Love it here! I come here approx every two weeks. My hair cuts are $15, and I always just leave the $20 or $25. The people hair are insane! Magicians! Ben usually cuts my hair, and he does a great job. My boyfriend also gets his hair cut by Ben and he LOVES IT! However, today Leo cut my hair. Leo did an amazing job! Leo took his time doing my hair and every single strand was perfectly cut and he totally understood my vision. I've gotten my hair cut around the block and they ruined it. Sassoon always does an amazing job! We decided to go short today, and he also lightened it up because I have a lot of hair! I might get my hair bleached here next week! read more

This is my go to salon and I'm picky when it comes to my haircut. Kevin is my stylist and he always does a spectacular job. He's very detail oriented and thorough. The salon itself is no frills and the staff speaks primarily Chinese. The stylists will speak some English but be prepared to bring a pic of the cut you want if you want something specific. I'm usually the translator for my non-Chinese speaking friends and am always tempted to show a pic of mullets to their stylist. I'm a good friend so I don't. Overall, I give this salon 5 stars for the quality of the haircuts, the service and the prices. You will not find a better price around! If I could give zero stars I would. I wish I had noticed the name of the hairstylist who worked on me so I could specifically mention him, but he's tall with blonde hair. I went in for a 3 inch trim, straight across, nothing fancy. I said "I just want the dead ends off, about 3-4 inches, straight across, no layers." I left with about 7 inches off and layers. The first few snips seemed fine, then the hairstylist picked up a large chunk of my top layer of hair and cut off about 4 more inches. I said "you're not doing layers are you?" To which he LAUGHED and replied "only a little," as if doing exactly what I asked NOT to do was a cute little joke. He laughed again as he continued cutting and I told him he was cutting off way too much. Not sure what was funny about completely botching a service I was paying for. On top of that, the washer rushed through my wash. And not a single employee apologized for their stylist's horrible service. I've never been so dissatisfied with service that I felt the need to publicly comment on a job horribly done, but today I did. An absolute JOKE of a salon and experience. This is one of those places where you have to forgive their appearance. They're not a fancy high end salon (and you shouldn't be expecting one in Flushing, NY anyway). They are all Chinese speaking and the 1-2 people who know the most English there really know just enough to get by with a conversation about hair. They don't come off as being particularly friendly but that is a combination of the language barrier and the Chinese culture. All the stylists here are great and their prices are unbeatable for the services they offer. You will pay 3-4 times more going to a salon in Manhattan for the same service just to sit in a fancier looking salon. You can also go here for wash + massage for some ridiculously cheap price (I think maybe $15 or so for girls, and $10 for men), where they will massage you in your chair for a good 30 minutes. So obviously tip them well if you're gonna get this. And guys - they will be lifting up the back of your shirt for this, FYI. That's normal. I highly recommend this place. read more

Come here if you're looking for a cheap, no-frills hair salon! A friend of mine has been coming here for years and she recommended me this place. In desperate need of a haircut, I came here on a Sunday morning without an appointment but was served right away. I got a wash and cut. The lady who washed my hair was very thorough and the head massage felt great. My hairstylist seemed pretty experienced. He was fast and took directions well. The best thing is it only costed $18 before tip! Overall, I was happy with the results so I'm definitely coming back. P.S. I was even able to get a dim sum date out of this trip at a nearby restaurant. read more

Totally adequate salon for a men's haircut - $8 before tip, with no wash or massage, no appointment. Sometimes you just gotta get it done. English skills were fine and the barbers do a serviceable, precise job with only the vaguest of descriptions and no example photo. On a Sunday afternoon, they were neither inconveniently busy nor alarmingly empty. The location is fantastic (corner of Main St / Roosevelt). Never coming back. I asked for a root touch up on my highlights expecting it to be okay for the price I was paying ($80). I came out of there with half my head orange. The bottom half is fine because it was my old highlights but half of my head is now orange. Every time I look at myself in the mirror I just want to cry. Now I have to pay extra to find a salon to tone my hair. I specifically asked her during the hair dying process "this won't be orange right?" and she reassured me and said "no you said blonde." Little did I know I would come out looking like a LEPRECHAUN. And I've tried toning my hair as well. The bottom portion of my hair (done by another salon) has toned out well, however, THE PART DONE BY THIS SALON IS STILL ORANGE I CANNOT GET RID OF IT (see pictures). Sassoon is a gem!! I went for a keratin treatment and it was on promotion for $100 -- unbeatable! And fast bc 2 people worked on my hair the whole time. On top of that, a 15m chair massage is included. I've never had to wait or need an appt. I usually don't write reviews but this time I decided to write one. So to start off, I came here to color and cut my hair to mid-chest. I've gone to this place since high school and haven't been back for about 3 years and since I was just going to color my hair one color, I decided why not come here. I came in with hair past my waist and my ends completely damaged from my previously dyed hair. My hair is also pretty thick. My mom told me to find the owner since she always had him do her hair and he's done mine when I was in high school. Before coloring my hair, he cut off my ends to about the bottom of my chest. The color came out fine. I love the color; it's also the reason why this review has 2 stars instead of 1. After the coloring, he proceeded with cutting and thinning out my hair but he didn't ask for my desired hair length and when he did the first cut, I immediately told him that I did not want my hair short. Since it was already at the length I wanted, I just wanted a trim, layers, and to thin out my hair. He replied okay but continued to cut more. I then repeated that I did not want my hair short, he said okay again and said that he was going to thin out my hair now. But he kept cutting anyways. So the end result is, I now have hair to my shoulders and mind you, I have pretty thick hair as I said before. So with my hair at my shoulders, it makes it look like my hair is a big poof of hay and that I'm wearing a wig. Not to mention, he also cut one side of my hair unevenly compared to the other side which I didn't realize till I got home. Before I left the salon, I did notice that my hair looked a bit funny but I couldn't pinpoint the issue until I got home, which was the unevenness. After he cut my hair, he told me my hair was still pretty long. In response, I said that I wanted my hair to be mid-chest and he had the audacity to tell me that my hair wasn't that long to begin with. As I mentioned earlier in my review, I came in with hair PAST my waist. So with that said, I'm never coming back here. read more

My mom dragged me here to get a haircut for Chinese New Year. I'm glad she did. My hair was getting a bit too long, tangly, and just difficult to manage. I hadn't been to a salon in years because they never seemed to get my hair right (my hair always comes out too short...Too thinned out, etc). This place got it just right! After arriving they suggested I washed my hair to make the cutting easier. I agreed. The washing was nice and not too rough like other Asian places. After that they dried my hair while I waited for "Ah Zhong" the hairstylist to finish up my mom's hair. When he was done with her, he began on my hair. He asked what kind of look I was going for and if I had pictures. I showed him one and he customized it to fit my face shape and hair texture better. The haircut took perhaps 15-20 minutes, and the entire time he was very careful when he came across knotted ends etc. Altogether I paid about $18 dollars for the cut and wash. Then I paid $8 in tips. Honestly one of the cheapest and prettiest haircuts I've ever gotten. I didn't leave the salon in tears this time, thank you Sassoon! read more

This place is cheap, but not too bad. If you need a basic cut, they will do it for you, and they will do a good enough job. I got a basic cut, that was done by someone with some marginal skills. She used a razor to cut my layers in the front, which I consider a lazy job, but it looked OK. Also she left some parts of my bangs a little long, which I also consider her lazy. However, at this price, for something basic, I'm pretty happy. I would come again, but only because I'm cheap -- I would not come right before something important. read more

I went in with my hair already washed, I have pretty curly hair and WOW not are they only CHEAP (paid $15 for a blow out and iron) they are fast as lightning, only took about 15-20 minutes for the amount of hair I have. If you want a cheap haircut, this is great. I paid $15 for a shampoo, cut and blow-dry. But I'm super cheap, so cheap I've considered DIYing haircuts instead. I have white-girl hair (fine, wavy, lots of it), which isn't the norm in Flushing, so maybe that's why, but the haircuts aren't particularly stellar here. It's serviceable, but it always makes me head look a little like a yield sign for the first couple weeks. I come for trims every 6-12 months, and I always walk in and they'll take me. It does the job and removes the split ends, but once I talk myself into a $60 haircut, I don't think I'll be back here. read more

I get a wash, cut, and blow dry for only $18 (pre-tip) and I always leave happy. You can pay extra for them to curl your hair. Very poor experience. I've been here many times and never have I ever left annoyed and angry until today. I came in and it was kind of busy so I ignored the fact that the hair washer rushed through the wash. I was seated shortly after and a guy who was working on someone else came to my chair and asked what I wanted. I told him what I wanted and he became very frustrated with my hair and started tugging on my hair with the brush. I know my hair is hard to brush because it is very damaged but pulling and tugging through the knots doesn't help - it only pulls out a lot of unnecessary extra hair and probably damages it even more. He then proceeded to dry my hair and he hit my head with the hair dryer about 4 times. I looked very agitated and he kept asking what was wrong and I told him that he seemed like he was in a rush and that I could just wait for someone else who was going to actually take their time with my hair. He ignored me and just continued to dry my hair. He started to cut my hair and first of all, he cut my bangs unevenly and too short. There was nothing I could do at that point because he couldn't undo anything so he kept cutting the rest of my hair. In the end, my hair was unevenly layered and my bangs were poorly cut. Couldn't tell if he was new but he seemed nervous and stressed out... But that doesn't give him the excuse to give me the worst hair cut experience I've ever gotten. I could have complained to the manager but their English was pretty poor and me complaining wouldn't give me back the hair I had before I came in to this god awful salon. I don't normally review things, but my experience here today was horrific. I've been coming here on and off for the last 5 years (in fact my whole family comes here since it's so inexpensive and convenient). I've never been so disrespected and humiliated before. I know this is a no frills place, so I don't expect much, just a wash and cut. Came in today for a wash and cut, and it started off fine, in fact everything was fine until the "stylist" started drying my hair. He asked me if my hair was oily (in English) I told him no, it's really dry. He then calls the girl who washed my hair over and asked her how much conditioner she used (in Mandarin). She respond that she didn't use much, and that she had a really hard time washing my hair so just gave up. He then comments that it's (my hair) is disgusting. This whole conversation was in Mandarin. I was in too much shock to say anything. I assume they didn't realize that I'm Chinese and understand Mandarin (I don't speak it very well). However, as a business you should not bad mouth your customers in their presence, at least wait until they leave. On top of that, the hair cut was terrible, it's looks really choppy and jagged, not what I asked for at all. By this point all I wanted to do was leave. TLDR: only come here if you want to be bad mouth by the staff. My family and I will be taking our business else where. read more
