This new trail is my favorite in Houston. Bonus points for it because I can walk out of my front door and step on the trail, which means I have absolutely ZERO excuse not to get my butt out there. The running/biking trail is 5 miles, complete circle, but you can also run all the way to Memorial Park now making it way over 5 miles. I LOVE walking over the bridge seeing the Houston skyline, it makes me smile every single time and gives me warm fuzzies. The newly paved trail is still a work in progress, but it has added bike lanes, and is currently in the process of lights being added. I also like you run over and by the Bayou, having the scenery change up, or can stop off at the dog park during your run. There are a couple of things that need to be changed or added, such as more water fountains. Also, PLEASE ADD more dog waste disposals to the trail, there is one or two in the dog park, but NONE on the trail. With the amount of dogs in the area, it is well needed. In the full 5 miles, so far there is only one that I have found, unless there are more hiding. Also, I've been VERY close to being run over several times from bikers, as people here don't realize they need to SHOUT "On the left, or on the right" and personally I think they like to scare the hell out of runners while whizzing past their ear at 40 miles an hour, and laugh. I think that will come in due time with Houston ions knowing how to ride bikes. As the popularity and changes are complete, without a doubt this will the the next "IT" spot for running, biking, bootcamps, and family day out. read more
