I'm so glad I found this Korean market near me! As far as I've tried, they have the best kimchi in my opinion compared to the larger markets that carry more commercialized tubs of kimchi. It tastes way fresher and isn't as bitter or vinegary which is what I prefer. The current owner said he makes it in store. They have a decent selection of premade bonchon (side dishes) and other things (usually sold out by the time I get to the store). They have a few fresh veggies and tubers you can buy, but I would not rely on the location for all the fresh produce you may need. read more

It ur a fan of Korean shows and would wanna try out the food seen on those shows than this s a place to visit... u get all the Korean and other Asian foods Wch s exciting as u can get to try ur fav food Wch would have watched over and over again on the shows ( sometimes drilling too) watching them . A very nice and small Korean market in Novi. Gives off a homey, small family-run business vibe. Aisles are clean and stocked with a variety of Korean items. I go here for the frozen cutlass and mackerel fish & imho it is a little pricey but I understand it is imported so that should be expected. They also put out homemade kimbap and sell premade/homemade soups in those clear containers. I make my own jjigae at home but the ones here look good too, I just haven't tried it. I really like this place now, but it's a different owner. Parking is convenient and it's easy to get in and out of this shopping center. The person that now works here is friendly compared to the last one. The aisles are bright and everything is neat and tidy. I love how they have many items that you can bring home and easily cook or heat up along with a large variety of side dishes. Many of the side dishes are really quite good. What a cute tiny market. It reminds me of hankuk market (east side). I just moved to the west side so I'm used to e mart and all those Asian markets. I think this market has a good amount of basic, convenient, ingredients. It's good if you're in the area to grab something quick! read more

Small little Korean market. Some rice cakes for the ready on the front counter. Lots of great prepared banchans and bibimbap ingredients, kimchi's in many different size containers and water kimchi too. The kimchi tasted pretty good here would be great for some bibimap meal any night. Not a big store but it has everything you will need to make any and all Korean dishes. Do try some of their banchans, they are all made fresh and in house, that's the best. read more

I'm a first time customer, I bought tofu today and it expired 2 weeks ago! I can't believe they can do things like this. On top of that, the guy who was at the check out counter was staring at his phone the whole time. He didn't not greet me, did not answer to questions. I had serious doubts whether he can hear. They always have homemade food in the weekend. Good food, fresh homemade food, clean, good customer service. I love it here.

For a small Asian Market, it did carry more items than I expected. The price is pretty high. Staff very friendly. For a quick run this is better than One World. read more

It's been only a few months since I found this store but now it's getting my routine to go there weekly/ biweekly to get some kimchi ! I love all kids of kimchi - I think it's spicier but that's what I love. Their japchae is also good and whenever they have it I usually get one for my lunch. Staff is very nice and friendly. Under new ownership and a great improvement. Store is very clean, nice products, and they make a lot of very good and interesting korean foods for takeout, from Kim chee to mochi dessert balls. Second time coming in for the ready to eat snacks, some the same, some different than last time. Fun. They also have frozen foods, a small selection of fresh veggies, and various dry goods from sauces to cookies. And Asian ice cream.... What more could you want? I don't like writing bad reviews but today when I visited this market, a market that I loved. I was very disappointed by how I was treated. I've been a customer for many years and they have away been so nice and welcoming, but today when I was getting ready to checkout I simply asked who I believe is the owner how was he doing today. He was very rude and without look up to me and said I'm busy right now" in a very nasty way. All he was doing was texting on his phone. If I didn't love their products so much, I would have simply had put my items back and left. But I went ahead and purchased my items. That however will be my last time shopping there, which is sad because I love that place. Now I have to find a new market. But maybe others will have a better experience than me. read more

While not the most impressive Asian grocery store around ... Sang Doe offers the best kim chi in SE Michigan. I was introduced to it several years ago by a Korean friend that told me about their kim chi and I was not disappointed! Everyone that has tried it (well everyone that likes fresh kim chi and not the old sour stuff) loves it and it is now their "go to" Korean Market. My GF drives in from Ypsilanti for it and a friend drives in from West Bloomfield. Their bi bim bop fixings are nice .. just add rice! Yes they are understaffed and can get a little surly.. but somehow it adds to the authenticity of the place. read more

It's the only Korean grocery store in Novi. Usually Korean grocery store carries Asian food and vegetables. Sandoe is no exception. Japanese, Chinese are customers, too. You can rent Korean drama DVDs as well. People working there are very friendly. It has free Korean newspaper stand. read more
