On point! Went twice…read morelast weekend for two different experiences. The first was to try the steak and the second to go empanadas and tamales. While the steak was good and flavorful I have to say their tamales and empanadas are the best I have had. Their prices are only quite good. If your in Salta you gotta get ready to wait in line to enjoy this restaurant. Try to arrive at 8 to avoid the line.

It's the perfect place for a tourist to eat dinner in Salta. My friends and I came to eat here for dinner. They open for dinner at 8p. It's a big restaurant. We knew we wanted empanadas. They have four kinds: carne, queso, pollo, and charqui (dried salted beef). The empanadas are really really good here. The carne is the best one in my opinion. The pollo was good, but just a tad dry. And the charqui was also good, but a little too salty. Queso was good too. But the carne is the star. They offer a bunch of local cuisine, like tamales, humitas, locro, and cazuela de cabrito (goat stew). They also serve pastas. I wanted to try the goat stew, so that's what I ordered as my main. And it was delicious. The meat was super tender. The stew was flavorful. There were carrots and potatoes in it. A lot of bones. I was stuffed after eating all of the stew and 3 empanadas. My friends and I went back the next evening for more empanadas! And I tried the bife de chorizo which was tasty. It only comes with meat, a tomato slice, and a piece of lettuce. Sides like potatoes are extra. The place has great character and ambiance. The menu is in English too. Service is great. But they don't take credit card. Only debit cards or cash. And they tack on a service fee of 12 pesos per person. The place isn't super expensive, but it's not cheap either. Mid-range. The empanadas are also slightly more expensive at 13 pesos, when other places charge 10 pesos.

Gayle and I had dinner here during our only evening in Salta. Our Hotel had recommended it, which…read morealso provided a nice opportunity to walk and dine our early (8 PM plus change). The Hotel also recommended across the street (Guemes), but we found the Cafe del Tiempo side to be a little quieter for outdoor seating. We were seated quickly enough outdoors, but found the indoor decor to be pretty cool. However, after a decent wait and agreeing on a "we'll leave in 5 minutes unless we get waited on", our server finally arrived with an odd combination of indifference and a smile. We ordered our Argentinian "usual": Steak order to share provoleta and a bottle of Malbec. But to our dismay, they were out of provoleta (this early?). Maybe we should have explored this diverse menu a little more, as I didn't notice Indian and Asian stir fry selections. Maybe our guy (and the kitchen) were having an off night. We also noticed that the next table ordered Pizza and one of the persons there had to walk back inside. Soon after, the waiter collected the partially eaten Pizza and then returned it after heating it up. As for our outdoor seating, the evening and the city energy was pleasant enough. Our experience also included several folks stopping at our table for money and a few dogs positioning themselves for some scraps. I should point out that these dogs seemed to be well taken care of as maybe community dogs, rather than street mutts. We couldn't say the same for the folks who were down on their luck. The steak and wine were good, but the slow service, lack of provoleta, and the street diversity didn't encourage us to linger. This was also probably the only dining experience in Argentina where we felt the waiter didn't earn the tip and where the Hotel recommendation came up a bit short.

The asado and steaks are really tasty and some of the jamon y queso and milanesa sandwiches have been really good, but I desperately wanted vegetables and something without meat. Lucky for me, I found this place on Yelp! This really cute vegetarian place rescued me with an amazing salad. I ordered the Mediterranean salad, which came with dried figs, tomatoes, avocado, sprouts, walnuts, broccoli, and leafy greens. It was so delicious and so fresh. It was a pretty big salad and it came out quickly. I also ordered the eggplant parm dish. It was cooked eggplant, accompanied with another purée, with a side salad. I don't remember what the purée was. I forgot to take a picture of the menu! I liked my salad so much that I went back the next day and ordered the Italiano salad which was also super yummy! It had zucchini that was cut into long noodle like spirals, sun dried tomatoes, walnuts, leafy greens, and sprouts with a pesto dressing. The service was amazing. The guy taking the orders and serving was super nice. They have fast wifi and accept credit card!!! I already feel healthier!

Their dishes are delicious; they change their menu daily and the portions are ample. I have eaten in many restaurants and this beats any of them, vegan or not. My "Fiesta Andina" had quinoa dumplings with a mint salsa and a variety of potatoes from the region. It was delicious. My friend had a "Burger de Garbanzo" and he couldn't have been happier. The dessert a "Panqueque de banana" was amazing. It was dehydrated banana and fruits, all natural no sugar or flour. If you're in Salta, don't miss this place!
