Specialties
I help women to feel beautiful and empowered with natural henna body art and photography! With over 14 years of experience in henna, it's easy for me to listen to a artistic vision and spontaneously create a work of art that fits. Henna is temporary but often the reason for adornment is significant - a rite of passage or other important life event - and these moments in time are best captured with professional lighting and my creative eye! With a huge wardrobe of colorful, silky things to dress up in, a photo session includes dress up & fun poses for indoor photography as well as outdoors in our scenic location in Colorado. I also create more permanent works of art, including logos, murals and permanent tattoos, that are researched & planned.
History
Established in 2012.
I picked up my first henna kit in the fall of 2003, and quickly realized I had found my medium - finally! My passion for body art was ignited and I began to practice and develop my art as a hobby - at the same time I became a mother and spend most of my time tending to my family. I began an important art project celebrating pregnancy with henna in 2008, and this grew and grew, until I finally realized I had to start charging for my work and create an official business in 2012. I loved photographing all the women that came for henna, because otherwise I would never have a record of the art I created! In 2012 my husband and I started working together to create the photography, and with his eye for light the photographs took on a new level of vibrancy. This pregnancy art project is the heart of my business, and out of this love came 6 volumes of art as well as the magazine Artfull Mother. I do many other kinds of henna art as well - henna parties, weddings, rites of passage...
Meet the Business Owner: SarahKate B.
I have always been artistic, and especially loved drawing as a child. I gave up art in middle school as a practical pursuit and focused more on computer science and things of that nature. Halfway to my degree I had to admit it wasn't a true fit, my brain didn't think the way my peers did. I spent about a decade trying things, like Photoshop (which I still love!) but it wasn't until the very end of my 20s that I found henna and began my journey as an Artist. I began my henna art business in 2012 and have been enjoying unfolding into the practice of empowering women with body art. I especially love adorning women for pregnancy, it feels like some of the most meaningful art I create.
