I was so happy to find a groomer locally that was top notch from the first phone call through pick up! My puppy Honey is 6 1/2 months old and I needed to find somewhere close to get her groomed. After having other groomers in town not return my texts and phone calls I decided to call Sandy Hill. Not only was the gentleman on the phone pleasant. But he was able to get me an appointment for the very next day. I also like the fact that Sandy Hill requires proof of vaccines, rabies shots, kennel cough, etc. prior to taking on a new puppy. When I got there for her appointment at 1 o'clock they were already waiting for me. They took a picture of her for her file, petted her up a little bit so she would be comfortable and asked specifically what I wanted done during the grooming appointment. I was told that it would be about an hour and a half and that I would get a phone call when she was done about an hour and 15 minutes later, I received a call from her groomer, letting me know that she was all done and adding that she did exceptionally well considering that she's just a puppy. When I got there, the groomer brought her out showed me what she did and handed me a report card that also outlined her appointment, she also proactively made an appointment eight weeks out for me so that I didn't have to worry. The location is about 13 minutes from the center of Saxonburg, and is located off of Sandy Hill Road. The kennel and grooming complex itself was spotless, it was immediately evident that it was a classy, well taken care of business. Took my dog there for boarding and was asked if we wanted her to have a bath. We said yes, not realizing that the fee for a bath for a 100 lb dog was $100!!!!!! over 20% of our overall bill. When inquiring about the charge, i was told that grooming is a separate service and we should have known to inquire what the fee would be. The front desk has no accountability or responsibility for grooming pricing. I find that as a full service business, that is not a very customer friendly response and quite frankly, in other kennels i have used, the bathing was always included in the overall kennel stay. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I have boarded my dog at Sandy Hill for 10+ years. They've taken the time to know her unique personality and she always comes home like she's been on vacation herself. Now that she's a senior citizen, she stays in "the Lodge", the area with easy access to a grassy yard. I've always been delighted with the care she receives at Sandy Hill. read more

Would absolutely recommend Sandy Hills Kennels for grooming. Groomer came out to greet our bernedoodle pup upon arrival and gave him lots of loving. Asked what services we were interested in and showed us a board with different lengths of cuts to help us decide. His spa day was completed in the timeframe promised and he looks and feels great! We've been taking our dogs to SHK for over 5 years for boarding and grooming and they've always been fantastic. Our dogs pull to go INTO the building and are always so happy to see everyone. Recently one of our dogs have developed a new medical condition and the staff has been so caring, going above and beyond to make accommodations. I don't think I can recommend them enough!! read more

We take our dog 40 minutes to Sandy Hill. Up until now we have had a good experience. However today, dropped dog off for grooming at 9:30 am. We called twice around 2pm and 5pm. After 9 hours they finally groomed her and pickup for 7 pm. They kept her crated no food and doubt water all day. She drank entire water bowl when she was brought home. We did verbalize our disappointment in today's care. The response my husband received was if we want her groomed earlier then to pay an extra $10.00. Also they have no dog washer. Obviously, the service has changed. read more

We drive over an hour just to take our pup to Sandy Hill. Our border collie is anxious and can be reactive when around inexperienced handlers. We have never had any issues at Sandy Hill. They understand dogs and how to approach and handle her. After a few visits, she even runs to greet her favorite employees. They're able to groom her and she comes home happy and healthy. We're very grateful to have a kennel that we can trust with our girl. read more

Sandy Hill Kennel is an amazing! I feel very safe taking my dogs there for kenneling. We have has issues in the past with other kennels. We recently moved back to Butler County but still take our dogs to Sandy Hill. Heidi is our groomer for our 6 year old shih-tzu and she is wonderful. Brody is safe with her and she does an amazing job. He adores his friend Heidi. I cannot say enough about how wonderful she is to Brody. The kennel is clean and welcoming when you walk in. The kennel area is spacious compared to others. The dogs have lots of room and get tons of love. We get a report card on the dogs stay every time they go. They offer day care/play time if we want so the dogs can play and have a good time without being stuffed in a cage all day. I think my dogs are sad when we pick them up after a trip and they have to go home. I highly recommend Sandy Hill! read more

Decided to give this business a try based on the reviews. What chaos! I made an appointment to have my dog groomed and the day before got a call cancelling for some lame reason....something about them being too busy and other clients needing to come early. So I waited a couple weeks and called back to schedule another appointment. I explained that I worked in the area but lived over an hour away. I asked to schedule an appointment so I could drop off the dog right before I started work at 2pm and then pick up the dog before they closed at 7pm. I even offered to pay extra.........not a chance........I have never dealt with a more unaccommodating dog groomer in my life. I guess business must be really good if they can turn new clients away. It sounds to me like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. I wonder if the owners know how potential customers are being treated? read more

We just moved into the area and were looking for a kennel that could handle our fear- aggressive 100+lbs. German Shepherd. Our dog is great at home, but distrusts other people and dislikes other dogs (he is a rescue). Our former kennel had runs that could be closed off in the middle so the staff never had to handle our dog, but could still safely feed him and clean the run. We were looking for a similar kennel here. We were delighted to discover Sandy Hill. They had us bring our dog for 2 days of daycare before his actual weekend overnight which help acclimate him. The staff at Sandy Hill know how to handle dogs. They listened to our concerns and walked with us and our dog to get him comfortable before the actual drop off. They appointed 2 staff members to work with our dog so he could get used to them and by the second visit, our dog was able to go on walks with these staff members WITHOUT us being present. He has never allowed anyone other than family members handle him let alone leash him and take him for a walk! In just 2 day visits and a weekend stay, Sandy Hill has done more helping our dog socialize than any kennel, trainer/behaviorist or vet in his 3 years of life! We feel very comfortable knowing our dog is safe, cared for and getting loving attention despite his issues when we can't be with him. We also love the little report cards given after each stay telling us how our dog was. They are a nice touch. We will be using Sandy Hill again. read more
