We stopped in Sander's for a beer while we were exploring Valencia, and were very impressed with our experience. The owners are a husband and wife, he's from Sweden and she's from India. The food and beers are therefore a mix of Swedish and Indian. We got the Midsommer, Stout and Smoky beers and they were all wonderful. The wife (I didn't get her name) said she's been brewing at Sander's since 1987! We ordered the samosas and they were sooooo good. They were so friendly and I would highly recommend Sander's to anyone visiting Valencia. read more

This was a strange but excellent find in Valencia. The combination of Swedish and Indian food with several vegetarian options. The best part are the microbrew Swedish beers including India pale ale which was excellent on tap. Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes also were excellent while taking a long time to prepare from scratch. The Indian food was very good if not overpriced and the lamb was mostly bone with very little meat but tasted simply divine. If you're looking for something other than Spanish food this is certainly it. Don't expect to get away without paying through the nose however. read more

This was a really nice find on our last day in Valencia. Swedish Indian? Yep, it works. We had been hunting for some great beer to cap the trip off and Sanders definitely hit the spot. We ordered four pints. The beer was clean and on point for their flavor profiles. Do yourself a favor and check this funky little spot out. The owners are awesome, very personable, and will take good care of you. Well worth the 2.5 miles we walked from our hotel to get here. read more

Terrible! Dark & dismal (too cheap to turn on the lights?), terrible food (rice and yellow curry chicken with two small side dishes - everything tasted the same), ridiculously extensive (67 Euros for two weekday lunches - more than double what we expected and 4x what we thought it was worth) and, in addition, extremely unpleasant owners! Run, do not walk, away from here - anywhere in Valencia is better than here! Note - this is the first negative review I have ever felt compelled to write... that is just how bad this experience was!! read more

I'm not surprised that other users (spanish reviews) have had problems with the prices in this establishment and I find our experience simply unbelievable. During the entire evening we were the only customers there (Friday night) and now I know why. We were a table of 7 people and 3 of us ordered the same dish from the menu, a 10€ vegetarian dish. When I made the order I pointed the row on the menu, and read the name of the plate. I also asked whats in it because there are no descriptions on the menu. I didnt get a clear answer but it had no cheese and just vegetable ingredients. I repeated the name but when the waiter (the Indian woman, owner of the place) said the name it sounded a little bit different (these were in Indian). She also said it's called the "king's plate". I repeated the name of the dish several times while pointing at in on the card and finally figured that the difference is probably just her pronounciation. I could not have been any more clear about my order and the others wanted the same as me. The dish was normal size (usually I get too much food indian restaurants!) with rice and four cups of sides: raita (jogurt sauce), potato and peas, some grain (quinoa?) and some other sweet jogurt-based sauce. I also had two small (18cl) bottles of Cune red wine. The surprise came with the bill. Suddenly the 10€ dish we had ordered had a price of 30€ each! When asked for a correction she lost her temper and the explanations varied from a) her putting more effort and time into preparing this dish today, to b) us actually ordering the food in the picture on the menu behind the text (this dish had 8-9 different cups), to c) us actually ordering a dish from another menu that was not in our table and no one had seen, the 30e king's plate. Also, the small wine bottles were 7,50e each. My meal thus costing 45euros. While trying to somewhat peacefully explain and solve the problem, the owner insulted our entire group, screaming on top of people speaking and getting very close to our faces. Finally we had to call the police to come and settle the issue. While they failed to do so, I suggested that (since I had already paid 45e), I'll leave if I get 10e back - a compromise. She didnt agree to this before the police came, but afterwards I finally got 10euros back after fighting for 2 HOURS after finishing our dinner. As for the other two people who ordered the same dish, one of them paid the original 10e and left, the other one unfortunately gave her all of his money (30e) and couldnt pay more because he only had budgeted to order 10e dish. Avoid this place - the price will be triple what you ordered and the food is not special. Many of us were erasmus students with a tight budget. Maybe the owner thought she can scam us because we are foreigners but we know what we ordered and can read. Hint 1) Paying with a card is 5 e extra, Hint 2) VAT taxes are not included in the prices on the menu as in every other place. Hint 3) Reading Yelp I also discovered there's a hidden charge for sitting outside (luckily we were in). read more

Cheated with the bill. The plate I clearly ordered from the menu suddenly turned out to be 3 times more expensive on the bill (30e), a plate that didnt even exist on the menu... Others in our table had similar problems and refused to pay. To me, trying to solve the issue the owner/indian woman working there was very agressive and had to call the police to get the issue solved. Do not waste your evening fighting here. read more
