I always say that I am going to do part of the Cliff Walk and then get sidetracked with visiting…read moreother places. This time doing a stretch of the Cliff Walk was a priority for me. I started visiting the 40 steps. There were a lot of people crowding the steps and taking photos. I enjoyed this part of the walk and would repeat again in the future if I came with friends. To get to the next session of the walk there is a detour that brings you by the next block and to the next entrance. I found the next section to be the smoothest walk and very scenic. After that, you see signs that there is some rugged terrain. You also get signs that you pass at your own risk and a reminder that you are passing through private properties. I highly suggest you wear proper footwear as there are some rocky sessions and uneven ways. If it is hot, you may want to bring water and wear sunscreen. Also check the map as there are sessions where it is clearly marked that the closest exit is some distance away. Still worth the walk as you get magnificent views and glimpses the back of some mansions/houses along the way. I exited at the Ledge Road exit.

We drove down Memorial Blvd from where we were staying in Middletown and then found the beach. There a paid parking lot, but - had we known - there's also street parking if you're lucky or go there early enough during a not heavy season. The beach is a three-quarter mile long strip. You get beautiful views of the ocean and coast. I saw some surfers and families enjoying laying out on the sand. Apparently, there's also an aquarium that is run by a non-profit that's goals is to protect and preserve the Narragansett Bay. Tip: If you're doing the Cliff Walk, you'll walk along the boardwalk on an incline from the paid parking lot. You'll then see signs pointing to where the Cliff Walk begins.

We came in the winter so there was a lot of snow on the ground, but it was still so beautiful and serene. I imagine it's just gorgeous in the summer. There's plenty of opportunities to climb/hike up trails to get even sicker views. There's also huge rocks you can take a seat and relax on, and everyone we passed was so friendly -- but we only passed a few people every once in a while. The best part? It's covered in the coooolest graffiti on the inside and outside of cement tunnels and abandoned structures that you can walk through. I've never seen anything like it! We got all of the details through email and showed up the day of ready to go. Our instructor, Chris, took us through the basics before getting in the water and then we got to have the remainder of the time playing on the waves. He helped us get up on a few and gave us opportunities to do it ourselves too before heading back in. We had a great experience and would recommend anyone looking to give lessons a go to say yes!
