I contacted Bill from a recommendation from my daughter who went to school with Bill. I have no problem with Bill as a person nor his helper. Both worked well and were very pleasant to deal with. As the job progressed, I didn't particularly like the way it was going but I had a furnace being replaced at the same time and didn't keep check on the way the cabinet was progressing until it was done. When I saw the results, I was appalled at the workmanship. It was far from what I was expecting. There was laminate to be replace being the cabinets were professionally laminated. The results were ragged and chipped edges on the laminate and uneven stiles on the vertical and horizontal, The replacement horizontal stiles were not level with the cabinet but rather left a gap where the laminate should go on but couldn't adhere because of a space. Door openings that were never trimmed properly leaving about 1/4" laminate proud above the wooden stiles. The laminate had been installed very poorly and was loose after the contact cement had dried for a few days. There was blue masking tape on the corners and edges and I was assured by Bill that it was to "hold the laminate while drying and that all the tape was to just hold the laminate and not to hide anything". My jaw dropped when I removed the tape and saw the ragged mess that was underneath. Bill told me when I had contacted him about this mess that he hadn't done laminating in a long time. (Still not a reasonable excuse) He should have told me that before wasting the laminate I had left when the kitchen was done. At this point I don't know if there is enough to re-laminate the job that was done. Now I have to find someone professional to re-do the laminate being it looks like something that would be in an abandoned house and pay them again to correct what should not need correcting. Sorry Bill but the job was terrible and definitely not what I had expected and I think you are aware of it too. When I see the results, there is no doubt that I could have done a somewhat better job myself. EDIT TO REPLY: Bill you charged considerably more than "around $200", in case you forgot it was $360 you charged me my friend. Yes you told my wife and also me when I came up to pay you about the chip. The damage was NOT "a chip " as you said earlier, but a rather long ragged edge and the front face laminate was cut about 1/16" short of the bottom exposing the wood of the cabinet as well as the contact cement too. I did not even mentioning the piece you cut to cover where the cabinet was shortened that didn't even fit and was crooked. You told me "Don't worry the fridge covers it". Truly I wish you had told me you weren't proficient with laminate, it would have saved me a lot of grief and also additional expense to correct this mess. You also never told me that you didn't know anyone that could fix this but instead you had a death in the family and never did get back to me again. As far as your last comment below about giving you a "chance to make good that you're a man of your word". I really don't wish to make it any worse than it is now. I'm a pretty good judge of workmanship. Let's just stick with facts here instead of excuses OK? If you prefer, pictures tell the story much better than any words can. EDITED AGAIN AFTER YOU CHANGED YOUR REPLY OF 4/14/2020 "...Cant understand how you want to try to bad mouth me and my company after I help you out. " It's called shoddy work Bill ,Quite honestly I wish you had never done this job so I wouldn't have to do it over again at additional cost. "...Don't know if you see what's going on but we currently have an epidemic, I'm not working. " There was plenty of time after you did this job to return to make it right before this epidemic hit and it wasn't an "emergency " either being we have a full freezer and another fridge downstairs and that's besides the one that was in the kitchen which was a working fridge that we were using downstairs temporarily before giving it to my daughter, certainly no emergency here my friend. You certainly have a way with words and sarcasm! I'm only sorry that I had you do this work and then say "I told you I would be back" when you said nothing of the sort, I wouldn't have paid you if you said that and the damage wasn't obvious until the tape was removed 2 days later that covered all the problem areas. Had you applied the contact cement and let it air dry properly before assembly, the tape wouldn't have been necessary and the damage would have been obvious. A true professional puts his best job forward on the first try and not have to come back to correct the mess he made. After seeing your work, the last thing I would want is to have you come back Bill. Sorry if that offends you but it's the truth. read more

He does not take shortcuts, as I have seen other contractors take to reduce cost and maximize their profit margins. He is trustworthy and will advise you on a job that is best for your situation, which sometimes means not to do work. I'm hesitant to write this. You'll all read it and then Bill will be too busy for me! We have spent far too much money on work that was so poorly done. You know how some people seem to "have a guy?" We didn't have a guy and so went with any halfhearted recommendation in the hopes that this would finally be "the guy" and we could trust that the work we had done would be right and that we wouldn't get charged multiple arms and legs. And we were disappointed over and over. Then we found Bill! Who knew he was right in our backyard?? (Literally - we're neighbors.) Bill has great vision, which is nice in a contractor. He doesn't use knee-jerk solutions but really considers what the best way is to solve the problem. He charges a fair price for the job. His handiwork is great - my newly renovated laundry room with custom-built shelving is now my favorite room in the house. I dare say I even like doing laundry now! We are so glad we found Bill! He and his team have been fantastic! We bought an old house that needed quite a bit of work, and Bill got everything done at a reasonable price and ON TIME for us to move in! Bill's skills, knowledge, and attention to detail really make him stand out. He takes care of a property as if it was his own, and is always willing and able to advise and help out with anything that comes up. He is very responsive, keeps you informed of progress, and promptly takes care of any issue that may arise. He is responsible, trustworthy, and truly professional, and you can tell he loves what he does and takes pride in his work. On top of this, he is a great guy - warm, friendly, and always calm. Bill Saunders is a great contractor. He renovated our kitchen and a bathroom. Our house is very old and there were many unexpected, hidden 'surprises' once the demo was done. In short the framing and plumbing were a complete disaster. Bill found solutions for all the problems that were uncovered. We also had many problems with permits - we live in a town where the building dept. is notoriously difficult. Bill dealt with it all. He was thorough, knowledgeable and responsive. Further he has great design skills and is an excellent carpenter. All of his sub-contratctors were pleasant to work with as well. Bill is absolutely the best contractor ever. He renovated our kitchen and half bath and turned a 3 season porch into an office. He is thorough and exacting and extremely responsive. I had so many huge headaches getting building permits and Bill never once said too bad - I'm not dealing with this. He stuck it out and worked with me to deal with all the problems. He has great design ideas and comes up with very cost effective solutions to problems as they arise. There were so many nights he worked a full day and then came over at 8pm to go over the plans or the next steps. He treated my house as if it were his own and cleaned up every mess he made. It's really Bill doing the work, not some random guys he finds at Home Depot. And everyone of the guys he works with (electrician, plumber, etc) is also quick, thorough, and communicative. I am writing this review with a smile on my face because of the work of Bill Saunders. I needed a wall removed in my living room and a closet removed and rebuilt in my bedroom. Bill came over to scope out the job and I was thrilled to learn that the wall was a non load barring wall. He gave me an estimate and started the work a week later. All work was explained beforehand and I was pleased with the estimate. Finished the job on time and now I get to enjoy my new open floor plan and new closet!! Called and left a message last weekend asking for someone to come by to look at our bathroom because we were looking to remodel. No one returned our call. I sent him a message on Facebook which he promptly replied to and we agreed on a time and date for him to come by. Never showed or called to say he wasn't going to make it. Responded hours later after I sent him another message saying sorry and something came up. If he treats potential customers this way I can only imagine how he treats clients! read more
