The hair and makeup also both lasted the entire day and I couldn't believe it. It was a hot day on the beach and my hair and makeup did NOT reflect that. I started with virgin dark brown hair, and when I say dark, I mean my hair is basically almost black. I also have curly, textured, thin hair, so there were a lot of factors to consider when I decided I wanted to go lighter. I was definitely nervous about keeping my curls healthy while changing my color, but Jeannette knew exactly what she was doing. We started slowly with some highlights, and after about two or three sessions, I told her I wanted to go even blonder. She talked me through the process and explained that while she could absolutely get me lighter, her priority was making sure my hair stayed healthy, kept its curl pattern, and didn't get damaged. I cannot tell you how happy I am with my hair! I LOVE the color, but what impresses me even more is how healthy my hair still feels. My curls are still there, my hair feels great, and she has also recommended some amazing products that I honestly can't go without now. Why did it take me this long to write a review? I don't know, okay?! I'm bad about these things. But considering the amount of compliments I get on my hair, I figured it was about time I gave credit where credit is due. Thank you, Jeannette, for taking such good care of my hair and giving me a color I absolutely love.

This review is not a reflection of the salon…read more I've had my hair done a couple times and the first time I had to drive back the next day to get it fixed because he added chunky money pieces which I communicated that I did not like or want on multiple occasions. I wrote it off as a mistake however after my second appointment I realized he's not paying attention and not being honest. I had requested highlights and my roots to be lightened,, he did not bring the foils up to my roots and once again gave me money pieces. I immediately told him that the entire crown was significantly dark and I told him again I was not sure why he added money pieces again. After being there for so many hours I was exhausted mentally and physically. I requested it be corrected after I came back from vacation and he agreed, I contacted him once I returned and no response. The appointment was unprofessional as he talks a lot personal life matters, and does not listen. I would caution other customers. I am now going to have to pay another stylist to fix his work.

Hair is an investment that I will never regret with Annie Trang!…read more I moved to Florida 4 years ago and I fly to California just to get my hair done by Annie. She's the hair queen so I travel for her because she is worth every penny and minute spent. She is the best investment I've made for myself. I learn a lot from her as she is very wise and understands my hair health and history. I never have "hair salon anxiety" with Annie because I trust her so much and know my hair will always turn out perfect in her hands. I'm always excited to visit her because I enjoy spending time with her as she is a good person inside and out. In addition to her lovely work, she is a lovely person and has a big heart. I always get compliments on my hair and so I always get a chance to talk about her to the people in my life. What people respond with is "I see why you would fly 8 hours for her." She's like me, a perfectionist that cares about every single little detail, so if you're anything like me, I like my hair to be a specific way and she always hits the mark. If i get nervous during the appointment about it not looking the way I want it, she's always open to listening, reassuring me, fixing anything that might be off, or being honest and letting me know why my visions may be unrealistic in just one sitting. She's truly an artist and born to do what she does. I trust her judgment and always leave her appointments feeling more confident with not just my hair but my life struggles we talk about throughout my appointment hehe. She's a very busy person so please remember to book your appointments well in advance and be patient as you should with any service person but know that she really cares about her clients and will fit you in and accommodate any changes that you might need within reason. I've been going to her for more than five years now and her prices are reasonable for the industry of beauty :,) you get what you pay for and you pay for quality here. Just be detailed and specific about what you want, what you dislike, and understand and ask questions nicely if you have any concerns. Fair warning, if you want a hair stylist that doesn't talk to you or you need to get somewhere after your appointment, she does run late and does care about relationships with her clients and likes to chat. I'm someone who expects to spend the full day at the salon since my hair is thick and it takes about 6-7 hours to get this type of work done. I go in every 6 months and will bring work with me or something to kill time when I'm waiting around for processing and if she happens to run late. She's very clean and the studio is well lit and has nice aesthetics. Happy to say I won't be needing a new hair stylist soon. Although I do have to drive extra to her after moving, I like her work, her personality, her attention to the questions and concerns I have.

For the engagement photos, I felt like Karla was really engaged and made an effort to make me happy. I don't know if my wedding day was a bad day for her, but it felt a little rushed and off. My makeup was great for the wedding. It lasted all night, and it looked really subtle and natural. My only complaint would be the lip products she used. It was glossy and looked patchy when applied. I had to wipe it off and use my own lipstick. Also, my hairstyle didn't even last an hour after being done. I had to have my bridesmaids completely curl my hair again, which was stressful because it was time consuming. For the price charged, I felt like the hairstyle should've lasted longer than it did. I felt that whenever I showed Karla my hair inspirations on Pinterest, she more often than not told me how it wouldn't work on me, rather than try to help me achieve the hairstyle I wanted. It was a bit demotivating. Overall, I did like my makeup, but I had to make tweaks to really be happy. My hair had to be completely redone. I'm not sure I would be able to recommend this studio to others.

Though I adore the personality of my last girl, I felt it was time for a fresh pair of eyes and artistic hands. As expected, I initiated my search on Yelp and friends' recommendations. Theirs were all unfortunately much further. I knew we had many stylists local to me. I found Perla through the Grand yelp page. I saw her photos and felt she could replicate the style I envisioned for myself. Setting up my appointment was fairly easy and she seemed personable via text message. Now it is my duty to report on my entire experience. We had a bit of a setback with our timing. Our time didn't start until nearly 20minutes post schedule, but hey things happen. Moving on. Our time was a pleasant experience. She listened intently to what I wanted and offered suggestions. She educated me on products and what to do and what not to do to create certain looks. She was extremely attentive and knew her craft well. I feel our personalities vibed well too. Like chatting with an old friend. I'm big on the small things. I mean there's a certain expectation from the consumer's point of view when you pay for services--well what stands out is those little steps taken to ensure you're satisfied. Perla definitely did that. She made sure my neck was extra comfortable In the wash bowl (she would fluff the towel beneath me numerous times). she made sure I had plenty of wine to get thru our visit. she gave me an awesome scalp massage! She even hands-on taught me how to curl my hair vs leaving me up shit's creek without a paddle. she comp'd me a treatment to make up for our time conflict earlier. And that really meant something to me -- that she apologized and addressed the issue with me directly and offered to resolve it. Integrity is the word that comes to mind. She even guaranteed her color work by a revision within a certain time frame if I felt it warranted. And the end result--a beautiful cut and color that I truly loved. I am not just a happy camper, I'm a happy camper with really cute hair.

Finding the right hairstylist for my wedding, with all of my bridesmaids, and my mother AND my mother-in-law, uchh my mother-in-law, was a huge ordeal. It wasn't until I I started searching yelp that I came across Perla's profile. I can definitely say that Perla earned that license. As Perla went over her pricing structure, which was better than at least half of the stylists I did test runs with. Finally, I was beginning to realize this process did not have to be stressful I got the hair I wanted done right, the first time. I could start by saying how friendly and professional Perla is and continue by saying how accommodating and knowledgeable about trends and products as well, but for me the most important thing is her raw talent. I'm not sure if having blue hair is a sign of that? Perla's hair is very blue, sometimes. Talented would be the best word to describe her abililities, talent with a T. When I finished medical school, I felt that some of the other physicians that graduated, had it and some of them didn't. It's the exact same thing with the football players that my husband watches, some of them are great and some of them just try too hard. One way I can vouch would be to say that I have recommended her to 2 of my friends and recommending something as personal as your hair or make up, particularly for important events, is a potential disaster waiting to happen.
