Don't be fooled by the name, this place may call itself The Best Curry, but it's a Chinese take-away, rather than a curry place. Is it the best? It's not the worst... but no, it's not the best either.
I recently ordered a set meal for one online. If my set meal was anything to go by then they get one thing right: Massive portions. No one wants to be hungry after a Chinese takeaway and you certainly won't be here. For my £9.80 I got prawn toast, chicken noodle soup, chicken and mushrooms, fried rice, and prawn crackers. For me, that's easily enough food for two very big meals, so in terms of value for money it's pretty great.
The delivery person was nice too. My food arrived before I expected it and he still apologised for the wait, saying, "we were busier than we expected tonight, I'm really sorry about that." Kind of unnecessary, but it's nice to know that they can sometimes be even more efficient and that if you're hungry you won't have a long wait.
Unfortunately, the food itself just wasn't that great. The prawn toast was seriously overcooked and while the chicken noodle soup was probably the most flavourful dish, the noodles had suffered the same fate as the toast and everything was a little over-salted. The chicken and mushrooms were just fine, as was the rice.
Maybe this wouldn't normally happen and was just a feature of them being busier than expected, but with so many options for Chinese takeaway in Glasgow, it would be hard for to me to justify ordering from here again. That said, if I was in the area and could collect instead of getting it delivered, I might still consider it. read more
