Finally, now that the 'newness' wore off, 4 of us were able to grab a table with ease. There was live music & they post on their Facebook page regularly with updates on food & cocktail specials. We decided on appetizers: nachos w/ chicken, mozzarella sticks & potato skins. The nachos were really good - I liked the chips they used. The mozzarella sticks were a bit underwhelming, similar to frozen ones I've purchased at BJs. The potato skins tasted like they were made in-house. ABOVE & BEYOND MOMENT: Our server, Jackie, was friendly & patient with our requests. I had asked if they could make a spicy margarita. She asked the bartender & they were out of their jalapeno tequila so they asked if it was okay to muddle fresh jalapenos instead. I said I trusted the bartender to do what they thought best. When my margarita was delivered, the Jackie asked if I wouldn't mind tasting it to make sure it wasn't too spicy. I think the fact they custom made the drink & ensured it was to my liking was great. I see mixed reviews about the prices. I honestly found that appetizers averaging about $15 was on the high side. We'd like to go back for dinner, maybe when there isn't live music. Very loud due to the small space. The ambience is a cleaned up version of J.J. Goodwins & there are (2) pool tables.

They had to move up our reservation by half an hr., but that was no issue & we didn't mind at all. I think a lot of the personal touches of being catered to made a difference, as well as the fact we were more than customers - felt more like friends. The lobster Rangoon's are a bit pricey ($6/ea.) BUT SO WORTH IT - I highly recommend this! The filling is INSANE. Crunchy outside with an awesome dipping sauce. They're large so I think next time I will order (2) with a side salad for a meal. Courtney was a very humorous, kind server that came by at appropriate times to check on us. Not sure of the hostess's name but she was lovely & brought us silverware when we requested. I believe that either a general manager or owner came over to check on us which was a nice touch. If you share the Pier Platter, note that there is a $5 'surcharge' to split where you allegedly get 'more sides' - I don't think that is necessarily true but boy, it's beyond delicious. There were (2) small dipping sauce cups of coleslaw on each plate, as well as waffle fries. One thing that knocked down a star is that the haddock seemed to be skimpy, possibly frozen. Flavor was great, but it was almost like a fish stick. In the past, we'd share a platter & received a large piece of fresh fried haddock. In summary, we love Shibley's & would never give up on going here. Reservations are highly suggested! :)

We…read morehad other things to do shortly afterward, so we weren't looking to have lunch or spend a long afternoon at the restaurant. We just wanted to sit somewhere nice, have a couple of cocktails and enjoy the waterfront for a little while. When we arrived, we were greeted by two very friendly women, and we immediately explained that we weren't there to eat, but just wanted to have a couple of drinks. No problem at all. One of them walked us out to the back patio overlooking the water, and since we were the only people out there, it seemed like a perfect spot. The outdoor seating is really nice, and on a beautiful day I can completely understand why people want to sit outside. A few minutes later, our waitress came over and took our drink orders. Everything was fine until she realized we weren't ordering food. She then told us that we really shouldn't be sitting on the patio because those tables are generally reserved for customers who are eating and want to enjoy the view. That was a little awkward, particularly because we had specifically told the hostess when we arrived that we weren't eating, and she was the one who seated us outside. We're professionals and weren't about to make an argument over a patio table, so I simply explained that we had told the hostess that and that she had brought us out there anyway. The response was essentially, "I don't know if that's true," and she started to walk away. That part didn't sit particularly well with me. There was no reason for the situation to become uncomfortable when it was clearly just a misunderstanding between the front and back of the house. Rather than make a thing out of it, I said, "Look, I'll have an order of fries too." A few minutes later, the hostess came back out and handled the situation much better. She told us not to worry about it, that we could stay where we were and that we should just forget about the whole thing. She also asked if I still wanted the fries because she understood exactly why I'd ordered them. I appreciated that. I canceled the fries, we stayed on the patio, and the issue was effectively resolved. Once that little misunderstanding was behind us, we had a nice time. The atmosphere was relaxed, the outdoor seating is excellent, and being right on the water makes this a very pleasant place to have a drink. Our cocktails were also very good, and that's really what we came for in the first place. So I'm landing somewhere in the middle with this visit. The location and patio are great, the drinks were good, and the hostess ultimately did the right thing and resolved what was clearly a communication problem. The interaction with the waitress, however, left us feeling a little awkward and could have been handled much more gracefully from the beginning. That said, I'm not writing the place off. We enjoyed ourselves once everything was sorted out, and I'd be willing to give it another try. Hopefully next time we'll have a smoother experience from the moment we walk through the door.

Two burgers ordered medium were instead cooked well done, and a veggie bowl with rice was served with the most poorly cooked rice I've ever seen in a restaurant. It was a solid bowl-shaped mound of gummy rice mush. And when I asked if there was a non-dairy alternative to the naan it should have come with, I was told no but I suspect the waiter just didn't want to ask. The restaurant itself was nice enough, but we were seated near the bar, which was noisier than I would have preferred. (Mostly from the very chatty bartender) I'm sure they would have preferred being told at the time, but I wasn't interested in sending back 3 out of 5 meals. But eating out has gotten too expensive to accept meals that poor. It was $190 with tip for five. (No alcohol, but 3 mocktails) My son liked the Thai salmon.

There was no clearly marked ADA-accessible entrance or any obvious way for a wheelchair user to safely access the inside of the restaurant. We considered sitting outside, but the awning poles blocked the walkway to the point that we could not comfortably or safely navigate the area with a wheelchair. Even if we had managed to sit outside, we had no accessible way to get inside if the wheelchair user in our party needed to use the restroom. What was perhaps most disappointing was that not one person offered us any guidance, alternative entrance, assistance or possible solution. We were simply left trying to figure it out ourselves. Accessibility is about more than just getting through a door. A person using a wheelchair should be able to enter, dine with their family and friends, and access a restroom with dignity. Sadly, we weren't able to do that here and had no choice but to leave. I sincerely hope Burnt Timber takes a serious look at its accessibility and staff awareness so another family doesn't have the same experience.

The people at the bar were making fun of others as they came in, making us very uncomfortable. The beer menu was very small. We understand that can happen with a small brewery. My nachos, which were cold, had very little topping and arrived well after his burger. The restroom was not very clean and had no toilet paper. We won't go back.
