Horrible. Didn't actually do the roof repairs that the insurance money paid for. It looked like a…read morethird grader did the part that they DID do. As a woman in her 60's, I was unable to go on the roof to verify that the work was done, & properly. It was like pulling teeth to get a written estimate, went with them as they were the only people I found that would do the work for the amount the insurance would pay. It took months for them to come out & numerous callbacks because of shoddy drywall & paint work. Matt is the worst. He won't return calls or texts of emails. It was only upon selling the house 6 months later that the home inspector noted all the storm damage that wasn't fixed & the shoddy workmanship. Contractor Connections couldn't make them give back the $2500 I had to spend to get it right. Their warranty means nothing. They came out when I wasn't there & pulled out some cap nails that the mitigation team put in day 1 & gooped up the nail heads and and pipe boots. Don't do it ! I wish I had read & headed the yelp reviews. There is no "0" stars.

They did not complete the project which should have been finished more than 6 months ago. When we reached out to have them to finish the repairs they ignored us for months. We messaged them more than 10 times via text, call, and email with no response. Please do not choose these contractors if you want a good repair in a timely fashion. Not only was the project lack luster, but I lost months of rent due lack of accountability.

Derrick Synder and Alex (as well as Lee Ann Daly of State Farm) were all subpar, as my husband (whose expertise is clearly stated in his review here) has pointed out in ways I cannot express because it's not my field. So, his review is especially important to help others to avoid this level of abuse. They not only did horrible work, they added insult to injury by Derrick yelling and Lee Ann insisting my sick husband do Derrick's job. Alex was equally annoying, as was his wife, a cleaner (who also didn't do her job). They did not see the things that needed to be done (neither the big nor the "little" things). That kind of service would have meant a lot to us, too, but that's not our experience. Sounds like it's not many people's experience (according to the internet). We do not appreciate their lack of consideration or workmanship. No one would. Bad company. Period. Avoid them.

Review: Unprofessionalism and Negligence at Belfor Property Restoration…read moreHaving spent 40 years in facilities planning and construction--including 30 years as a Senior Project Manager for a major university--I have never encountered a company as unprofessional as Belfor. Despite their friendly initial demeanor, it became clear that Belfor works for the insurance company, not the homeowner. Our experience was defined by argumentative staff, hidden damage, and incompetence. Missed Damage and Convoluted Estimating The cost estimate provided by Derrick Snyder (General Manager) was the most convoluted I've seen in my career, containing nonsensical items. Worse, they admitted to never inspecting the roof before finalizing the estimate. Consequently, they missed significant fire and smoke damage. When confronted with charred wood and the smell of smoke, Derrick denied the damage existed. Even after his assistant admitted he could smell the fire, Belfor's solution was to use white spray paint to hide charred wood and burnt foam insulation rather than replace it. This "repair" eventually leaked, and I had to pay Coastal Roofing out-of-pocket to fix Belfor's negligence. Incompetent Management and Subcontracting The project was a management disaster: Lack of Supervision: Supervisors often didn't even have a copy of the estimate. Subcontractor Issues: I was forced to manage their subcontractor, Alex, myself. When Belfor attempted to "restore" our historic front door, they sent it to a basic carpenter rather than a professional restorer. They lost original pieces and tried to use hardware store replacements. Only our direct intervention saved the door. Unsafe HVAC Practices: They sprayed new insulation over contaminated attic foam. When asked if they would guarantee the HVAC system's functionality after re-doing the work, they refused to give a direct answer. Professional Misconduct The behavior of the office staff was appalling. Derrick Snyder was confrontational, indifferent, and at one point, resorted to yelling at my wife and me over the phone when we reported that ductwork hadn't been cleaned. Furthermore, our State Farm adjuster, Lee Ann Daly, pressured us into accepting Belfor's subpar work and told us to "stay on top of them." As a professional, I shouldn't have to do Belfor's job for them. Final Verdict Belfor took advantage of us while I was dealing with serious health issues and the challenges of the pandemic. They prioritized cutting corners over restoring our home. We incurred significant out-of-pocket expenses to correct their "workmanship." Beware of insurance company recommendations. If you value your property and your sanity, do not hire Belfor.
