The meat department has excellent cuts of steaks at great prices. Huge selection of wine. Many of the stores carry liquor, this one does not. But I have been to the ones that do carry alcohol and they do carry everything. It is unbelievable inexpensive too. The customer service is great. Erik at the customer service area was very helpful and attentive. Since we are coming to South Bend so much we got the Martins advantage card. They have a great app also that gives you all the specials and advantages. Since I have retired , I have done most of the shopping and know the pricing of items we usually buy. Martins is low low low compared to the other stores. If you have never been to a Martins , give it a try. This shiny and clean store appeared to have opened recently in a newly developed area. In true Trader Joe's fashion, you'll find cheap fresh flowers, fun seasonal candles, affordable wine selection, great salad mixes and some of my favorite items like the red chili crunch, frozen croissants and more. Also in tru TJ's fashion, the staff here was incredibly friendly and helpful. It was close to closing time (9PM) during our visit and the store was bustling with shoppers grabbing last minute items. If you're into the flavors of fall - they have you covered with everything from pumpkin beer and pumpkin cream cheese croissants to pumpkin pasta sauce and pepita salsa.

There's something genuinely enjoyable about shopping here, and this location does a particularly good job of making an ordinary grocery run feel like a pleasant experience. The first thing I noticed was how clean and organized everything was. The produce section looked fantastic, with fresh fruits and vegetables neatly arranged and a much better selection than I typically find at other grocery stores. I was particularly impressed by the berries and leafy greens, which actually looked fresh rather than like they'd been sitting on the shelves for days. The bakery was another highlight. Everything looked tempting, and the bread I picked up was excellent. I also appreciate the selection of specialty products that can be difficult to find elsewhere. It's nice being able to shop for everyday groceries while also discovering something a little different. Customer service was excellent. I had trouble locating a particular product, and an employee walked me directly to the correct section instead of just giving vague directions. It's a small gesture, but it makes a difference. Of course, Whole Foods isn't the cheapest grocery store around. Some items are noticeably more expensive than at conventional supermarkets. But the quality, selection, and overall shopping experience make the higher prices worthwhile for certain products. Overall, a really enjoyable place to shop. Clean store, excellent produce, interesting specialty items, and helpful employees. Five stars!

Macri's Italian Bakery and Trattoria is near downtown South Bend, Indiana and has been a staple in…read morethe city since 1978. The baked goods are especially very popular and I see their baked goods brought to parties my boyfriend and I go to all the time. I have had some of their Italian cookies before and thought they were quite delectable! But my visit here for lunch in October 2026 was the first time I tried their non-baked goods. The deli/bakery/trattoria is very large inside and was bustling on a Saturday afternoon when we arrived. We put our orders in on one of the 3 kiosks (we didn't know that we could have put in our order with an actual person at the counter - we would have much preferred that, actually) and then we waited about 8 minutes for our names to be called to pick up our meals. I ordered the chef salad with feta cheese ($16), the Macri's Club wrap for my boyfriend ($13), chips for him ($2), and two soft drinks ($2.50 each). I noticed that some of the information in the food description is wrong/missing ingredients when ordering at the kiosks. For instance, I didn't see cheese of any kind listed in the chef salad description so we paid $1.50 extra to add feta. Turns out, it did come with mozarella cheese so we paid $1.50 extra for no reason. Also, I wish they had more than one diet soda option in the fountain drink options. Anyway, the total cost for lunch, after tax, tip, and a weird "service fee" for two people was a whopping $44!!!! Absolutely wild! So the actual food was tasty, I gotta give them that. I really enjoyed my accidentally cheese-heavy salad. I love good 'ol carcinagen-heavy deli meat on my salads so I had a great experience with this chef salad. I personally thought my boyfriend's wrap was a little small but he liked it. The meat inside was very fresh and tender. And of course, the Michigan cherry potato chips are the bomb.com. We finished our food in about 20 minutes and still had a little room left for dessert so we got up and shared a cup of coffee chocolate chip gelato. We tried a few of the flavors before making our choice and this was the flavor we could both agree on to share. However, PLEASE offer gelato in more than one size. It is wild that the only portion size available for gelato costs $8! I know it is good quality gelato, but spending $8 on one size of it is ridiculous. So I'll give Macri's 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4. The food was tasty but not $50-total-tasty. And some of the information on the kiosk is incorrect/missing some stuff. I'd definitely come back here, as I'd love to try some of their homemade pastas or pizzas, but would avoid getting any extras or additional products that run up the price. And what in earth was the 1.5% service fee for? Oy vey!
