From ordering the food, making the food, and bringing food for set up, it was all just great! The telephone catering assistant immediately sent out the quote as it was created while we talked. Before event, I received a final call to confirm menu and quote which was helpful and thoughtful, and our food was delivered and set up thoroughly as requested (and with a smile). The food was Peruvian chicken and beef flank steak with a mushroom gravy- chicken was moist and had its traditional Peruvian flavors, steak came rare to medium rare, so it cooked a bit more in trays to about med by the time food was served (nice), all the sides were tasty, and we only received compliments from our guests! Scheduled catering for an office meeting with very important clients for Tuesday at 11:15am. I arrive at the office on Monday only to find out the clients had shown up a day early. I called at 9:00am to see if my catering order could be delivered a day early within the next two hours. Sardi's Catering to the rescue. I spoke with Marilee and she was able to save the day. Had this wonderful food catered to my hospital for a lunch. We were served salad, Mac and cheese (DELICIOUS), warm bread, chicken and these yummmyyyy sauces!! (The brown one was the best!!!!) So scrumptious! Oh and the cookies, those were just okay. The food delivery was prompt and the food itself is something to rave about!! Really enjoyed it. I can't say I've ever had this variety of foods in Peru (no Mac and cheese like that), but still very delicious! Highly recommend!! read more

We ordered catering to pick up at The Falls Church location and received confirmation. We go to pick it up and the Falls Church location has no idea that there's a catering order and started making it at the pick up time. We waited 45 minutes and were late to the party. We complained the next day and the owner promised to send us something to our address and apologized. 2 stars for the apology but they never followed through with sending something. Would not trust them again for an event. Isn't the absolute minimal standard for catering is that they have the food ready on time? read more

I planned an anniversary party for my parents 40th wedding anniversary for 30 plus guests. I did not want to cook all-day prior for 30 people nor get everything from Costco. I'm so over Costco party foods - cheese, pinwheels, croissant sandwiches. A friends recommended Sardi's as almost all meal entrees are under $20 per person. In DC the going rate is about $40 to $50 for caterer's. In terms of the options, I really liked they're home style and Latin style menu with so many sides to chose from! I went with the fried chicken, macaroni & cheese, grilled asparagus and it comes with rolls & butter. I also got a side of scrambled eggs as it was lunch/brunch time. I got many compliments on the food from family and friends. The best thing about Sardi's though is the delivery guy was so helpful getting us set-up and lighting all the bunson burners and he was prompt on the rainiest day. The only thing I did request that I did not receive was an ingredient list for the food ordered. This might be a mom & pop more type of caterer but it's important to know what hidden things are in the food for dietary needs. Overall this made my event so easy and streamlined. My boss ordered from Sardi's for our staff training in DC. We were assured that our order (for 20) would arrive no later than 12 p.m. We received a call at 12 p.m. from the delivery driver stating that he was here, but lost. We spent the next 40 minutes on the phone with him, attempting to locate him, give him directions and to meet him at a identifiable location with no luck. Our food finally arrived at 12:40 p.m.! The food was set up and he left without a word - not even an apology or a check-in. The sauces were phenomenal, shrimp skewers were flavorful and the veggies were awesome. The chicken, however, was dry, rolls were cold and seemed store bought and the mac and cheese was in desperate need of some seasoning. Can't say I'd go to Sardi's again, there are a number of other Peruvian style chicken restaurants/caterers in the area. read more

Outstanding! This company knows what they are doing in every way. I had Sardi's cater my husband's graduation party. From the people I spoke to on the phone to the delivery it was superb service. The graduation ran over and my cousin had to accept the delivery. When I came in I thought she had set everything up, she said no, they did everything. The food was in warming tins with the burners already lit. They left a crate that had serving utensils, nice sturdy disposable plates, napkins and utensils. I had bought plates and utensils and didn't even need them. The salad and dinner rolls were in black bowls. Everyone thought the food was delicious and the portions were great so no one left hungry. Everyone wanted to know who had catered the food, and I had no hesitation recommending they use them for their next event. Awesome experience. read more

Food was really good, sauces were amazing (I tried one of each). Soda machine was down. I ordered the grilled salmon skewers w/ white rice and beans and side Cesar salad. The minus one star is for the lady at the checkout had an attitude and kept checking her phone and my salad had a short hair in it. But I don't think the hair was human hair, had to be an animal, maybe cat or dog because it wasn't long and then I had ate most of my salad by the time I discovered it. I'd be back again and would even give the salad another chance. read more

You know.....I've had catering services before for a Holiday dinner and special events and have typically had great results. However, I was extremely disappointed in my recent order of macaroni and cheese from Sardis. Unfortunately I didn't look it over when I picked it up yesterday and to my dismay, as I am unwrapping it today to put in the oven for my family dinner I see that it is inexplicably burnt! Unfortunately they are closed today so I can't express this issue to them in person, but I'm so disappointed. Can't say when or if I'll ever be ordering from them again. What's even more disappointing is that whoever wrapped it up in their kitchen to be brought out to me KNEW it was burnt and didn't say anything. :( Come on Sardis.....I know your staff is better than this. read more

I recently had a lunch catered for 13 people--6 portions if rotisserie chicken and 7 portions of salmon. Sardi's upcharged me $2.00 per person without telling me, adding $26 to the bill. When I questioned this charge I was told it was b/c I split the order. In the words of a Sardi's employee "our kitchen is not equipped to prepare small orders, our containers are made for big orders and we don't keep small containers in stock, so we have to charge you for the extra pan." That means I was charged $26 for a disposable aluminum pan w/lid! I asked several times to speak to a manager, but she refused to speak to me or return my call. Instead another employee (who I've dealt with before and is very personable) called me and said the manager will not refund the $26 because the split charge is printed clearly in their menu. I've never seen a printed menu--only the online menu--and NO WHERE on the site does it mention anything about minimum portions or upcharges for splitting portions. He then said that a printed menu is always left behind with each catering order. I've used Sardi's twice and NEITHER time was a printed menu left behind. I do an average of $750-$1000 in catered lunches per week and that's business I will NOT be giving to Sardi's. read more

This past weekend (10/6/12) I hosted a surprise 70th birthday and had Sardi's cater the food. I had a great experience, from the time I spoke with James who took my order to the time I received my order. The food was delivered directly to my home in Waldorf, at a very nominal fee. They provided plenty of food for my party of 30. It was well prepared and tasted great. My guests truly enjoyed the food and had a wonderful time. I would definately use them again and would recommend them to family and friends. read more

I really appreciate the service that Sardi's Catering provided for our fellowship dinner of 35 college students/young professionals. I talked with Adilene from the beginning and she was gracious and professional. Before she called me to confirm my order the next day, I had to make some changes to my order so I called her. Adilene graciously arranged so that I could change my order two hours before they closed for the weekend and my order was due the next day! Not only that, but they let me pick up my order rather than have it delivered. When I went to pick up my order, the operations manager made sure I had everything on my order and he even carried out the food to my car and provided carrying baskets so the food would not slide around as I traveled. As for the food, IT WAS DELICIOUS!! One person asked me how they could make the pasta salad and the potato salad taste so good. Many people came up and told me how good the food was. My conclusion is that Sardi's Catering provided excellent customer service and wonderful food. Thank you so much! read more
