Really nice place. Clean. Friendly. Conveniently located. Glad they're in the area, which needed a place like this!

Sandy Hill Kennels - Honey after her grooming!!

I was so happy to find a groomer locally that was top notch from the first phone call through pick…read moreup! My puppy Honey is 6 1/2 months old and I needed to find somewhere close to get her groomed. After having other groomers in town not return my texts and phone calls I decided to call Sandy Hill. Not only was the gentleman on the phone pleasant. But he was able to get me an appointment for the very next day. I also like the fact that Sandy Hill requires proof of vaccines, rabies shots, kennel cough, etc. prior to taking on a new puppy. When I got there for her appointment at 1 o'clock they were already waiting for me. They took a picture of her for her file, petted her up a little bit so she would be comfortable and asked specifically what I wanted done during the grooming appointment. I was told that it would be about an hour and a half and that I would get a phone call when she was done about an hour and 15 minutes later, I received a call from her groomer, letting me know that she was all done and adding that she did exceptionally well considering that she's just a puppy. When I got there, the groomer brought her out showed me what she did and handed me a report card that also outlined her appointment, she also proactively made an appointment eight weeks out for me so that I didn't have to worry. The location is about 13 minutes from the center of Saxonburg, and is located off of Sandy Hill Road. The kennel and grooming complex itself was spotless, it was immediately evident that it was a classy, well taken care of business. I will for sure be taking honey back and having Christine groom her again!

Took my dog there for boarding and was asked if we wanted her to have a bath. We said yes, not…read morerealizing that the fee for a bath for a 100 lb dog was $100!!!!!! over 20% of our overall bill. When inquiring about the charge, i was told that grooming is a separate service and we should have known to inquire what the fee would be. The front desk has no accountability or responsibility for grooming pricing. I find that as a full service business, that is not a very customer friendly response and quite frankly, in other kennels i have used, the bathing was always included in the overall kennel stay. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

The dogs are on camera for the most part when the staff are there and i sense no stress from either my french bulldog or weimaraner. i recommend paying for some of the extras , like individual play time and walks as well as the going home bath to get that kennel stink off. In the end there buisness is well run, clean, and the staff are kind. Really appreciate them and the hard work they do for our pets in this community. See yinz soon! :)

Please don't board your animals here! We just had a terrible experience. We booked 2 luxury suites…read morefor our dogs for 7 nights. We called on day two to discuss some issues, mainly why our dogs were crated at 11a and why they were being fed in their locked crates with the water bowl out of their reach and no potty break after eating. We were told by Scarlett that our concerns would be noted but she "couldn't promise they would be taken seriously". I asked if a manager could call us back to discuss and that call came 24 hours after we picked our dogs up. I called multiple times during the 7 days and it went straight to VM with no return call. Our pug lost nearly 3 pounds while she was there. I wrote the GM a very lengthy email with no response after a week. Today I called the Dept of Agriculture (who oversees dog day care). I have attached photos of my dogs at various times of the day, locked in their crates. Additionally, I saw no human interaction with my dogs or any dogs in the play rooms any of the dozens of times I checked in via the cameras. I would like to know why my dogs were kept in locked crates for the majority of the day - I agreed they could be crated at night, because they are at home. I let them know that I would be picking them up at 10a - they were supposed to be bathed before we picked them up and they weren't. Their bedding was filthy and had been soiled. We weren't given a copy receipt and our card had to be run twice because they couldn't figure out how to add both dogs to one invoice.

I always get picture updates and when I call to check on them they don't brush off the nervous Mommy moment they tell me just how my fur babies are doing. When we had to recently send one over the rainbow bridge the entire staff took the time to write a card to us and let us know they were thinking about our family. They have welcomed our newest addition with open arms and after a day at doggie day camp she is wiped out! Thank you all! Love y'all and everything you do!

Rosie is an 8 month puppy, and I realized she was just "too busy" to leave in the care of my older father. Drop off went as planned as explained on their internet site. I do suspect that they are strict with drop off and pick up times (as well as vaccinations) which was well explained in advance. I was more concerned with pick up and expected Rosie to be a hot, stinky mess. When I picked her up, they explained that she was shy for the 1st day or 2 and then had fun playing with the other dogs. She ate all her food one day but would pick the next. Completely in line with her personality. I expected her to smell like kennel, and suspect they may have given her a bath along the way. She smelled like a dog that had been shampooed about 2 to 3 days before. Appreciate the fact that they kept her clean and bathed her, if needed. She had dirt on her nose at pick up, completely in line with her personality. They also explained that she could be nervous for the next day or two after pick up. I reunited her with my older dog (left with my dad) on the day of pick up. There was hostility between the two dogs all day. I note that I did not give Rosie a bath that day as she appeared clean, and I was just too tired. I expect she smelled of other dogs which may have added to the hostility (and nervousness which MY DOG explained). I gave both dogs a bath the following morning and they were best friends again and hostility was gone. I would recommend this kennel and will use MY DOG again.
