When I called iAire, they immediately confirmed the sensor is not proprietary and that generic replacements are compatible. These are cheap and widely available online. Ranger told us they were not comfortable working on our unit and that we would need to find someone else. I'm frustrated that this was not communicated upfront, especially after we waited days in the Florida heat for answers. If the company is unwilling to service smaller brands or use generic parts, they should have told us during the initial visit instead of leaving us in limbo. When I tried to express any dissatisfaction with the situation, their phone rep repeatedly interrupted and talked over me, and I could barely get a sentence out. When I spoke with my fiancé later, he told me he had been treated the same way. I'm not happy with the poor communication, lack of service, and unwillingness to listen. They took our money and dropped us, gave us a headache, and now we will have to pay someone else to come and fix the issue. This was really poor customer service. They justified this by blaming everything on our "cheap, offbrand" unit and have made no attempt to make things right with us. They have not stood behind their own values. You can see from their responses to upset reviewers that they do not take ownership when they let their customers down and find any way to shift the responsibility for their mistakes. Shameful. I signed the quote on 7 February 2025 and paid $2,150 on 9 February 2025. So I called John early the next morning and he told me to send him pictures. So I did. He then sent me a text that he was going to check his schedule and see when he was going to be able to do it. A week went by and I didn't hear from him so I called him again. He didn't answer but texted me that he was at an event for his son, and he would call me when he finished. I waited and didn't get a call back. At this point my husband called him from my phone for the next 2 days and he didn't answer any of the calls. The next day I tried calling him again and shortly after he didn't answer I received the following text from him: "I'm sorry I have a lot going on in my life, fighting for custody of my son family health issues my house is all tore up over a water leak". We completely understand that family comes first so I replied that I was sorry to hear what he was going through and that once he was ready to let us know. I followed up with him 3 weeks later via text for him to reply "do what you have to do...I'm not sending anyone out".
