While the steak was good and flavorful I have to say their tamales and empanadas are the best I have had. Their prices are only quite good. It's the perfect place for a tourist to eat dinner in Salta. My friends and I came to eat here for dinner. They open for dinner at 8p. It's a big restaurant. We knew we wanted empanadas. They have four kinds: carne, queso, pollo, and charqui (dried salted beef). The empanadas are really really good here. The carne is the best one in my opinion. The pollo was good, but just a tad dry. And the charqui was also good, but a little too salty. Queso was good too. But the carne is the star. They offer a bunch of local cuisine, like tamales, humitas, locro, and cazuela de cabrito (goat stew). They also serve pastas. I wanted to try the goat stew, so that's what I ordered as my main. And it was delicious. The meat was super tender. The stew was flavorful. There were carrots and potatoes in it. A lot of bones. I was stuffed after eating all of the stew and 3 empanadas. My friends and I went back the next evening for more empanadas! And I tried the bife de chorizo which was tasty. It only comes with meat, a tomato slice, and a piece of lettuce. Sides like potatoes are extra. The place has great character and ambiance. The menu is in English too. Service is great. But they don't take credit card. Only debit cards or cash. And they tack on a service fee of 12 pesos per person. The place isn't super expensive, but it's not cheap either. Mid-range. The empanadas are also slightly more expensive at 13 pesos, when other places charge 10 pesos.

On a Friday night the place was empty at 9 pm but packed by 10:30. The folk dancers had many volunteers from the audience who clearly knew the local dances and were having great fun. The atmosphere and entertainment get 5 stars. The food and service were only ok. More like 3 stars, not bad. Empanadas were solid and we saw lots of people order them. Steaks were good but side dishes were plain. Pasta was burdened with a very heavy sauce that was too strong. Creamed spinach was 2/3 cream and 1/3 spinach. Brownie dessert is a huge skip....awful. Flan dessert was very good. Service was very slow, which wasn't so bad since we had entertainment. A highlight of meal was the first wine on their menu (forget the name). It was a highly rated (WA 93) 2015 Malbec that retails for $85 in the US but was on the wine list for $25. Including show charge of 150 pesos per person, dinner for four with wine ran $100 plus tip.
