It is very…read moreimportant to understand it is essentially a working hospital, and you are visiting to learn about and support its critical conservation work, not to view cute lil' critters. Of course you might get to see some in their tank enclosures! But, you might not. (So maybe not a good trip with little kids who would really be disappointed.) We learned all about the pup season, how to respond as laypeople if we see a potentially injured marine mammal on shore, how to make a fish smoothie (didn't necessarily need that image but the animals do!), and did in fact get to see and hear some teenage elephant seals flopping around and vocalizing. Nice little gift shop too. We took the guided tour with a docent but saw plenty of people doing the self-guided tour (which is much cheaper or maybe even free?). It was quiet on the weekend but I bet much busier in the labs during the open weekdays. I was so happy we visited and you should too!

They came in and volunteered their time to assist the professionals that manage the Marine Mammal Center. What a joy and a pleasure it is to see a collection of fine young kids growing up and embracing something so amazing. The cruise, the teams of management, the love and compassion by all the people that are employed their is capable. It's easy to see that there's a connection that's very personal between everyone that comes there to learn and everyone that's there that teaches. Truly, a shining star of an organization.

They are known for their fresh sustainable seafood and beautiful views of the San Francisco Bay. I had made reservations a week before our trip, for our Anniversary, to guarantee a nice table with the best views, and that's exactly what we got. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and taken to our reserved table. I think they gave us the best table they had. We could see the city of San Francisco and lots of pelicans. Their menu isn't as big as their San Francisco location, but it offers the most popular items like their famous ciopppino and many other dishes. We were brought ice waters and sourdough bread and butter. The bread was so warm and fresh. Very comforting. My husband ordered their special of the day, which was the grilled wild California king salmon. And I ordered the linguine con vongole, which is linguine with clams. Our food came out fresh and hot. My husband loved his salmon. My linguine and clams were good but overly salty. Our waiter noticed I wasn't eating my dish and asked if everything was okay. I let him know that it was very salty. Without hesitation, he removed my plate and had the kitchen remake it for me. He was so nice about. My remade dish was brought out to me and it was perfect. There were a hefty portion of the clams and the linguine was cooked at a perfect al dente. The manager came out to apologized for my first dish being overly salty and wanted to be sure the remade dish was just right. I really appreciated their kindness and making sure our evening was perfect. You can tell that they really care about their customers. At the end of our meal, they surprised us with a delicious piece of tiramisu for our anniversary. The plate was decorated like a piece of art with chocolate. The tiramisu was delicious and the perfect ending to our delicious meal.

I was so charmed by 415 Bridgeway Pay Phone Project, I did some research. According to Larry Clinton, Sausalito Historical Society (Thank you Larry!), "When Alfredo and Tera Ancona opened their second Sausalito restaurant, Cibo, at 1201 Bridgeway, they noticed a decommissioned phone booth out front by the sidewalk. Tera decided to repurpose the old payphone to "present our great community in a unique way."  Her dream was to offer a quarterly audio magazine with short talks by or about Sausalito locals, which people could hear over the phone. For help, she turned to friends Philip and Tonya Wood at San Francisco-based Sound Made Public, a creative agency focusing on audio experiences, large and small, that change the way we hear the world.  They arranged to have a receiver installed in the old phone, so it could play back recorded messages. Today, passersby can step up to the booth, check out a menu of current messages, and select one or more using the touchtone keypad. Carie Meier and Kourosh Ghadishah of the Caledonia St. firm LondonMeier created the visuals behind the payphone. The selection of recordings is eclectic, ranging from an old timer recalling Sausalito during the Summer of Love to a poem by Naiomi Shihab Nye performed by voice over professional Joe Paulino.  A fellow named Jeremey describes living aboard a 26-foot sailboat for 18 years.  A segment called "Salty & Sound" presents a one-minute immersive audio postcard of Sausalito sounds. There's a 4-minute biography of Sally Stanford, the ex-Madam who became mayor of Sausalito. The group El Cajon performs the song "Captain" from their album "Meteor."  Various locals share what they like most about Sausalito.  And there's a search and find game with various riddles which must be solved to uncover a surprise. Tera even gets into the act herself, offering her recipe for the perfect pie shell. The plan is to change the menu quarterly, so repeat visits are recommended.  And the best part? There's never a busy signal."
