My wife and I were treated very poorly here. We came to eat and drink, and were told that though the restaurant was empty that we could have a table for one hour only. I asked for an adjacent table than the initial one offered since the window tables are softly padded and the regular tables have only (what turned out to be as uncomfortable as they looked) straight back chairs, but was told it was not available for us. This seemed odd, but acceptable since we wanted to quickly share a plate on our way back to the hotel for the night. We weren't too hungry, but had an early flight out and wanted one last small taste of Espana before leaving. The menu outside says they offer a friendly service and coffee as well as a starter plate and a main course plate for under €13... We ordered coffee, and the fellow who greeted and seated us (who refused to give his name when asked) came in the interim to take our order and told us we had to order two separate starters and two main plates. (Remember before I said we wanted a final little taste of Spain) We were told no sharing of plates was allowed, and the price was per person. This was delivered haughtily in my opinion, and sealed the deal for us. There was no issue with language as a barrier, since my lovely wife is fluent in Spanish. The simple truth was obvious: We weren't welcome there. We got the check, paid for the untouched coffee. A few doors down was a little Italian place who came out in the cold to greet us, and welcomed us in, greeted us again, and fed us an incredible meal. We will leave a generous tip as is our usual custom.
As for being friendly with good coffee... All I can say is that they have coffee. No idea if it was good or not, but friendly was not available in spite of the menu claim to the contrary. Please take your business elsewhere.
By the way, on leaving the Italian place later, the table we had been denied was still available, as was the place we had been seated. read more
