The first thing I noticed right away is they actually answer their phone when they call so that was already a plus for me. I was able to schedule an estimate quickly and get someone out to help us address our main issue which was our kitchen not venting correctly, in addition to a fireplace that we would soon need because of the cold Detroit winter. As a new homeowner, we did want to make sure that the fireplaces were in good working condition before we actually started using them so we requested a estimate on what the service and maintenance could potentially be for the fireplaces that we had in our house and any recommendations that they would have. The process was very straightforward. They easily walked us through the quote and what was needed and why, in addition to what the current condition of the fireplace was in to what would need to be done and how it would fix the problem as well as what comes after the service what could be expected what they would be able to help us with should we come across any hiccups after the fireplace maintenance and what warranties came with the products that we purchased. We purchased dampers some gas fire logs, and had our fireplaces updated so that we could use them last winter. From there coming this winter, we assumed that we would have to have the fireplaces serviced again because it was a new year, though we only had a handful of fires in the living room fireplace they scheduled the appointment. They were prompt and scheduling, as well as coming out for service and transparent enough to say we haven't used our fireplace enough to fully warrant a cleaning. This was refreshing to see this type of honesty from a contractor. Then we ended up having an issue with the smoke coming into our house on our serviced fireplace. They were able to address solve an analyze, the reasons why the smoke was coming in to our living room, though everything looked up-to-date and ready to go. It was next level problem-solving skills that they would rarely run across because of the unique fireplace that we had in our Historic house. It was very appreciated that they did not just give up and ask us to spend a gazillion dollars to throw money at a problem. Will showed me where our existing chimney was basically falling apart (yay old homes!), and explained how he could rebuild it using reclaimed brick that would match the original. He was very thorough in tracing the gas lines through the property to ensure there were no leaks anywhere, and getting gas restored to the fireplace. He also showed me where there were cracks on the fireplace refectory panels, and sealed them to prevent damage. Later in the year I was having the outside of my house painted and the painter asked me if I was having any issues with water leaking into my house. Brian resolved a 4 year problem for me and couldn't say enough about this company. I have contacted…read morequite a few other companies but none of them would work with me because my repair didn't exceed $5000 or because they don't carry 20x20 dampers. I knew I had a leaky damper that was installed by Grey Oaks (who I don't recommend) and came out and said there was nothing they could do although it had a 2 inch gap where all the rain was coming in. I had another company charge me $90 to tell me yeah its definitely the damper and would get back to me and after a week and a half, said they don't carry that size and can't recommend anyone else that does. Luckily I explained my situation on NextDoor and someone recommended Brian. Brian was the only one that could find a 20x20 damper that had a lock top, cage and a cover over the lock top. He is one of the few that don't want a cookie cutter job and collect their money, they come out and understand your problem and work with you along the way. He understood my frustration and truly wanted to know updates to make sure it was resolved. He was very responsive through text and I can't imagine using any other chimney sweep after working with him. Now I didn't have a single drop of water coming in and its all thanks to BB's Bricks!
