The Rialto Bridge is located by the Grand Canal and it is now still a part of Venice's daily life. Chefs and locals come here to purchase fresh quality products from the fish market, fruit and vegetable markets, and there's nearby shops for butchers and bakers too. It has been a commercial heart of the city for nearly a millennium. Unfortunately for us... they are closed on Sundays. We came before 9am and were so surprised about how empty the area was. I watched many YouTube videos recommending to come early, so I was surprised not to see many vendors out. There were a few stands for fruits and spices but it was so bare... I didn't know until afterrrrrr that they are closed Sunday. There was no other day where we were available to come over in the morning, but if I knew I would have saved time and avoided making the trek to this area.

I found many fruits and vegetables I had never seen in the United States. The salamis tasted better than those in the supermarkets. They have many different items you can find at very affordable prices in the area. They have many choices of leather bags, belts, hats, and many, many other interesting inexpensive things catching my eye. This is a great way to relax after a whole day of sightseeing in Venice. The price tag is negotiable, at least for the leather items we bought in some of the stalls. Don't expect a significantly deeper discount. But you should get a few euros in savings if you ask, especially if you purchase multiple items. Try to group the things you will buy with your friends.

The people we met there were extremely friendly, and were excited to tell us their restaurant recommendations and even took us through the store showing us their favorite local GF pastries. They told us the owner trains and tests the restaurants regularly, so you can trust their recommendations to be well vetted. The most unique thing we saw while there was pre-made ice cream in a gluten free cone. There were also baking supplies, candy, and lots of interesting pasta shapes that are difficult to find GF in the US -- it's just sad pasta is difficult to put in a suitcase without crushing. Overall the selection was slim. Of course; this is from the perspective of someone living in SF who has lots of access to GF items; so take that in context.

The warmth and hospitality of a family owned business shines through and they're proud to show the quality merchandise they have on hand. A dizzying 600 Italian wines can be found towards the back of the store and you're welcome to stay and peruse as long as you want. We choose a half bottle of Moscato for the bf's sister in law which went well with the biscottis they had on hand too. They carry a good variety of chocolate and candies, pastas, dried goods etc. But you really need to come for the spices! Every spice known to man is here in this shop, kept in tightly sealed glass canisters or wooden boxes. They are weighed and you're charged accordingly. Don't miss their truffle salt and truffle butter! I only got mini bottles of both since there was no more room in our luggage! We couldn't be more happier with our purchases here and at a fraction of a cost if we would've gone to a big chain store. A great find!

They were more affordable than other grocery chains but it was super busy and chaotic. We were in the self check-out area when the machines started breaking down and the folks in front of us were stuck waiting for staff assistance. We had to go to the cashiers. The lines were all long, but to their credit staff was productive. Overall good value if you're patient and don't mind a little chaos.
