But this last time when I went there in the morning at N. Canton store in early April '24, was semi-rudely told to not take 2 or 3 extra plastic bags at checkout because she, the cashier, has to pay for them, later saying the store has to pay for them (obviously). I needed them to split some items for others buying for and to make it easier for carrying them (elderly mid - seventies). I had just bought over $125 plus another $40 worth of stuff. I know what bags cost, and they certainly don't cost enough to warrant this attitude when I'm spending this much. I will probably go back to this store eventually, but not for a long while, and when inside if I see that cashier again, then I will turn around and leave because I will not be subjected to that attitude & humiliation. Also, I didn't like the 'security' person following me around the store for an hour & a half, keeping at a safe distance like about 20 feet nonchalantly trying to look like a shopper while not having a cart w/ items in it...so obvious. Anyways, they have mostly nice items in there, and recommend the store; just beware of the 'bag crazy' cashier & the security guy. Thanks for letting me vent...

The business is locally owned and operated and the store is neat, clean and organized. Shelves are generally well stocked and employees are super friendly and helpful. Product quality is very good and the prices are very reasonable. This freestanding store has its own private parking lot which is clean and free of debris. The large lot surround three sides of the building and is more than adequate for the business. The store is located on the corner of Market Avenue NE and Sunnyside Street SW in Hartville. There are two access points from Sunnyside Street so getting in our out of the property is easy and convenient. I moved away from this area many years ago but when I come back I appreciate being able to find so many of the local products I love at Sommers Discount Market.

I don't mind too much- the cashiers are quick and efficient, but sometimes if you have just one or two items, the self-check out is a great alternative. I came for their grand opening about a month or so ago and I got a gift card for $10 and a little key chain to hold my quarter. Nice touch. I am a big fan.

Our checker Carly had briefly excused herself and taken off at top speed having grabbed a bag left behind by the the last shopper. She chased the customer down in the dark parking lot! I got to see it because I had taken the opportunity to go to get the car. I called David immediately from the parking lot and said "Get a picture of our checker!" (I had tried to snap a shot of her in the parking lot giving the customer the forgotten bag, but Carly had delivered it and returned to her register before I could get focused.) She heard me. "Did I do something wrong?" (She asked.) David assured her, "No, my wife wants to make sure everyone gets to know how thoughtful you are." It's people like Carly who make this such a great place.

What was pretty cool about this place was there is a side street on the other side of the store and there's a street light on the other side. So random traffic may come by in the parking lot. The items in the Shelf are not well stocked at all. If you pull an item from let's say a shelf. They will not be more of that either behind. The shelves just looks like it's filled. I will say that their plants and pumpkins during those times of the years are a bit overpriced but their mum's in the fall are really pretty. We do try to avoid coming during peak hours because it can get very crowded, very easily. I'd actually love to see them get a bigger building so that shopping was a bit easier for customers.
