Our experience with their funeral care for my mom was exceptional and was the complete opposite of the negative experience we had with a funeral home in Savannah that we used for my dad years ago. We felt taken advantage of back then. We learned, too late for our dad, that the funeral industry is rampant with funeral homes that have hidden fees and often push grieving loved ones to choose caskets and services beyond the family's means. Families First is different. They offer clear, upfront pricing with no hidden fees as well as funeral plans that have a wide range of options, including plans that accommodate modest budgets or, like us, families that just prefer a simpler service. FFFC customer service was first rate every step of the way. I was anxious and felt overwhelmed when planning funeral arrangements in the months preceding mom's death. Scott Dixon always put me at ease and gave me great guidance. Over those weeks of planning, I called/emailed him many, many times with numerous questions and special requests. He was endlessly patient, always kind and professional and quick to get back to me if he wasn't available, even when he was on a weekend trip! I remember hearing back from him that weekend and it makes me smile. I remember feeling that he really cared. And we were grateful that he was able to accommodate all of our special requests. Sadly, our mom passed away during the pandemic. Things got complicated. Scott Dixon went above and beyond to make the best of the difficult situation in which we found ourselves. My brother and I (his caretaker) were heartbroken that we couldn't travel to the burial because of his underlying conditions. It touched our hearts that Scott thought to take pictures of mom's tiny safe distance burial service and send them to me. We are so grateful Scott did this - and without us even asking. I have read articles in recent years about problems with the funeral industry taking advantage of families at such a vulnerable time. I also read that there were funeral homes cropping up with more ethical practices, more affordable options, and who refrained from manipulative sales tactics and hidden fees. Families First Funeral Care is one of them. They did a fantastic job for our family. I am so glad we found this wonderful funeral home run by such lovely people.

They told his mother they sent them Friday and would provide a tracking number. They have not. There was a blatant mistake in his death certificate. They were supposed to send us an unofficial corrected death certificate. They haven't. I've left messages for Philip and Dusty all last week and their manager Pam this morning. No one has yet to call me back. They are incompetent and completely unprofessional by not returning one phone call. I would never recommend them to anyone. We still have not received his ashes. They were in constant contact when they wanted payment. However after you pay them they will not give you the common courtesy of returning phone calls. Totally unprofessional. Before they file the certificates they should send people drafts to approve or something. I'm beginning to wonder if they misplaced or lost his ashes. We need the death certificate for a charity event. So no I wouldn't recommend them.

Everything else was unacceptable. First, after the viewing, they rushed us into our cars to go to the graveside service. Only, we didn't immediately leave. We all waited in our cars for about 10 minutes until two men came out and asked "Where are the pallbearers?!" Ummm...you mean my brother and my partner? No one informed us that we were expected to bring our own pallbearers. We assumed that the $11,000 we were charged for the funeral that would include pallbearers. My brother, partner, and two cousins jumped up and volunteered themselves to help move my father's coffin into the hearse. Then the nightmare continues. They instructed us to follow them and then proceeded to lead us to THREE different random cemeteries before finally arriving at the correct cemetery where my father was to be buried. How do you not know which cemetery your client is to be buried at, leading a grieving family on an impromptu (and unwelcome) tour of cemeteries all over Savannah?! We finally arrived at the (correct) cemetery and noticed that my father's to be grave was at least 200 feet from where we had just parked. One of the two employees remarked "Well if I had known it was this far, I would have brought the rolling cart. Oh well." The "pall bearers" (my brother, carrying his own father's coffin, my partner, and my two cousins) struggled to carry the 250 lbs+ coffin to the grave. The service, thankfully, went without any additional problems. But the ordeal continued the next day when we realized that we had never received our father's death certificate. We called the nursing home that he passed away at and they stated that Adam's Funeral never sent them the certificate to be signed by their physician. We then had our legal representative call Adam's, and they curtly said that they would only speak to the person who paid for the funeral. So my brother and I went to the funeral home ourselves (along with our legal representative). They immediately claimed that they had just faxed the death certificate to the nursing home (of course). I wouldn't recommend anyone trust this funeral in handing one of the most stressful and traumatic experiences of their lives. Stay away.

The staff were top notch and very considerate. They require masks to enter and I didn't have one and they gentle asked me I had one and when I said that I didn't they politely offered me one. The viewing room had ample seating and could be expanded. There was a tv screen easily viewed from the seating that had a video on loop of the deceased life.

I didn't spot any parking right away so I decided to drive through, which turned out to be a great way to see more in a short amount of time. I still got out of my car to walk around a bit when I wanted to see something up close. The area is gorgeous, plenty of shade from the beautiful trees. I only stayed for 20 minutes but it was a perfect and quick way to explore the cemetery. It's also free, so nothing better than that!

To Whom It May Concern,…read more It is our hope that sharing our experiences with Magnolia Memorial Garden will prevent some other family from going through the disappointment and heartbreak we had with dealing this cemetery in burying our beloved family member. One of the last wishes of our loved one was to be buried among her parents and many other family members interred at Magnolia. The funeral was scheduled for Tuesday, August 20 and we began making arrangements for burial with Magnolia a week prior to burial. The entire week was spent trying to locate a burial property that we purchased in the early 80s. Magnolia's paperwork was inconsistent and contradictory and they did not demonstrate any sort of concern about putting our loved one to rest. You should not leave a cemetery angry and hurt as we did after dealing with the staff at Magnolia Memorial Garden. At the very last minute on Monday, August 19, we made the difficult decision to make burial arrangements with Bonaventure cemetery where we received immediate and excellent service for burial the next day. The purpose of this letter is to implore those who have property at Magnolia to please check on it prior to need. Otherwise, you may find yourself in the same situation that we were in. At the funeral today, in discussing this issue with those at the repast, we discovered there was at least one guest who had deeds for property that she never requested and never paid for. If you are considering buying property at Magnolia Cemetery, remember 'caveat emptor', let the buyer beware. If this letter saves one family from our recent experiences, then it is worth our effort. Per my friends runners, bikers and dog owners tend to go here. My friends were completely correct about sunny and less touristy, but we didn't see any athletes there. Even with an active funeral service, the cemetery was quiet and had a lot of interesting history and beauty. I think we thought it very interesting that there were a lot of Greeks, Jews and Asians buried here... surprising and very interesting. And there were at least two columbariums (sp?) right close to the water. This cemetery is definitely a great place to enjoy God's beauty while enjoying lots of history. Oddly, I happened upon three burial markers of friends relatives. Truly beautiful here and I hope to be back soon.
