We LOVE Sapporo!!!! The sushi and sashimi is amazing, and I've never gotten a roll I didn't like. I've started to branch out from my conservative selections for that very reason, everything is so good!! My absolute favorite is the Rodgers on Fire....I only gave them a 4 for these reasons: 1) Every time I order, the wait has been much longer then the time I've been given. I usually end up sitting and waiting at least an additional 20 minutes. 2) Its not the most spacious of dining experiences. All the tables are fairly crammed next to one another so for this reason I always order to go. Where to start... how about the beginning? It started with a quick conversation with a friend, dinner? Yeah, I'm starving. I heard about this good Japanese place, like sushi? From there it turned into many dinners at Sapporo's place. I've tried many of the dishes and I've been happy with almost every one of them. These are my some of my favorites: Chemi Roll, Roger's on Fire, Double Trouble, Fire Dragon Roll, Spicy Scallop, Spicy California, Spicy Tuna, Eel (Unagi), GopDol, BiBimBap, Hae-Dop-Bab, and Spicy Calamari. Some items are rotating or limited time dishes as they are evaluated on popularity. The list in the paragraph above would please me any night no question. The food is very fresh and you have the opportunity to BYOB while you wait. In other words, drink a beer or glass of wine and socialize. I don't even think they have a corkage fee, which is cool. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and appreciate returning guests. Don't be afraid to socialize with the staff. They will help you find menu items that you will love. The takeout business is popular also, but I like the atmosphere so I pass on that. The business actually takes up two storefronts wide. The main one has a two or three person bar to eat at if you want to watch sushi being prepared. The other side is more for larger groups or whatever. I'm a huge Beef Bulgogi fan and I was looking forward to it since Waynesboro's selection of decent places to eat is limited. Usually have to drive 20-30 min for some sushi as well. The food was great. The service was a little slow but it looked like a busy night and they were very friendly so it wasn't anything really to complain about. It's pretty small, which is nice. Gives it that family, personal, "Cheers" type of environment. My only real complaint was the serving size of the Bulgogi. For the price I wish you got a little more. Everything else tasted great and like everyone else I'm just happy there's another place to eat in this small town! read more

Since one of my favorite authentic Korean mom & pops joints has moved from my area in Hagerstown I was looking for another. I found this place and it's wonderful reviews and decided to give it a chance. I spent almost $70 for 2 meals, 1 sushi roll, and 2 pieces of nigiri. Nothing wrong with that, however the portioning for the meals and sushi roll were extremely small compared to what I would get at an authentic Korean restaurant, or any other sushi place. I'm not sure what I spent so much money for, especially since there's clearly no dine-in due to covid (which is no issue). However, if you have money to spend and aren't very hungry, got for it! Everything was delicious and I had no problem with the service, or perhaps maybe try to stick with lunch prices instead of dinner. read more

Came here for dinner on a Tuesday. It's a bit out of my way, but the reviews convinced me to try it out. I ordered the Tempura Udon and the woman on the phone was nice enough to answer my questions (what it came with, how many tempura pieces were included, what was in the soup itself, etc.) I drove to Waynesboro and entered the clean and tidy restaurant where the waitress and the chef were there to greet me. The staff was very friendly, thankful and kind. They all seemed to be very fun people to be around! After paying, I picked up my already prepared meal and drove on home. When I got home the quality and the quantity of the food was surprising (in a good way)! Good Japanese food is a bit hard to find around Central, PA. But I'm really glad I found this gem. The udon was flavorful and full of veggies (red green peppers, onions, scallions, carrots), naruto, and several pieces of very large shrimp. The broth was also very flavorful and rich which enhanced the whole eating experience. The tempura included ebi, sweet potato, regular potato/fry, broccoli, and onion ring with a side of dipping sauce. The panko on the tempura was very crunchy, even after it sitting in a brown paper bag for over a half hour before I ate it. A side salad was also included. All very delicious and well worth the price. You can tell they used quality ingredients to prepare their food. I'm really glad I found this place. I will most likely return with a larger party and try the rest of their menu. Excellent people, excellent service, and excellent food. What more could you ask for? read more

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Waynesboro. The food is flavorful and fresh and the service is very good. The main waitress Nikki is also the owner and is a great waitress and is very funny and will always cheer you up. I would recommend anything, but especially the sushi rolls like the Sapporo fever roll with caviar and crunchies on top, the bulgogi which is Korean beef and crunchy vegetables, the seaweed salad is delicious. Fantastic service and extremely friendly owners. Even on a busy Friday or Saturday night I'm never left waiting more than 15 minutes for my food to be served. The owners also must have the greatest memories in town as they always seem to remember everyone's names and what they talked about the last time that they were in. The bubble tea (BubbleUp as it's called) cafe upstairs is quite the little gem with cute decorations and friendly staff. Definitely recommend the match with boba! read more

Sapporo is easily the best restaurant in the area, and I'll explain why: The service is out of this world. The owners are some of the most friendly, helpful individuals I have ever met. Nikki is one of the owners and the main server in this small establishment. She loves to strike up conversation, and is a genuinely kind, caring woman. My fiance and I visit Sapporo a couple times each month, and she remembers us every single time and makes us feel so welcome and special. She even played a popular Korean wedding song throughout the restaurant in honor of us becoming engaged--wow. The servers have no problem answering questions--about the menu, their culture, the restaurant--anything! The food is always served promptly, and the dishes are typically gorgeously plated--especially the sushi rolls. Now, on to the food. We're in Pennsyltucky, so decent sushi is pretty difficult to find. I have to say that Sapporo's sushi beats anything in the surrounding towns--even Hagerstown. I can't say the fish is the same quality as expensive NYC or DC joints, but nonetheless, the rolls taste excellent. They have a nice variety on their menu, including traditional Japanese and Korean dishes. I personally love the bibimbap, spicy tuna tartare, and the beef/asparagus appetizer. Give this restaurant a try for yourself! Take comfort in the cozy atmosphere and eat some tasty food that you won't find anywhere else in the area. read more

A very nice Japanese restaurant in Waynesboro-who would've thought? Visited this past weekend. I had the galbi--the beef was tender and tasty. For appetizers, we had the beef/asparagus app, and the spicy calamari. Also very good. Prices were very reasonable. The sushi rolls that passed by our table were works of art. Our waitress was wonderful and a lot of fun. I hope this place does well; if word gets out, they should be able to attract customers from the area. It's worth the trip, and unfortunately, I don't think it'll survive just from the locals. read more

The freshest sushi that you will find in the Tri-state area. The service is amazing and the wait staff will go beyond ordinary means to make you feel at home (Nikki once painted my mother's nails while we were waiting on our food).
