We broke down crossing the country in a winnebago right before the 4th of July weekend. Chris has let his mechanics off to celebrate so he gave us other places to call. None of the shops around were able to help. He then said we could set up behind his and he would pull the wheel assembly apart himself and see what repair parts were needed and get the ball rolling, being that it was a holiday weekend, if there were delays, he offered a loaner car. We walked away to find food and rethink our plans (which had been tight in order to meet a flight departure in Montreal.) When we returned to Chris's shop he had the wheel all apart and the repair parts ordered and told us "you'll be back on the road in a few hours." Wow! Chris had saved our trip. I was stranded, and towed 100 miles into Sauders Automotive, and made arrangements over my mobile phone while I waited for the tow truck, so they were expecting me. My car stopped dead while driving down the highway at 70 mph! They were kind and helpful, and explained about the night key drop. They got onto my car 1st thing the next morning, because they had to order parts out of Scottsbluff, and they used their good relations there to get my parts driven over as a priority. They gave me a loaner car, and I was able to enjoy the interesting and historic town of Sidney while I waited. They gave me a price adjustment for being a AAA member. They sold me only what I needed to get back on the road safely. They were courteous, efficient, and warm-hearted throughout, as well as fair and fast. read more

I was traveling cross country, and needed an auto repait. I walked into the shop, and was greeted by only 1 of the employees, an older man. The other employee was talking with someone and did not acknowledge me in any way. I waited patiently at the counter, literally standing at the counter, for 18 minutes. While I was waiting another client came in. The clerk literally looked around me, though I was 18 inches away, and asked the other person if they needed help. Totally ignored me. My daughter had the misfortune of having a part of an axel go bad on her truck on her way home from Colorado. When I went to pick her up I also had issues with my truck. We spent the night in Sidney and then took both vehicles to Sauder's Automotive because that was the place where all my daughter's nursing friend's said to go. Even though Zack and the crew were short because of people being sick, they did everything in their power to get us back on the road as soon as possible. I was moving across the country when my bearings went out on my trailer. I called around and no one could help me until a week later. Even though they were fully booked for a week themselves, Roger stayed after work to replace the wheel bearings on my trailer so that I could continue my move the next morning and start my new job. Exceptional in every way..... So on my trip from Michigan to Sonoma County California in my Chinook RV I encountered a transmission issue. Something that can scare the pants off a traveler and put a huge damper in a long desired road trip.... Having this issue during covid was especially concerning as repair shops across America are jammed with repairs and parts are very hard to find and get... As I limped slowly across Nebraska I would stop to let me transmission cool and to Google repair facilities in my path. I found a few and stopped to see if they could provide me with a brand new transmission as I knew I wanted to nip this issue in the bud... But O quickly found this was going to be a pretty big challenge. I paid a couple places to check and help but finding anyone with the ability was nearing me to think I may have to live in Nebraska for a while while waiting on repair openings and parts. I Googled and Googled and called and called and felt in a very strange position. As entering the small town of Sidney, Nebraska (near the Colorado border) I happened upon a sharp looking high performance car and truck repair facility called Sauder's Automotive that boldly displayed truck transmission services. So I coasted in to their parking lot. Ironically it was across the street from the Cabela's national headquarters that includes a very sweet RV park. So I thought at least I was at a groovy place to camp for a while and rid my panics. At the counter of the immaculate and vast beautiful shop happened to be Chris Sauder. I suddenly felt some relief as I was talking to an owner. Chris is a young good looking and well presented man with a grace that comforted me as I ask if they could possibly take a look at my dear limping Chinook's transmission that had been spouting fluid from its top fluid vent. my Googeling I already knew the need for a new transmission was in my future. I also knew from my road research that this would be a challenge to get.... So Chris and his team checked to verify and I was dead on. Ironically I felt somewhat safe as there was this RV park within 300 feet of the shop. That was a huge help for my anxiety... Chris and his team confirmed the transmission was toast. They also knew it may be very hard to find a replacement. Sure enough it took several days to locate a new transmission. Then several more days to transport it from Indiana.... So I settled into my spectacular Cabela's RV spot (the only spot in the park with its own front yard surrounded by a sweet fence and beautiful chirping birds. Luckily I had a nice stash of refreshments and a list of small things I had wanted to do to my sweet Chinook. After over a week FedEx Freight delivered a shiny brand new transmission. By then I met most the town, repaired and touched up and newly decorated my Chinook and added some serious Internet connection devices. And caught up on some awesome shopping at Cabela's and the local shops. I met some really awesome folks in town and most of them knew of the epic Sauder's reputation. In about 12 more hours my sweet Chinook with it's shiny new transmission will back on I-80 headed for Los Angeles and then Sebastopol California and then back across the USA to Michigan to shortly return to Sebastopol where our other home is... I will be very happy to leave but somewhat sad to miss Chris, Rodger, James and the rest of this epic group. I do know as I crisscross the USA again in a few weeks that I will be stopping in to say hello. I may even have them pre-order a brand new engine as my Chinook with only 75k miles deserves more care and attention from the Sauder's! I can honestly say that I am very happy my transmission decided to crap out as I had a wonderful, relaxing and very pleasant wait while the Sauder's Automotive team performed my miracle.... I suggest even if you don't have an issue at all with your vehicle that you stop to say hey to these amazing people. They will forever be my dear friends in Sidney, Nebraska!!!! What a great experience I had getting towed to Sauders Auto.My truck broke down at Pilot in Sidney across I-80.I was headed home to Arkansas after a fishing trip to Wyoming in Sept 2020. The security module melted down in the truck. The service,the kindness and concern for my situation helped ease the problem.They loaned me a car for a couple days as we waited on parts through a long weekend. A family owned business that cares for the customer was on display the entire time. The quality of work was wonderful and top notch!! In a situation I found myself in,they treated me like I was a long valued customer who had done business with them for 40 years. I had a complete engine failure , which required a complete new motor replacement ,while traveling Interstate 80 and was towed to Sauders. I am a car guy and know exceptional car mechanics. Sauders fixed everything that needed repair and nothing more. It required a week for the engine to arrive and be installed. I am thankful I had the best , most honest and fair repair ever imagined. We were driving cross country from Utah to Illinois, and lost the oil pan plug. We ended up stranded on the side of the road just outside of Sidney. Luckily Sauders answered the phone after 5 p.m. They recommended a tow truck and were able to get me in first thing the following morning. Their staff was patient and friendly and their building is spacious, modern, and very clean. They were efficient, reasonably priced, and accommodating - considering most places I called were booking appointments anywhere from a week to a month out. While driving cross country my key got stuck in the ignition I couldn't turn the car on or remove the key. It was Saturday and when the shop opened on Monday they could not get the necessary part until Tuesday. I needed to get back on the road right away. Roger, the mechanic, managed to fix it without waiting for the part and get me back on the road quickly. He came and picked me up when my car was ready and then refused to take a tip. Sauder's went out of their way to help an out of town stranger and could not have been more professional. If I lived in Nebraska they would be my full time mechanic. read more

We were headed back to Berkeley, CA on I-80 when all of our Toyota Sienna's trouble lights came on simultaneously just shy of Sidney, NE. When we phoned our Toyota dealer he advised us to stop as soon as possible so we located Sauder's on the Internet, called, and even though they were booked for the day, Lee(?) squeezed us in and did a fabulous job of locating and fixing the problem. All while we and our 14 year-old chocolate lab, Cocoa, sat in air conditioned comfort in the, yes, "fresh, clean lounge!" Same great experience. We were on are way to Indiana leaving from Washington we stayed at a hotel in the area got up the next day went to leave and are battery light came on pulled into Walmart parking lot my husband opened the hood to see what was going on we had no serpentine belt called AAA towing it was by the grace of God the tow truck driver took us here and they were right across the street praise God they got us in right away checked it out and diagnosed the problem Chris Sauder the shop manger and the shop help were amazing not only was are serpentine belt gone are pulleys were off that's what caused are problem Chris was honest professional and knew what to do to get it fixed gave us a price which was very good and fair for what they had to do to fix the problem . Chris went out of his way my husband and I were hungry wanted to get something to eat Chris heard us talking and offered his personal car to us not even knowing us who does that now days .He had to order parts we were there four hrs . We were dry out of the weather and the shop was clean and comfortable and the shop dog was so cute he kept us occupied. I would recommend this shop to any one locally if I lived here this would be the place where I would get my car fixed and if your having car problems in NE take it here before you go any where else. These guys are amazing! I was on a road trip and had car problems so I pulled into this shop and Lee dropped what he was doing and helped me out immediately. He ran diagnostics and found the problem and gave me all the information I needed to give to the dealership when I had time to repair it.
