I did not make an appointment and I would suggest that you do. You have to give them your life story, blood type, and next of kin to make an appointment which is a bummer (exaggeration but they ask for a lot of info), but at least they don't require a credit card number like another local prom shop. First visit (without appointment), we were grumped at by the checkin staff, then assigned to a very grumpy, irritated, overworked sales person who did NOT want to help us. She was very unpleasant, and unfortunately they are required to stay by your side for the entirety of the appointment. She offered no assistance and just stood next to us glowering and chatting with other sales people about not wanting to be there. I am not naming names because everyone has a bad day, but we didn't enjoy the experience at all mostly due to working with her. The store has a pretty decent selection, but we went in March for a May event and they were already lowish on inventory. I was told that they don't have "stock" and what's on the floor is what they have, so I highly recommend finding out when they place orders and going in that month. Pressure to "buy today" is high but understandable given that the item you like really might be gone when you go back next. Prices were on the mid to high range. The cheapest dress I saw was $250 and I saw prices going into the 700/800/900 range. Definitely higher than departments stores, but better selection, fit, & quality. We didn't buy a dress on our first visit, partly because of the unpleasant sales lady. We went back after shopping several other places and did ultimately buy a dress here. I was disappointed that the commission for our purchase went to the person who helped us the first time because our second visit (with appointment) was much more pleasant, although since we were there specifically to buy, we didn't really get a sales person assigned on the second visit. The manager that helped us was lovely and the sales desk people were nice. I don't know if there are more inexpensive options earlier in the "season" so part of my reason for 3 stars is price and part of the reason is from that very unpleasant sales experience. For quality of dresses, I would put them at a 4.5 stars.

Peggy at Custom Alterations is a true talent! She and Courtney can make your wedding dress dreams…read morecome to life! I came to her with a dress that I purchased very impulsively. My dream dress was long sleeve lace, yet I purchased a strapless plunging neckline dress with floral appliqué. I tried it on every day for a week hating the dress more with each try on...then I called Custom Alterations for a hem and take in, she answered and swiftly got me on the schedule. When I arrived at my appt I basically let her know I despised the dress and wanted to give it a complete makeover. I thought she was going to tell me I was crazy especially coming to her LESS THAN 8 WEEKS BEFORE MY WEDDING...but she was confident and totally up for whatever I wanted to do! I told her my long list of things I wanted to change and shared many Pinterest photos with her, and she emailed me an invoice later listing all the changes I wanted with pricing. She was transparent about pricing, timeline, and the dress's limitations...really great communication!! She created sleeves including buttons, loops, and straps for attachment. Removed, recreated, re attached and hemmed my skirt. And she recreated the bodice and added lace. I came to her really upset with the dress I purchased and left a few short weeks later with the dress I envisioned myself in. It looked absolutely amazing and nothing like the original dress at all. I love when someone has a talent they are passionate about and do that thing really well. And that is Peggy and her team at Custom Alterations. She gave us a pick up date but when we arrived she said the pants weren''t ready as she had been on vacation even though she gave us a pick up time. She said come the next day which we did. Genia's daughter brought the suits out on hangers and my husband paid a whopping $240! I suggested he try the suits to make sure they were right. He tried the pants for the wedding and we discovered a giant patch in the seat of the pants. They are unusable. Genia was highly defensive saying we had brought the pants in that way and it was not her responsibility. If there had been a patch we did not know as it was in the seam. I was astounded that a tailor would alter pants that would not be usable without notifying us there was a problem. I strongly suggest avoiding Genia's as customer care and pride in quality work does not appear to be a priority. She overcharges and customer satisfaction is not a priority.
