods, artisan crafts, and one of my personal favorites, locally made "Beelzebub's Salsa." I just bought some of the seasonal strawberry salsa the other day. On Saturdays, this is also the place for the local Farmer's Market, with farmers and vendors setting up outside and around the perimeter of the market. This place may be the single most important landmark in all of Meadville, at least in my opinion it is.

This is arguably one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a Dairy Queen ever. My group of…read morefour walks into the lobby and around 2-3 people are standing around lost and confused trying to order food. The one man working behind the counter was either clearly new or was having a very terrible day because he was extremely upset. After taking the order of the few older people already in the lobby I walk up and he angrily asks what I want. I tell him and then the other members of my party order and he harshly tells me to pay and he walks over to the blizzard machine to start our orders. He pours the first one and then sticks his hand into the cup completely contaminating it and then storms away to throw the cup away. He comes back to the ice cream machine completely disheveled and begins working again. His boss then appears out of the back and pulls him aside and tells him to go away for messing it up. The boss was super sweet and efficient and got all our stuff together. I thought it was pretty much over until I saw one of the ladies in the back shove a burger into the microwave to heat it up. I feel like outside of manager this place was just extremely dysfunctional and needs to reevaluate it's practices. The blizzards were great tho!

I ended up back in Meadville because I was trying to stop at a Get Go for food before realizing that the Meadville one was actually just a small gas station for Giant Eagle, hence me stopping at this Sheetz right down the road. I entered, placed my order, and did the usual pay and stand that you usually do at a place like this. I ordered the chicken po'boy and some boneless Buffalo wings for my ride home (Note to self: stop ordering unhealthy food). After 5 minutes or so the employee apologized because one of the other employees made the wrong amount of wings and they said that it would be just a few minutes to fix, which I had absolutely no issues with. My problem came when I actually got the food and left me wishing I actually went to a Get Go. The chicken po'boy looked like it was made by a child who had no idea how to apply cheese, in fact, the cheese was just put on the top of it. The slaw was applied to sloppily that it was basically just on the outside of the sandwich. The sandwich tasted alright but it took about 8 napkins to be able to hold the thing. When the employee packaged the Buffalo wings she put them in the container, added the sauce, and the shook them so violently that I could see Buffalo sauce going absolutely everything somehow but I assumed she would wipe the container done....I was wrong. When I got in my car and took the container out my Buffalo sauce leaked absolutely everywhere.....like, why would you shake a plastic container that much and not at least wipe the mess you made? The food itself wasn't bad, don't get me wrong. On top of the po'boy tasting good, the wings were pretty good too. Overall, Sheetz itself is a pretty solid place to stop and grab breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even some dessert. My personal experience at the Meadville Sheetz was not a great one (although they did give me a coupon for free food). Maybe next time they will clean up the containers, I can only hope.
