My vegan friend is often challenged finding food and this evening was no different. They also delivered the wrong dish to me. I found this interesting since we ordered by number. They made good and brought me some separate lamb chops later. Sadly the chops weren't what I hoped for, a bit thin and lacking the hoped for flavor. The rest of the meal was fine with way too much on the plate. They offered more ouzo at the end as a form of further compensation but I declined. Like many places in Weiden they were busy with holiday parties and those coming in from the Christkindlmarkt. Plan accordingly. Finally, the host doesn't care for credit cards as they have to pay a substantial fee. They will take them but better with cash for larger groups. A 3.5 rounds to an over generous 4.

They have prime real estate in the square, overlooking cobble stone, tree lined roads. Because it was fall, all the leaves were changing color, giving the entire town a golden glow. I ordered a dunkleweisen and kebab with pita plate. Both were awesome choices! The kebab meat is mouth watering -- every single piece somehow manages to be a crispy edge piece. The pita was warm and soft. The tzatziki sauce was cool and tangy. And, all these rich flavors were cut beautifully by the slices of raw onion. I could give or take the rice but with so any other wonderful things on the plate, it was no big deal to just leave the rice uneaten. Things went a little squirrely at the end of the meal when I needed to pay with a credit card. After a little back and forth with the waiter, we figured it out, but I'd suggest just going with euro to avoid any awkwardness.

If you're looking for Greek food in the Vilseck area, this is the place you should try first!…read moreDefinitely number 1 in the area with incredible flavors and options for every palette. Most visits, I enjoy eating the grilled pork, fries, and horiatiki salad on the side. (Greek Country Salad) It definitely won't disappoint. Filled with olives and a lovely piece of feta cheese. There is also a chicken and pork dish that is served with a white wine sauce and rice. It is so tasty! If you're coming here for the first time, this is definitely something you don't want to pass up on! If you're looking for an appetizer, the sampler is delicious. There is a wide variety of traditional Greek foods on it. My favorite is the stuffed red pepper with feta cheese. The service is quite pleasant most times and very quick. Portions are above average and priced reasonably. Don't skip out on enjoying some wine from their selection! The semi-sweet red is absolutely delicious!

A solid choice for greek food; but I didn't have time to try the other greek place on Marketplatz…read morefor comparison purposes. I ate late, so it was quiet and finding a table was easy. Kreta is fairly small, maybe a dozen or so tables of varying sizes, and it shares an entranceway from the street with another restaurant, so don't look for a dedicated doorway off Marketplat (just look across the street from Aladdin Grlll and slightly away from the clock tower). My Kritharakia (orzo with a tomato and meat sauce, topped with cheese and baked) was good and filling. The greek farm salad was exactly what I wanted; lots of tomatoes, cucumber, and onions with a couple olives, topped with two slices of feta and drizzled with olive oil and herbs. It wasn't some mind-blowing salad, but it was a nice change of pace to get so much fresh veggies in Germany. If I liked ouzo I'd have enjoyed the complementary shot of it that came with my Sprite, but I'm just not a fan of licorice-flavored liquor unfortunately.
