Satyr Entertainment provided the music for my wedding (ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception), and I can't say enough good things about Andy. He went above and beyond for us, and helped make our wedding perfect! He is responsive to emails, prompt, professional, and incredibly warm and friendly. He worked closely with the wedding coordinator to make sure that they had shared all the pertinent details, had a solid timeline, and generally kept things running smoothly. He even came to our rehearsal to make sure that everything would be correct the next day. For the ceremony, he actually created a song for us when we were having trouble picking recessional music; my husband and I liked the opening flourish of one song, but the main body of a different song, so Andy beautifully blended them so we could have the best of both! It was exactly what we imagined, and he provided it when we didn't even think it was possible. He was great at the reception as well. He kept the music happy and upbeat, focusing mainly on the music that my husband and I told him we liked. He also is great about abiding by the "Do NOT Play" list, if you ask him. The reception was a ton of fun, and Andy did an excellent job of keeping peoples' energy up and making people want to be on the dance floor all night. It was great! Luke Bishop and associates--Scotty, Rham, and Andrew--at Satyr were so helpful and so much fun at our daughter Jillian's wedding in 2011 that the very first thing I thought of when my daughter Anica Rose announced her engagement was, "I have to get Luke!" The date, location, food--none of those things was as important to me as scheduling the event around Satyr's availability. That's how much I love and trust this group. Satyr came through for us in a big way again. Anica's 8/10/13 wedding really put the guys to the test. They provided sound equipment, processional/recessional music, and a cool confetti cannon out under our festive outdoor tent, and when a rare, intense Arizona summer microburst storm blasted the wedding, pounding the party with almost two inches of rain in an hour, which blew through the tent sideways with 50 mph wind gusts, Luke and company got soaked to the bone--and never missed a beat. They supported the wedding group and guests with panache and enthusiasm. Satyr's high spirits in what could have been a disaster helped keep the soggy guests cheerful. Satyr set up and got the reception activities going smoothly, seamlessly, and on time, looking sharp (and dry!), as if the rain storm had never occurred. Satyr not only effortlessly handles a broad range of musical tastes, but they also know how to perk up an audience. At most weddings I've been to, the guests sit listlessly and politely ignore the music. Satyr, on the other hand, gets its audiences up and dancing, and otherwise actively participating in various festivities throughout the night. Luke, Scotty, Rham, and Andrew are performers as much as organizers and emcees, singing and dancing and interacting in warm and funny ways with the guests. Someone in our group requested the music from Grease, for example, and the Satyr guys led guests through a fast, hilarious pantomime of the entire musical. We couldn't have had more fun. I give Satyr my highest recommendation. They are highly professional, knowledgeable, flexible, patient, sensitive, and personable. Andy and his company "Satyr Entertainment" came highly recommended from our photographer, but being wary of the "corny DJ" we had to see for ourselves. We scheduled a meeting with him and our initial impression was extremely favorable. He went above and beyond to understand the feel of our wedding and it was obvious that his inner artist wanted to understand the concept we were trying to achieve. He was anything but corny, and we were instantly assured that he would be a value added necessity for our special day. Once we settled on a venue he made the (long) trip out to scope the scene, and provided his professional recommendations on setup, and even coached us based on his vast experience with what works. As a military couple, when my orders inevitably changed and a deployment forced us to change our wedding date, the team at Satyr were extremely understanding and worked with us as we, (i.e. my now wife), restarted the planning process. Leading up to the wedding, we met again at the venue and made some last minute lighting additions based on Andy's recommendations. The end result was absolutely fantastic. The wedding itself went flawlessly; there was not a single audio/visual snafu, and Satry expertly worked the crowd and the flow. Like a chameleon, Andy blended in perfectly, yet nurtured the atmosphere with just enough "DJ." His transitions were excellent, he followed our timeline to a T, and the dance floor was packed for the entire night. Though the prices were a little on the higher side, which they let you know upfront, I would have paid twice as much after our experience. Wow, I really can't say enough about Andy, Trent, and the rest of the people we worked with at Satyr. They exceeded all expectations, which is a wonderful feeling to have on such an important day. 3 main factors made them excellent to me: 1. They did an fantastic job taking an outline of songs my wife and I like and filled in the details for us. My husband and I had such a great experience with Andy from Satyr Entertainment that we're trying to dream up some other excuse to hire a DJ! It was clear from our first meeting that Andy is not your typical DJ. One of the first things he said was, "I don't do cheesy DJ stuff." SOLD! He is so easy to get along with, relaxed, and truly listens to what you want. He's very knowledgeable on every genre and era of music, and will make great suggestions without forcing anything on you. He also has a great sense of humor, which is always a plus. That whole vibe translated to a wedding reception that felt comfortable, relaxed, and FUN...exactly what my husband and I wanted. We gave Andy a list of must-plays in addition to going over songs that we absolutely did NOT want to hear, and also went through likes and dislikes by decade (40's - Sinatra, big band, 90's - boy band, grunge, etc.). That was a great way to cover all bases, because there were certain songs that I love but had completely forgotten about until we started talking about that specific time period/genre. The day of the wedding, everything went off without a hitch. Andy did it all; ceremony music and microphones, cocktail hour and reception entertainment, and even uplighting (which looked gorgeous). He ran the show flawlessly - not even a missing toss bouquet could fluster him! He even noticed that my husband and I were confused on what to do as we cut the cake, and kindly explained it to us. I felt completely at ease knowing that Andy was in control and making sure the evening went as planned. His expertise didn't go unnoticed...several guests commented on how great Andy was, usually as they were swinging next to me on the dance floor! I told Andy I wanted the reception to be a huge dance party, and that's exactly what it was. Working with him was an absolute dream, and we were sad to say goodbye to him at the end of the night. Andy was our DJ, and he was friendly and communicative during planning as well during the reception itself. Andy had no problem with some of our crazier requests, which included playing Swahili music during the dinner portion of the evening (as well as for some of the dancing) and partaking in pub-style trivia (including a dance-off when two tables tied for first place)! He even went the extra mile to snip the songs to ten-second clips so we could have a music round. Our guests are still raving about the trivia segment as well as our "amazing DJ," and I was even contacted by several of the local guests for Andy's contact information. My wife and I were planning our huge wedding for over 200 people and she was in charge of every single detail...all except one. Picking the DJ was my one and only thing that I had control over. Full disclosure, I am a wedding DJ as my own small business. Not as big as this company, but I have DJ'ed over 100 weddings and when it came to picking a DJ I was so very picky. Who could I trust to do as good as a job as I could? I saw Andy DJ a friends wedding a year earlier and was very impressed. I wasn't the greatest of clients, because I had a very specific idea of what songs to play and when to play them. Most brides picture their perfect day, but I didn't picture most anything except the music. Since I met my wife, every song I heard I thought about putting in our wedding. Andy met with me and took every single request and understood how I wanted it to be done. He kept "our song" a secret from my wife to be so I could make it even more special. I left him with some room to figure out which songs would fill where I didn't and was very impressed. He was even able to get a generator for the outdoor wedding so we wouldn't blow a fuse. I have heard from dozens of people how amazing the music and how it flowed throughout the evening. I feel I have a lot to do with it, but Andy made it professional and brought all the songs together and added where I couldn't. If I can't DJ a wedding, I certainly recommend Andy and Satyr. I just can't say enough about Andy and Satyr Entertainment, but I will try so I can convince as many couples to book him for their wedding! The music Andy played was phenomenal and the playlists were flawless. He listened to all our suggestions, and worked in even the songs we thought wouldn't fit anywhere. He totally ran with the genres we suggested, and really played music that everyone absolutely loved. I would say that BY FAR, the one thing we were complimented on more than any other part of our wedding, was Andy's music selections. We had so many people stay until we closed up at midnight, I was absolutely floored, and so many people danced because the music was amazing! But not only was the dancing music great, the ceremony music flowed nicely, the cocktail hour had some great jams, and dinner had a really nice soundtrack as well. Andy didn't only pick out amazing music for us, he also worked closely with our Day of Coordinator to really keep the night flowing seamlessly. When we sat for dinner, the food was a little late, so Andy let us know that maybe we could do a speech before dinner instead of after, which was perfect. He also made any needed announcements throughout the day and night to help really direct the guests, and also to take the favors, and we didn't end up with any extras, which was a huge bonus for us! I know peoples' worry with a DJ is that they will sound cheesy, talk too much, and play music that just doesn't work, but have no fear with Andy, he is great in every way, and a very nice person in general. I can't recommend Andy enough to all of my friends, because I can't wait to be at another wedding DJ'd by him.
