Located in some of Englands most lovely walking countryside, you will have no problem walking up a thrist and appetite, both of which can be admirably satiated at the Blyth. And, if you want variety, the village of Southwold is well served with bars and restaurants. All in all, a hearty recommendation.

They've won awards for some of their dishes - check out the black pudding and pork sausages, if you dare. It's a really comfortable, spacious interior: lots of warm, rough wood, miles between your tables and others, nice linen napkins.

The staff were very friendly and very attentive. For start we all had the soup which was flavoursome, home made and accompanied by some wonderful salt crusted home made bread. For mains my mother and I had the pork loin which was cooked in a wonderfully fruity sauce and served with a medley of crisp potatoes, vegetables and crackling. My other half and my father enjoyed the beer battered cod and chips which they both managed to polish off with some gusto. My dad and I were too full for dessert but my partner and mother enjoyed the Bread and Butter pudding which was caramelised (ala Creme Brûlée) and served with a vintage marmalade ice cream. This was a lovely meal, great price and everything served was very tasty and served at the right temperature. The staff were very friendly and I will definitely be going back there the next time we visit Southwold.

The menu caught our eye and it didn't hurt that they had a Michelin 2017 rating! We got the following: Pork belly Sous vide squid Catch of the day All of their food was beautifully plated and OMG the seafood was so fresh and cooked so well. I had never had a dish prepared by sous vide method and it blew my mind. It was also a nice bonus that they had WiFi since I could check in and post my photos. I hope to find another place back home (los Angeles, California) that is just as great as The Crown. One day we'll be back!

Add to that the location, the ambience and the general relaxed air and you have yourself a 5 star dining experience. Really rather excellent.
