    Awesome how nature works

Love this place!! Doesn't matter if you arrive in the morning or late afternoon, it's always a fun place to go to. There's a laid back feel to it since it's a bit hidden and out of sight - unlike Easton beach for instance. Can't say I've ever felt this place gets crowded so that's a plus. In the evening, lots of folks will come here to do some fishing - I usually go to pick up seashells hehe. Anyway the shoreline is pretty extensive so you can definitely find a good spot no matter who's there. Finally, there IS a fee to enter if you're not a Portsmouth resident but it's only something you have to pay if you arrive before 5 or 6pm I believe. Not too sure on the exact time there.

My baby being silly for the camera! Great day

7.20.17 - Very clean and calm water! Little pebbles at the surface of the water but get to your knees and it's firm clean sand. Brought my 5 year old daughter and had a blast. Was there ALL day.. literally 11-6! Def will be going back. ENJOY, this little hidden beach. :)

Kudos to one of the employees, Mike Sherman, who went above and beyond when my car was blocked in by 3 other cars.

Be careful with smaller dogs as there are coyotes in the tall grass across from the beach. Beautiful and picturesque location. You can drive up further to the Sachuest Point National Wildlofe Refuge (dogs not allowed) which has beautiful views. Such a beautiful scenic drive or enjoying the beautiful sunrise.

What a beautiful beach. Way better than Easton's Beach which was super underwhelming…read more The biggest downside is the parking. We paid $30 cash for a weekday day pass as non-residents (July 2026). What a racket! There aren't any other parking options nearby either so just consider it the price of admission. To make it even more ridiculous, I believe they only accept cash or check, adding another layer of unnecessary silliness to the whole thing. Once you're on the beach though, it's absolutely gorgeous. The sand is soft, the water is clean and clear, and there are lifeguards on duty. It gets really busy with families but there's plenty of space to spread out if you come earlier in the day. The amenities are solid too. There are bathrooms, showers, changing areas, a concession stand, and when we visited there was also a Del's Lemonade food trailer. We came during a heat wave and the water was still cold so that tells you everything about the water temp. Overall, this was easily our favorite beach in the Newport area. If I had to choose between this and Easton's Beach, it's not even close. We'd come back here every time. Minus 1 star (should be 2) as the parking experience meaningfully detracted from the visit.

Bristol Town Beach provided a perfect setting for gathering, eating, playing, and relaxing for the entire family! We got there nice and early and found a spot near the big field and not far from the swings and bathrooms. We scored a couple of picnic tables in the shade. Throughout the rest of the day, the park/picnic area filled up, but we never felt crowded and, honestly, it was nice to see so many people enjoying the beautiful day. The beach is rocky, so wear water shoes. It's a good beach for little ones because there aren't big waves to knock them down. If you keep walking down the beach, you get to a path where some of our group went fishing. I remember going to this beach as far back as the early 80's and a LOT of good things have been done to update and upgrade over the years. The only part of this park/beach that absolutely needs some attention are the restrooms. Wow, hot mess! And it's such a contrast because everything else is so nice! That being said, it is nice that there are bathrooms and that they are easily accessible. Overall, we were all thrilled with our new Family Picnic Day venue. Even with having to pay for parking (which we didn't have to do in Newport), I'm pretty sure we will be returning to Bristol Town Beach from now on!
