I've been to a few functions, such as weddings, at the Wherry and felt that they were well catered for: The staff made sure everyone had a good time, and everything ran smoothly, although you didn't notice them really. The main function room has a bar and a stage, so is perfect for bands to play in. The food is very nice, and well presented on well laid out tables, which are large enough for several people to be seated around. The bar to the side of the Wherry is great for a few quite drinks, and has good views, as it overlooks the Broads. There is ample parking all the way around the building. read more

The Wherry from a Sunday Lunch Perspective: Excellent range of choice with the Carvery, good service, nice seating, nice location, good parking. Good well cooked food, vegetables cooked nicely, although personally I prefer the beef with some red in it, but 'well-done' beef is a common appearance at Sunday roasts, it's not bad by any means, but if I go for a roast I'd rather go for the juiciest meats... (Other meats were cooked fine in my opinion...) I once, about 3 years ago had the best button mushroom and white wine stroganoff ever in the Wherry but I'm not sure if it's the same management or catering staff now... But damn it was amazing... All in all a good place to go for a family meal, and with 2 adult roast courses for £11, it's very good value. read more

Why do I struggle to find a good, well serviced restaurant to dine in comfort and be well looked after. The Wherry has been recently refurbished and is part of the Castle Carvery chain, so you would expect a reasonable meal. I had heard bad reviews, but as we were travelling past last night we thouight we would try our own experience. What a mistake! Upon entering staff were huddled together talking with not a care for their potential customers. I asked a member of staff what do we do? do we just sit down and wait? the reply was a grunted yes! After waiting 10 15 minutes with no service we decided to leave. The restaurant was empty, no wonder, if that is the way punters are treated. On the way out I found a manager and asked why I not been attended too, his reply was you buy a ticket at the bar and then help yourself to the carvery, it does tell you that on the menu, well I did not see the instruction. I have visited castle Carvery's many times previous and have always been greeted and welcomed on entry, been taken to a table and explained what to do. Unless there is a change to their current policy, i'll give the place a few months before they relise their big mistake. read more

have been to wherry since it's upgrade & it looks very nice & clean , the staff were all very pleasant, not had the chance to eat there yet, maybe next time we're over there, the wherry hotel sits in it's own grounds overlooking the river, & yacht station with mooring out at the front which is £10.00, & also has it's own parking too, read more
