During my 32nd week of pregnancy I decided it may be beneficial to get a prenatal massage. Luckily…read moreI was able to find Karen because she was exactly what I needed. Her office is located on the top floor of a building in Rogers Park with free street parking right in front. She asked me questions before the session began, provided me with water, and even had me choose the lotion or oil scent of my preference. She told me that I will be spending most of the time lying on my sides (because of my belly) and that she uses hot stones during the massages. I never experienced them before but it sounded good to me! Overall the massage was great & I left feeling relaxed. So relaxed I came back another 2 times during weeks 34 and 36! I'm looking forward to coming back to Karen post-pregnancy for a regular massage.

I have been going to Laurie for 15 years. She is absolutely the best at what she does and her rates…read moreare amazing when you consider the time she spends with her clients. A session is 2hrs. That is unheard of the industry. Most are 60 minutes, with 90 being the max if you are lucky. Most others are also on a tight schedule and clock watch. Laurie does not. She schedules clients far enough apart that you get the full time and maybe even a little extra if you have a real problem area to address. Her sessions are long because she uses a variety of modalities and incorporates a lot of Thai yoga stretching into her work for your whole body with emphasis on any trouble areas you discuss or are discovered during the session. Laurie also places emphasis on the whole being. She wants to get to know her clients and sooth your mind as well as your body. I have been going for massage therapy for 35 years. I have never found anyone better. Even at fancy spas, I am so spoiled now that I always am left wanting more. I think 60 minutes is too short and most therapists lose interest before the rare 90 minute session is over. Laurie is different. She is present for the full 2hrs, which I have never found anywhere else.

I've even gotten enough feeling back in my fingers that I can play songs on my guitar that I couldn't play anymore. Songs that I wrote! What a great feeling. Woke up this AM with a terrible neck pain and found Sarah on Yelp. I normally wouldn't look for a massage therapist in Evanston because I live in the city. But I was going to be headed that way for a meeting today and I have never found a great massage therapist in the city so I figured give Evanston a try. Luckily she had a slot in her schedule and fit me in same day. She is easy to talk to. Not too woo-woo. Down to earth, understands basic health and medicine that other massage therapists are sometimes clueless to. She is strong and goes deep without being a bull in a china shop - she is very smooth in her movements. Her office is clean, organized, and had a relaxed vibe. It was quiet too, which I really appreciate as many places I've gone to lately are really loud with thin walls. Plus, I love that it does not have smelly candles or potpourri. It was one of the best massages I've had in Chicago. I think she will be my go-to gal from now on when I'm needing to de-stress or have pain. I live near Andersonville and have tried many massage therapists in my neighborhood, but from now on, I'll be trekking to Evanston to see Sarah.

Sarah has a keen sense of connecting to areas of my body that relate to my emotional state. She helps me find a place of centering and calming - while together we work to reset my body's knowing of safety and security. When my anxiety is at it's highest, one of my known resets is connecting to my breath. During really stressful or highly emotional times, I find myself rushing around and almost feel like I'm forgetting to breathe. The breathing I am doing when I am under stress is far from experiencing the deep, calming breath that comes easily when I'm in session with her.
