If there were more stars to give I totally would!! Sandy's isn't just a place to buy amazing plants it's an experience and an enjoyable one at that! Sandy can usually be found driving about the grounds and is always ready to help with her wealth of knowledge! She has really nice flower bed setups to show you what she has not only for sale but how it looks as it grows and thrives which is nice to see for the future of your garden. We buys almost all of our plants from Sandy's as in my opinion perennials are really the only way to go to get the most out of your money so needless to say we've been buying here for years! In a more recent visit I called in 30 minutes after close and Mitzy was on site and I was having a milkweed emergency all of our monarchs rolled through our spring planting of milkweed and she was gracious enough to hangout and wait for me to come pick up 6 plants to get those babies through to chrysalis! Big thanks to her!! All in all I HIGHLY recommend going to Sandy's Plants grabbing a golf cart and enjoying her wonderful selection and helpful staff!! read more

Just plain RUDE. I called to get an idea on pricing for plants as compared to Lowe's or Home Depot, and the lady that answered the phone said "that's not a fair question to ask". Funny, I didn't know that asking a straightforward question about pricing is considered unfair (must be this new generation of people who think illegals/non-citizens should be able to vote in American elections...). Anyway, after I questioned her statement about fairness, she said "I don't really know what price the big box stores are selling their plants - better answer... anyway, there was no explanation as to why it would be better to shop for plants at their business vs Lowe's. She made no attempt to sell me on the benefits of shopping at her business. Another disappointment, I asked if they provide military discounts - NO, they don't care to help military veterans - so I'll take my business elsewhere. Sad thing is, I used to work at Sandy's plants over 20 years ago before I joined the Army, so I really wanted to shop there, but this lady (new manager?) who answered the phone, even after telling her I was a former employee of the business, genuinely uninspired me to take the trip there. Sad. I won't be spending money here or recommending this place to anyone, if for any reason, simply because of the pompous attitude I heard over the phone when asking simple questions. read more

I love shopping at Sandy's plants. Huge selection of plants! They have golf carts so you can get around the whole site faster. The prices are good, the selection is even better! I usually make 1-2 trips a year for all of my planting needs and spend several hours running around the site to find all of my favorite plants. read more

Sandy's plants is great. It's huge (30 acres!), and has a good perennial selection (what they specialize in) including east coast native plants. It's not a traditional garden center. They seem to mainly do wholesale- they sell to local garden centers. For the best experience, I recommend doing advance research on the plants that you want. We used their website's plant finder function to find what we wanted (native plants, good in clay soil, good for pollinators, etc), and came with a list. Because it's so big, you use golf carts to navigate. They have maps, and in the front office binders that list where each plant is. It would be harder to come and browse. The employees are mostly filling orders- they're not really there to help with questions, though we did meet Sandy in the office, and she gave good advice. Plants seemed mostly in the $11-$16 range. Prices were on their desktop site, but not their mobile site. As long as you go in thinking of this as a self-guided garden center with amazing speciality plants & use their extensive website and maps, you'll be happy. I think some of the other commenters wanted something more traditional, which it is not. read more

I had a bad experience with Sandy's Plants from start to finish. They do have a wide selection of perennials, so if there's a rare item they have that you're looking for, maybe give them a shot. But if you're not looking for that one specific item, go elsewhere. I recommend Sneed's, or the Great Big Greenhouse. Cross Creek Nursery and Colesville Nursery also have wide selections, but seemed a bit more pricey. Or there are many other places. Sandy's is on a huge, two-acre lot. The plants are spread out all over the place, and you literally have to use one of their golf carts to get around and load the plants on it. There is no way around it. The way the plants are laid out is not at all convenient and does not seem to have any kind of rational plan or design. So expect a lot of getting on the golf cart, advancing 100 ft, getting off again to look at the next batch of plants, and on and on and on. Do not plan on an easy, leisurely stroll on foot through a nursery or greenhouse, like you'd find elsewhere. We went there because their Facebook page advertised 'buy one get one free' on perennials. I didn't read the fine print. My fault. It said 'quart-size perennials'. I don't know what a quart-sized perennial is, really. We went all over the place on golf carts and every single plant was in the same sized pot. We loaded up the cart with about $150 worth of plants thinking that 1/2 of them were going to be free. No. The 'quart sized' ones represented perhaps 2 or 3 different varieties of flowers in one small section at the front of the store. My fault for not clarifying, but still frustrating, and to my mind, misleading. This was frustrating, but after spending all morning (in the pouring rain) driving around picking these plants out, we went ahead and bought them all anyway. Which is when the employee started making comments about our having brought our dog. Well, when we pulled up, we asked two different employees if dogs were allowed, and they said 'Yes'. Because of this, and because every other nursery in town allows dogs, we brought our dog in. If you don't allow dogs, put it on your website or at the entrance. Don't lecture me about it after the fact. Then I asked if they had a guarantee on their plants. Home Depot and Lowe's guarantee perennials for a year. So do most of the local nurseries like Sneed's, Great Big Greenhouse, Cross Creek, Ed's, etc. Her response: "They're guaranteed until the end of the driveway." Anyway, between the: (1) misleading sale advertisement; (2) contradictory dog policy; (3) rude employees; (4) sprawling and difficult-to-navigate store; and (5) lack of guarantee, I will never go here again and suggest that you do the same. But, it gets worse. Almost everything we bought here is either dead or dying. Two Euphorbia (Spurge) plants began their decline almost immediately after we planted them and were dead as doornails within a couple weeks. An Agastache seemed to start strong, but is now wilting and looks on its way out. A yarrow never thrived and looks to be rotting somehow from the inside out, as does one of the sedums (the second sedum seems ok so far). Anyway, every single thing we've bought elsewhere is thriving. Almost everything we bought from Sandy's is dying or dead. It might be coincidence. I don't know. But with no guarantee, we're out the money we spent, which is very frustrating. So, all in all, one star seems fairly generous. read more

Sandy's Plants is a working wholesale nursery operation which lets regular people come in and shop. Everyone out in the fields are garden workers, not sales staff. Their job is to grow plants not help customers. However whenever I have asked them where I could find a certain plant they always respond in a courteous manner. For questions on plants the office is the place to go. The staff there has always been willing to help with any questions that I have about plants and where they're located on the property. There are plenty of reference books there as well for you to research any plants you're interested in. Sandy herself is often around and, when not on a plant mission, Is more than happy to talk plants. My best advice on coming to Sandy's is to make your list ahead of time and know what you were looking for. There is an amazing amount of plants here that will make your head spin first few times you come. I love it there! read more

RUDE what else can you say the employees are rude and offered no help what so ever. They do on the good side have a large selection and seem to have a little of everything but if you ask for help watch out. I went here back in July, and was wowed by the variety of perennials. It definitely helps to be prepared, to know what you're looking for, because it can be a little intimidating. I almost turned around and left because it was a hot morning and I wasn't quite mentally prepared... but there are maps and lists of available plants by the parking lot and golf carts. Yes! Golf carts! That's how many plants there are - you need a golf cart to get around to see them all. If you're looking for that certain perennial, get yourself up there and check it out! read more

I honestly cannot believe these reviews. This is not my experience at all. Every time I go to Sandy's everyone is really helpful and pleasant. The place is unique, with a remarkable selection of perennials, and even free golf carts to get around! Why anyone would complain about that is beyond me. Yes, they are primarily wholesalers for the trade, and I can't imagine they make much, if any money off us regular customers, but I am grateful they welcome us and allow us to shop in such an amazing place. Sandy's is truly an excellent experience. I was there last weekend and saw Sandy herself help and chat with multiple groups of happy customers, and she is always ready to share her extensive gardening knowledge and experience. Just look at her gardens, which are open to everyone. If you do not go to Sandy's because of these reviews, you will be the one missing out, trust me! By the way, on Facebook they have 20 five star reviews, which does not surprise me in the least. read more
