i went in for an acrylic set, the woman doing my nails was very rough, she cut my finger while pushing back my cuticles. the acrylic was on my fingers and the paint was on my cuticles, even though she pushed them back. in addition to this, my nails are uneven and it looks nothing like the photo i asked them to recreate. they used gel polish when i asked for regular as well. they charged me $61 for nails that don't look good. read more

My girlfriend and I walked into this salon to get a gel fill and an acrylic fill respectively at 2:20 pm last Wednesday. Kathy did my friends nails. Rose started mine, then passed me off to Sarah, the owner, because she had a pre existing appointment coming in. I normally do my own acrylic, but I was in the middle of a work trip when I snapped a nail and decided to walk into this salon to get a fresh manicure for a modeling gig I had the following day. My service started out ok with Rose who tried to make polite conversation. Sarah was equaly polite, however her skill level was way beneath standard for a professional nail technician. She was not very articulate, cutting and chapping some of my cuticles with her tools. My fingers we're sore for a few days after, making it hard for me to reach into my purse. Her acrylic work was passable at best, completely ignoring my request to sculpt the broken thumb nail back to its proper length and shape, and leaving me with a short stubby awkward thumb on one hand. Then she started to file my stiletto points down flat, without asking me about the shape I would want for my nails. I came in with stilettos, I intended to leave with stilettos. That's the style I like on my hands. When I yanked my hand away somewhat horrified by her decision to hack my manicure down, she stated "but they too pointy" which infuriated me because I don't much care for anyone's opinion of my nails. I was paying for a service so that I can like them, not her. But I digress, she proceeded to attempt to cater to my shape preference, visibly troubled by the request, botching most of them. They each have a unique ugly bulge to them now instead of being a uniform set of pointed nails. To rub insult to injury this service lasted until 4 pm, making us late for a work appointment and cost me a whopping $36 for a rather poor quality fill I could have bested with my off hand had I had my nail kit on me. While I waited for my friends nails to be done, which took even longer than mine, Sarah decided to give everyone unsolicited shoulder rubs. I didn't want shoulder rubs, neither of us did after we got robbed for $36 for a botch acrylic job, and $100 for a botch gel job. That was my experience here and I'll never step foot in that salon again. read more

Came here the other day for a manicure with my mom. I called ahead and made an appointment a half hour before since last time I can I had to wait a while!! Seemed like all the customers knew each other and the staff was very friendly. This place had a very good nail polish selection as well. I think this will be my go to place to get a manicure in Massapequa. read more

I went in to get my nails done and I just wanted an acrylic fill. I was constantly told to get a new set despite the nails only being 2 weeks old and not needing a new set. They gave me brand new gel nails after hounding me about it for almost 20 minutes. They cut my cuticles so horribly during this process that I have scabs all over them. Every time I kept telling them to stop with literal bloody cuticles they wouldn't. I told them I wanted my nails stiletto-style (pointy) just like they were when I came in, and they kept failing to get this shape. Right before they were about to paint my nails they wanted me to pay and told me it was going to be $80. How the heck does a nail set cost $80? They took so long to do my nails I was in there for almost an hour and 45 minutes And they saw that I was in a major rush to leave and told them but I didn't want them painted that I would paint them myself later. They told me that they would give me gel Polish so I would not have to wait for the nails to dry and I told them no I would just paint my nails myself later at home. They insisted on gel and that they would do it really fast. After they were done they told me it was going to be another $20 for the gel which meant that my nails cost $100 before a tip even comes into it. They did not tell me this beforehand. I feel completely ripped off and I went to go point at their price list to complain about this but noticed that there was no price list on their wall or anywhere else. 2 hours and a $100 plus tip later, I was finally out of there. My girlfriend who was getting her nails done at the same time was miserable as the other woman kept cutting her cuticles just as poorly and making her fingers bleed. That woman also started to file her nails in a completely different shape than how she had them without even asking her what shape she wanted and hacked down her perfect stiletto nails. Her nails came out completely crooked, the points going off to one side and then the other and they we're mismatched in length entirely and there was no time to do it over. Instead of giving her the service for free with how horrendous her nails came out, they ripped her off to demanding almost $40 for her fill with regular Polish. The women also kept trying to massage our shoulders for tips when we kept telling them no. I have been going to nail salons for 15 years and I have had mostly good experiences with a few bad experiences but this has by far been the worst experience I have ever had, and this is the 1st time I have ever complained on a website. I'm a very nice and kind person and I let a lot of things go but this was pure robbery. Do not come here they will try to rip you off and give you a horrible nail job, and will take 2 hours. read more

I think this place is called something different now, but I'm reviewing it here since it went by this name when I last went here about a year ago. It was not a good experience for me- the woman who waxed my eyebrows was inexperienced, and nearly took off my one brow! It still has not fully grown back- there is one slight bald spot which you can see if you look very closely. The only reason I'm giving two stars here is that the manicure I had done was decent. Needless to say, though, I would not return. read more

I used to come here when my son played lacrosse at John J Burns and had forgotten how much I liked it. Was on yelp and it popped up so I decided to go. Everyone here is so nice and friendly. It has that neighborhood feel to it. I got a pedi, lip and eyebrow wax and a French gel powder manicure. My manicure is beautiful and Sarah put sparkles on two of my nails, so pretty! The place is clean and all of the tools used are sealed. They use liners in their pedi tubs. All of the women took time to talk to you and were very engaging. Me and my friend went to get our nails done because there was a deal for $25 tips for teenagers. We said what we both wanted when we walked in and no one said anything about a wait or anything so we proceeded to picking our colors. I. w.a.s told to sit once i picked my color and began getting my nails done. My friend was sitting and waiting for maybe 30+ minutes and there were not enough workers for the amount of customers in the nail salon. The salon closes at 7:30 pm and my nails were still being filed and prepped at 6:45 and at this time my friend still had not been seated to get her nails done. I showed the lady who did my nails the picture of the shape i wanted and the shape she did is absolutely nothing like what i showed her. Customers continued to walk in and were waiting for a long time because there was no one available to do their nails yet. This place was very unorganized and seemed very rushed. My nails look so unprofessional. Although they were cheap, i wasn't expecting them to look this horrible. I do not recommend this place. Getting your nails done can be expensive so i. w.a.s happy it was a cheap price but i would've rather paid $60 for a good and well done manicure instead of the amount paid for my nails at Sarah's Nails.
