For me, visiting a McDonald's is never exactly a proud moment. It usually means I'm a) drunk, b)…read morehungover or c) suffering a momentary lapse of self control and ruining my most recent attempts to be healthy. We've all been there, I'm sure. Thing is, McDonald's actually is good for those things and if that's what you're after then there's no shame in that. This branch is especially handy in that it's open 24 hours. It also has a drive-thru attached, although I've never used that facility so I can't properly comment on it. In spite of being a small, drive-thru branch they still do all of the major offers (so if you get one of those vouchers for a big mac and fries for £1.99 then go ahead, they'll accept it) and they do all the standard UK menu items, including the specials as they come and go. Food-wise it's the same as any other McDonald's. They can alter your items if you have any particular requirements and they almost always have a few Big Macs and McChicken Sandwiches ready to go as you walk in. If not, they're still pretty quick. Less popular items, such as specials, salads and deli sandwiches take a bit longer, but I'm pretty sure that's true everywhere. You can expect really long queues around dinner time and long-ish queues at lunch time over the weekends. I've only ever once failed to get a seat, though. Plus, the staff are quick enough and clearing the queue and if there's a wait for fries (or if you've ordered something less popular) they'll tell you to go take a seat and will bring it to you when it's ready. The toilets are kept pretty clean and the staff do a decent job of clearing the tables whenever they get chance. The WiFi is free too, so I could even imagine people working here during quieter hours. One very important thing though - don't get the coffee. It's the worst I've ever tasted. Just don't.

This particular one is definitely a keeper, the menu is really extensive - I always wonder how on earth they can even have the ingredients there to make half the curries. The price isn't bad, but it's not cheap! I'm a spice pussy, so the korma does me nicely thank you. It's quite good...not amazing, but quite nice!

I have always been more of a Chinese lover than Indian, and I have always stuck to the same things…read morewhen I order. As I got older, I realised my tastes had changed, and now, I would say that Chinese and Indian take aways are on an even keel for me. This take away opened up a few years ago, and helped convert me to the ways of spice. The menu is big and varied. If there is something you want but don't see, you will probably be able to order it anyway, if you just ask the chef. The people who own The Curry Club have become friends, and often give us discounts, and even bring stuff to our back gate (which is literally ten steps away from the take away). The owners are friendly and personable, always asking me how I'm getting on at Uni and even making my boyfriend feel welcome when I started dating him, which was lovely. The stand out favourite from The Curry Club has got to be the pizzas. They are to die for! The base is always crispy on the outside, but just the right amount of doughy in the middle, and they are always brimming with toppings and cheese. A medium pizza is around 12" and could easily feed four people. They do meal deals too, like a 10" pizza, chips, king kebab and can of juice for about £8, brilliant if you have people round to watch a film. Their munchy boxes are also fab, at £5-£9 depending on the size. They usually contain a good sized nann bread, pakora, chicken chatt, chicken tikka, chips and salad. Not the healthiest of meals, but damn tasty when you just can't be bothered cooking and you don't care about your waistline, which happens to me far too often! The currys are good and don't skimp on portion size or quality. We usually get the meal deal for £15.99, which includes 2 curries of your choice, two rices, salad, nann bread and pakora, which is more than enough for 4 people, and really tasty. My personal favourite is the Chicken Dansac, a lentil and chicken curry which is just the right side of spicy. The prices are really good, the staff are friendly and helpful, and it's just that little bit too convenient for me! You have to try a Curry Club pizza before you die, I insist!
