Ordered Clubhouse between two with cheese no tomatoes. Came out with no cheese so sent it back and by the time it came back out bread was soggy. Server had to be asked twice for water and for silverware was told they don't normally give silverware for sandwiches and fries. I noticed one other table had to ask for silverware also. To top it off they charged 2.99 for splitting the meal or should I say giving us an extra plate which was never mentioned or have been charged in the past. read more

Took my 86 yr old mom, and two cousins for lunch for her bday. Left disappointed, as her hot hamburg wasn't hot, wings were ok but very goopy. None of my guests said much at all, since I paid and seemed disappointed Service sub-par, no coffee or after drinks, until we piped up, as though we were rushed out. Went tonight for dinner. We had a good breakfast there a couple weeks ago and thought we would bring the kids. They had several tables open so we split into 2 tables. She came over fairly quick to take our order and brought appetizers in good time. Then another table of 6 people came in and a table with 2 older people. BOTH tables ordered after us yet both were served before. Our waitress asked us once if we wanted more to drink and then we asked again she said there were only 2 fills so we were charged for two more drinks. Our kids were fed first which was fine but it was about 10 minutes before our orders came. And I ordered the "special". Wasnt impressed with what looked to be frozen veggies. Everything else tasted ok. She walked by us about 4 times and we asked for a refill. She apologized when she brought our meal saying well we are busy. We ate and didnt say anything. My husband paid and she said well we fired a waitress last week due to being slow and now its busy. I think they fired the wrong waitress because she was lousy. Couldve checked in with us saying your foods on the way or let me check on it not akwardly glancing and then looking through us. Even getting the bill we waited while she took another order, poured a pop, spoke to someone at the bar and then she sauntered over. We have no problem over $120 for dinner IF service is good. I despise Hawaiian pizza, but it would be uncanadian of me not to see the place it was invented at! Upon first entering the Satellite you sense a warm aura, a classic diner with historic Chatham photos and maps on the wall. Ask for the lake view for a treat! I was pleasantly surprised at the variety on the menu since they are advertised as just a diner. Skipping the pineapple, I opted for the panzerotti, holy smokes, its larger than my hands!! The dough was unlike i've seen before, it was soft and thick, very familiar to a donut. They were generous with the cheese and I could barely finish half. Apparently the meat sauce that comes with it, is homemade. I loved that I could taste the large chunks of meat and it paired perfectly with the panzerotti. On our way to Toronto from Detroit on a road trip, and minutes into the USA vs Slovenia world cup match, we drove deep into Chatham desperately trying to find a place to grab breakfast and watch the game. A courteous Chathamian who we spoke to told us our best shot would be to try Satellites. At around 10am in the morning, in the middle the week, this place is nearly completely empty. That changed when us 7 guys walked in. The staff understood our situation and gracefully and empathetically, opened up the bar area and let us take over the place and even managed to get their big screen TV on. I had the egg/pancake combo with coffee filled w/o asking. The server was even nice enough to give each us separate checks. These accommodating Canucks did their best to make us crazy Americans feel right at home. Thanks a million Satellites! read more

I haven't been here in almost 20 years...and nothing's changed. Popped in here with my parents on a recent visit for omelettes and while my veggie one didn't have as much flavor as I expected and the omelette itself was a little overcooked, it was still good and came out FAST. That is thankfully another thing that's not changed about the Satellite! Our server was great...fast and friendly and we were in and out in no time, good as we had a busy afternoon on deck! I was bummed the river view has degraded so much over the years...decades really but that's got nothing to do with the restaurant just me remembering the days when we'd walk the docks after lunch and see all the boats. We were treated to a couple kayakers and some smaller fishing boats. Next time I will skip on breakfast and go straight for the clubhouse as I am sure it's still on the menu....anytime I've had a clubhouse they don't compare to the Satellite's true clubhouse (vs putting turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato on a bun and trying to pass it off as a club!). Yes, this is the place where pineapple on pizza was invented, but I'll forgive them for that. I have been coming here on and off for over 40 years and it has been consistently good. They have dressed the place up a bit but it still has great service and good comfort food. I highly recommend the hot turkey sandwich which is piled high with roasted turkey and smothered in real turkey gravy. Served with vegetables and mashed potatoes this makes a wonderful lunch. Unfortunately after this restaurant was recommended to us while visiting Chatham, we didn't have a very good dining experience. The first issue is that it smelt like an Indian restaurant. The salad bar was fresh, a little short on choice but ok. The food was substandard for the most part. Started with a poutine; the fries were nicely done covered in dark gravy and grated cheese. It was passable as a starter but the gravy left some question in quality. The main courses consisted of dry chicken dishes and flavorless, boring vegetables. The potatoes and gravy sides were not appetizing. The ocean perch was passable, a little over done but the best meal of the four. I could make a much better meal at home and not have to pay $75. Our go to restaurant when we all want something different. This restaurant has been open for years! There are some great items on the menu and of course done not so good. This we were not informed of til we got the bill. Our waitress just said " you can go up for your salad bar any time you want ". We came in for a late lunch and the restaurant was empty. Red flag #1. We wanted a view of the Thames, so we walked through the entire restaurant which reeked of BO. Red flag #2. We were handed greasy, slimy menus. Red flag #3. In hindsight, we should have ran, however, we thought since we had this recommendation, the food must be fab. Not! The POUTINE was covered in store bought shredded cheese with canned beef gravy. The fries were crispy and hot. The garlic lemon chicken breast was so overcooked that the meat had turned a crispy brown-(it was skinless). My sister's grilled chicken wrap had the same quality of chicken. Inedible. We told the waitress who did offer to replace the chicken breast but was not apologetic. On a good note the lettuce in salad bar was fresh. The croutons were cold and soggy. My brother had perch and it was good with a nice helping so we shared his plate. Unfortunately it was breaded and deep fried which is what we tried to avoid by ordering the chicken. My diet coke was served in a small juice glass packed with ice for $2.75. My brother ordered Rickard's draft and was charged over $5 for an import.
