The restaurant itself is really small with only a few sit in tables, but the vibe is pretty cool and with the decor they are obviously going for an authentic cafe style feel which I liked. Unfortunately because of the size there isn't really anywhere to stand while you wait for your order, so I did feel a little bit like a spare part. Thankfully it wasn't busy when I was in but I would imagine if it was you might feel like you were in the way while waiting. So let's talk food! First off, my order didn't take long at all, it was under 10 minutes which I think is great for freshly made Chinese food. Everything we ordered traveled well back to the flat, and was hot still by the time we unpacked it all - so far so good! MrGeek and I usually like to get a few different dishes and just share everything. On this occasion we ordered some salt & chilli chicken which was pretty dang spicy but tasted brilliant, I loved the seasoning and although it was hot there was also a really nice flavour to the popcorn style chicken bites. Given that it was a starter size I ordered it was also a really large portion and could easily serve as a main if you had some chips or rice with it. We also ordered a beef curry, which I'm kind of a wee bit obsessed with at the moment for some reason. Little Canteens version had a generous portion of tender beef strips and large chunks of crisp crunchy onion, which were drowning in a slightly hot tangy curry sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed this curry and would definitely order this again. Then things went a little wrong with our last dish, which was supposed to be chicken in mandarin sauce, unfortunately this isn't what we got. We actually got a portion of ginger and spring onion chicken which isn't great, but we all know that sometimes these things do happen. And given that neither MrG or I had tried it before we're happy to give it a go. I can confirm we both hated it! Don't get me wrong I'm sure it was brilliant if you liked ginger & spring onion chicken, we just didn't like it at all. So unfortunately we ended up chucking the whole portion out which is such a shame. Then there were the sides - we went with a portion of boiled rice which was...well...it was boiled rice. We also got a portion of salt and chilli chips which I always like to order whenever I get chinese food. The chips were crunchy and like the salt and chili chicken they were hot but packed a real punch flavour wise. They were so addictive and I am not going to lie I was more than a wee bit angry that MrG actually wanted to have some of these. I really enjoyed the take away food from Little Canteen which I will definitely order again. And given how much I liked the take out I'm also now very keen to sit in and try the food here fresh because I bet it will taste even better!

While driving out to Stirling with my dad the other day, we stumbled onto this charming little…read moreroadside eatery in Bonnybridge. We were only looking for a coffee, but I was surprised to see some nice looking food on offer. Crumbs is located in a quiet little retail strip and it didn't look like too many people were passing through, but as we sat down and observed the flow of their business, I realised I couldn't be more wrong; they seem to do a very healthy trade with the local builders and road workers for filled rolls and such...the stream of people coming in for their takeaway breakfasts and lunches never stopped! They clearly have a reputation in the area for food that's good and fast, but they also had a pretty impressive selection of actual home-cooked food for the sit-down lunch crowd (only two tables in Crumbs, but great for people-watching!!). I saw some gorgeous homestyle mac and cheese, some sort of toad-in-the-hole type of dish, and various fillings for jacket potatoes, all of which looked quite appetising. One of the things I love most when travelling is finding funky out of the way places like Crumbs where they're serving up "real food that's real good" and the ladies running the place are a bit cheeky with everyone - especially the regulars. It reminds me of all the road trips I've taken through the western half of the US, where places with extra helpings of character aren't hard to find. I don't know when I'll be passing though Bonnybridge next, but I'll definitely make a point to come hungry so I can stop at Crumbs for more than just coffee.

There's a few Yelpers who've reviewed it and had good things to say so I knew I could trust their judgement! The restaurant entrance is around the side of the building - the grand entrance is for the supermarket. Inside the restaurant is set up like most Chinese restaurants - large round tables with lazy susans and a few smaller ones around the side. The decor is kind of 80s, a big chandelier and a big fish tank. No complaints though! We ordered a selection of the dishes from the dim sum menu and shared - Shanghai mini bun, beef cheung fung, scallop and vegetable dumplings, spring rolls, char sui buns, squid. I really liked everything, to be totally honest - a great mix of food, all served quickly and really hot, and it was really tasty. I think the car sui buns and the Shanghai mini buns were two of my favourites but it was good to try something totally different like the beef cheung fung which was really silky and tasty. Staff were really friendly, helpful and fast but also having a bit of a laugh with us. The bill was around £20 each including tip and a lot of soft drinks - and I had a couple of tsingtao beers. This was a really nice place to try for something different at Brunch Club, and I'd definitely go back for dinner or another dim sum session soon.

Dim Sum Sunday is a thing...... in Glasgow!!! Did you not know?…read more Well its actually Dim Sum Saturday, Sunday and I think one day during the week, but I went on the Sunday so for me its Dim Sum Sunday. China Town has been about for decades and believe it or not last weekend was my first visit to it. Reflecting back that's sort of bizarre considering my live for all things dumpling and Asian cuisine in general. First impressions when you walk in are you can tell it's been about a bit, the décor is a wee bit dated and you can tell some of it was put together many years ago. That said the service is friendly and its clean, so who cars abut the décor as your there for the food. They do an Al carte menu, but I was there purely for the Dim Sum so I did not even read, in case was tempted to get two dinners!. We shared a selection between 4 dumplings fans... Highlights for me were - Deep Friend Beef with Ginger and Spring Onion, Prawn Dumpling with Salad Cream, Dried scallops & Veg Dumplings, Satay beef dumplings, pork and prawn dumplings, Chair Siu Bun.... I could literally go on and on. There was nothing I did not like, don't get me wrong as well as the ones I mentioned as amazing highlights, there was some that were just OK, but I can genuinely say I liked the lot. Boiled to steamed, buns to dumplings it was all good. I now really want to go back for the Al carte menu and will do in the next few months. If you like dumplings and dim sum you're going to love this please. Just make sure you check serving times and days before you go as they do not do the full menu all the time.
