If you're visiting a coastal town in Scotland then most likely there will be a Fish and Chip Shop…read more And most likely, and you should, you will want to try a portion of that world famous British dish. In South Queensferry, the Town House is one of the places to go to try out that famous and well known of British meals. With the chippy being so close to the sea and therefore so close to the source for fish, the fish is fresh and is made to order. You might have to wait a little while but generally the fish has a good batter. The chips are alright; not world class but that is not what you are looking for in every chippy. The Town House also provides pizzas, kebabs and other takeaway delights. Prices are not too bad, but in every chip shop prices are going up sadly. Worth a try though.

This is easily one of the worst Indian restaurants I have ever been to. I've been to quite a few…read morebad ones in my lifetime but I don't think I've seen anything like this. We were made to sit for more than an hour before our food was served. And guess what, when the food came out, you know what it was? UNDERCOOKED tandoori chicken. Upon inquiry, the manager insisted that's how the chicken is. And then the rice with shrimp featured an odd-tasting curry with a fully shelled shrimp. Perfectly paired with a huge plate of rice that has been clearly served in proportion to the rest of the food. This is not how food is supposed to be. Inauthentic, tasteless, sometimes inedible and overall a big time sink. I do hope to forget this experience. I cannot in good faith recommend this restaurant to any individual. Do not waste your time or money here!

I think the place only holds about 25 people but its not cramped. The staff are always polite and friendly and even took the time to take my son through some of the more exotic dishes on the menu. Just around the corner from the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum & the Dunfermline Glen Park, the restaurant is well located. With the park so close by, you can have a stroll either before or after dining, especially in the summertime. Dunfermline Abbey is also less than five minutes walk away. The restaurant itself is very welcoming with a very pleasant owning family and great waiting staff. The food is absolutely superb. I've just returned home from dining there this evening and four of us ordered the Paella portion for two, eight Tapas dishes plus drinks and desserts and it was an extremely tasty and satisfying meal. In true tapas style, we just shared everything. If you have a hankering for Spanish food, I can highly recommend this restaurant.

Be warned, When they make a mistake on a phone order it's your fault and not theirs. They will not…read morerectify, replace, or refund. They will verbally abuse you, even in front of other people. They will then ensure you are left out of pocket with the door slammed in your face. They confuse SALT with SAUCE, they give you the wrong orders, the food is very mediocre, greasy, just like the staff's customer service. I had to go to there to try and rectify THEIR mistake, and was badly abused by the so called manager, to such an extent that I have had to inform the police of this. Now I am £9 out of pocket, hungry, and angry that they can treat anyone like that. Avoid like the plague, unless you like being abused and becoming a victim of THEFT after they take your money and run!!!

I ordered one of their value meals one evening as a home delivery and whn it arrived, only half an hour later, the food was delicious! It was still hot and everything was as I wanted it. The menu for ordering for delivery is bright and easy to understand. I have visited the chip shop on occasions also. It is clean and large. Thee are seats for waiting, if you've ordered a pizza etc. All fresh food is kept covered and most of the chip shop food is cooked fresh. The staff are extremely friendly and chat with you. The prices are fantastic and the menu is full of variety, and if something isn't on the menu, they will still make it for you! I definately believe that Merdos is the best chip shop in Edinburgh and the best I have tasted so far! They also have meal deals for large orders and all children get a bottle of juice with their meal.

Their burgers are greasy, crispy, and meaty, and their chips practically melt in the mouth once you've bitten them through. I personally love their potato fritters, which taste like a little bit of heaven in potato form. They're cheap as chips too - a mound of chips and 2 burgers is only 3 quid! Good stuff and definitely worth a try if you like your food hot and wrapped in paper!
