These guys are scammers. They had us buy membership cards and lied to us about a ton of non-existent charges. When we told them to show us the backlog - they pulled some random excel showing I came for a haircut every month, which is 100% illogical - when I was traveling outside the country during those periods. Do not trust these guys! If you do go, make sure you keep every receipt or track every payment, because these guys will pull shady moves on you. read more

I've gotten two hair cuts with Ricky. He did a great job with the cuts and always followed through with my requests. I've told him that I wanted to keep my side bangs, thin my hair (since it grows out really thick) and have a length and style that would work well with curled hair. He's always delivered on my requests and he's also made sure I knew how it'd turn out before he worked on my hair, in case it might turn out a bit different from what I expected. He's really easy to talk to and a great communicator! I've gone to many hair stylists over the few years, many of them were over priced (especially in New York City), and to be honest, I've never really liked my hair cuts until I went to Ricky. Most of the time I've been okay with my new cuts, but with him, I've been really happy with how the fresh cuts looks! I can also speak for my sister who has also gotten a haircut from him. She and I both have agreed to continue going to him instead of our NYC hair stylists in the future. There was an incident where the person at the cashier accidentally overcharged us and we asked Ricky about the cost. He was extremely courteous and immediately helped us fix the situation. Would definitely recommend him to more people! --------- The salon is very clean, sleek and modern. I love the unrushed head massages as well. This place is amazing, clean and beautiful! I think it's also new but I'm not sure, I guess I was mesmerized by the appearance of the place which makes sense being that its in great neck. Henry my hair stylist was very thorough and really cared about my hair. Due to the bleaching, color and the whole works I've damaged my hair completely and wanted to do a keratin treatment and thats what they did for me here. He made sure to let me know that due to the damage they wanted to make sure they weren't going to make it worse. It was reassuring. Let me add the fact that when you get a wash omg... unlike any other. I really didnt want to write a review because I wanted this to be my secret place but they truly deserve the recognition. And girl... they got lockers for your purses too. I love this place so muchhhhh top notch service! Kind of feels like when you walk into a chanel or louis store and theyre offering you all kinds of beverages. Hopefully this place never changes, I went to another salon in bayside bell blvd and after they got popular they lost their magical touch. I went in to get the Groupon keratin treatment but then decided against it because last time I got a keystone treatment (from the flushing location) it took 5 hours and this mama's got stuff to do! So I switched to a root touch up and a haircut. My root touch up was $90 and my wash, cut, and dry was $60. I got there at 10:30am and didn't leave until about 1:30pm. Cindy washed and colored my hair for the most part and Sherman did the corrections and cut and dry. There's a tax charge if you use credit card. I knew Cindy from the flushing location. She did my keratin years ago and did a great job. Sherman explained to me the Groupon Keratin treatment mostly softens the hair and doesn't make it pin straight. If I want something like I had at the Flushing location, it would be $300, like how much I paid last time. He said I can get it anyway or pay the difference for the better quality keratin. I decided to not use it yet because I'm hoping the shorter cut will cut out the frizzy dry hair. I asked for the same haircut last time in Flushing, and I got a really good cut from a female stylist in Flushing. This time the haircut didn't really match the pic. Maybe it would have looked different if Sherman curled my hair, but I honestly didn't see any curling irons laying around. They also seemed short-staffed and a bit stressed because of it. There's some upselling in there too as well which is a bit typical of Asian salons, but then again I've only been to Asian salons for the most part. I'll be back for the root touch up and maybe an upgrade on the keratin treatment, but I think I'll go back to the Flushing location for the haircut. read more

Hairmode is a beautiful salon with such professional and attentive staff! I came in for a wash and trim and was immediately greeted by a friendly front desk lady. Then escorted to the hair washing station. The woman who washed my hair (had short black hair, tied half up) was so sweet and gives the most amazing scalp massage. My hair stylist was Phillip and he was friendly and knowledgeable. I appreciated how honest he was with my hair condition and what we could do with it in the future. Highly recommend Phillip. I happened to be in the neighborhood and needed a last minute blow dry. Hair Mode was super accommodating and let me come in immediately. The lady who washed my hair gave me the best shampoo I've ever had in my life (which is saying something considering I've been getting blowouts once a week for the last ten years) and the guy who did my hair took his time to make sure my hair came out perfect and that I was happy. If I could give this business zero stars, I would. I had the most horrifying experience here. Dropped off my 16-year-old daughter for a blowout, after I picked her up, she was almost crying ! when I asked her why she said she got very bad vibes here and in the middle of blow drying her hair Dexter Went ahead and thinned her hair from the middle of her head. He literally just cut hair on top close to the scalp to thin out her hair because he said she had "too much hair" to blow dry!!! This is unbelievably unacceptable. He did not ask permission, and when I went inside the salon to confront him, he was arrogant and defiant and he said, so what do you wanna do about it? I can't believe the nerve of this man... I demanded my money back and he became abusive and yelled at me to get out of his salon because there are cameras there. I don't understand this kind of mentality let alone no service whatsoever. This is the United States of America, you cannot Force your methods onto other people without permission and then treat them like how dare you question my work!!!! Her hair is so thin and out now that I have to wait years for it to go back to original. Ridiculously absurd. I will also mention that my daughter said she was creeped out by him who was asking her how old she was, and if she had a boyfriend!!!! And gave a creepy facial reaction when she said she didn't have one. This place is also overpriced, which I did not mind if I had gotten good service. I have long thick hair and am usually sitting in the chair for 4+ hours and have been getting keratin treatments for 10+ years now. My experience at hairmode was amazing! My hairdresser Joe did a good job with my hair. He was friendly and patient throughout the process and provided details about how I can take care of my hair after the Keratin treatment. However, the other male staff with yellow bleached hair was rude, loud, and disrespectful yet he wasn't even my hairdresser. He disagreed with my decision which is understandable since my hair wasn't in the best condition but he SHOULD NOT be shaking his head multiple times and making side comments about my hair condition in Chinese especially in front of a client. I was able to understand everything he said in Chinese and I felt uncomfortable the whole time because he was doubting the process from the very beginning. I also came inside the salon with him being on his phone which looked like he was playing a game while consulting about my hair. He also had a very loud conversation with another staff which I find very unprofessional and disturbing to the clients in the salon. Other than that, all the other staff workers are friendly and the place is clean. Side note- they also charge you an additional $20 for your hair length but they will let you know beforehand. read more
